Forward Prizes for Poetry: how did it begin?

The Forward Prize for Poetry began in 1992 by William Sieghart and runs every year. In 2023 and for the first time, the Forward Prizes introduced a new category: Best Poem Performed.
Forward Prizes continue to celebrate and elevate emerging voices in diverse forms, making it one of the most prestigious awards for poetry in the UK.
