Lee Hyphen yh i wish these phones were still common , phones are getting so expensive and unnecessarily technological like you only really need to be able to message, call and take pictures - maybe some light internet and youtube. Everything else should be handled with things like laptops.

@@maaahhdi At this point the main thing holding me back from switching to a phone like this is GPS functionality and the odd emergency Uber call, as well as lack of quality pictures

I'm considering buying this. Since I got tired of all the social media and shit, plus I don't like big phones. I have a 5.5" display, and I really don't like the bulge that makes in my pocket. I would like something like this Blackberry, use it just to text and call some friends, and that's it! It's elegant, battery is longlasting, it's small. I don't know, I want a basic, elegant phone

I actually had my 9930 w/ me as I watched. But these days I just use it as an alarm. I'll have to disagree with you on web performance, as it lagged and eventually crashed at various points. Some areas of sites were even unresponsive.
It's a beautiful and very ergonomic device. But the software just isn't there anymore. Be nice if this was re-released w/ beefed up specs, running android or even BB10. I'd enjoy a QWERTY phone that size which managed to function in 2017.

    • @GravesC2
      @GravesC2 Před 7 lety +5

Exactly my wishes also! I would switch to BB from iphone in a heart beat for everything BB if they were current. I'd love a revamped version of the exact same device. Like apple did with the iphone SE. I got that one last year because it was small with modern specs. i traded it for a iphone 7, because it was still smallish. But if BB Bold series came back with modern specs/guts I'd use the iphone as an alarm lol.
I'm also a little disappointed BB went to android, instead of improving their own world. but that's OK. I'm waiting for my used unlocked 9930 to arrive this Saturday. I'm a really boring phone user, so i dont need more than what this type of device offers. I'm looking forward to little to NO typos and crazy auto corrections with the return to a keyboard :D
Sorry, for all that babble! I was just so excited to read someone with the same idea as mine for the same device but modernized.

    • @neighslayer768

If I had my way, I'd actually get a 9650. Yeah, it's older and bulkier, but it's also a comfy fit in the hand. And frankly, I'd like to be free from a touch screen. Piece of mind that whatever's on screen will not be messed with, no matter what falls on it or how it slides around in ones pocket.

    • @mickeyrouke

funny, I use my Sidekick 4G as an alarm & notepad, bought a Blackberry Passport Silver, but its so nice & rare now, nervous to actually travel with it, & I don't trust GSM, any SIM card signals on a daily. Still got headaches from the Nextel days. so for daily runnin and gunnin, shopping for a Bold 9930 CDMA

I’m buying up older models of blackberry. I used to own a Z10 and I regret switching to iPhone
I had my blackberry for 3 years and no problems. iPhone barely even 6 months and problems arise
I’m sick and tired of IPhone and won’t switch to google, Samsung, or android. They monitor your conversations and sell your info to other big tech companies
I’m a conservative and talk pro America and I end up having my social media suddenly start being monitored and my phone start cutting out and changes start happening on my phone.
I’m going back to blackberry and not ever switching ever again!

blackberry was a really beautiful era..

  • @christiandarkbeardtico1597

The Bold 9900 was build like a tank. I enjoy BlackBerries now even I didn't ever had one before 2017. I wish this had BB10 OS. I don't mind smaller screens. I own BlackBerry Q10, Z10 and a Classic. They are all nice and unique in their own way. If I had to choose I would choose the BlackBerry Q10 if it had a Trackpad and Toolbelt. I think it makes a difference having the toolbelt and trackpad. After using Android & other OS platforms is weird having to go without these and not having any troubles but the toolbelt makes calls easier, pasting stuff and going back or closing apps without the use of the touchscreen. The trackpad is amazingly useful when it comes to slow scrolling pagesan instagram and facebook. For faster scrolling there's the spacebar, T to go all the way to the top of the screen and B for bottom of screen, post or article. So yes the BlackBerry Bold Would be nice with faster and better specs. I even have Neflix and couple apps on my BlackBerries as sideloading. I tried Snapchat but it needs Google Play which I could install but I'm afraid it would make them buggy and slow.

Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP has commenced a class action against BlackBerry Limited (“BlackBerry”) on behalf of a group of BlackBerry’s employees working in Ontario and across Canada.
    Update. June 12th, 2019
BlackBerry is seeking leave to appeal the decision of Justice Charbonneau dated May 27th, 2019 certifying our action as proper to proceed as a class action.
No date has as yet been fixed for the hearing of the BlackBerry motion. We will provide an update once further details are available.
    Update. May 30th, 2019
The Ontario Superior Court certified a class proceeding against BlackBerry.
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice certified a class proceeding against BlackBerry Ltd. Impacted BlackBerry employees allege the company terminated their employment when BlackBerry allowed its business partner, the Ford Motor Co. of Canada, to offer them new employment without providing any clear offer of continued employment with BlackBerry. With no clear offer of employment from BlackBerry, the impacted employees accepted employment with Ford, without receiving severance from BlackBerry and with no recognition of their seniority from Ford.
The Representative Plaintiff, David Parker, was one of the BlackBerry employees who agreed to employment with Ford after BlackBerry would not provide him with any certainty about his future employment with BlackBerry. He started this Action in 2017 on behalf of the impacted employees with Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP as Class Counsel.
In a decision this week, Justice Michel Charbonneau concluded that Parker’s application satisfies the criteria for a class proceeding, as outlined in the Class Proceedings Act. Justice Charbonneau certified the class proceeding on behalf of:
All persons in Canada who were employees and/or dependant contractors of BlackBerry Limited (“BlackBerry”), who worked for BlackBerry in Canada and who were offered and accepted employment with the Ford Motor Company of Canada (“Ford”) between January 1, 2017 and April 30, 2017, while excluding BlackBerry employees who filed a complaint pursuant to section 96 of the Employment Standards Act, 2000 seeking termination pay and/or severance pay and did not withdraw that complaint within two weeks.
Parker is named as the representative plaintiff on behalf of these employees. Most of the 300 affected employees are based in Waterloo and Ottawa, Ontario with the rest scattered throughout Ontario and Nova Scotia.
BlackBerry employees interested in more information about the class action should contact our team by reaching out to Leigh Norton: leigh.norton@nelliganlaw.ca and (613) 231-8216. We also encourage them to provide their contact information through the BlackBerry Class Action contact form at the bottom of this page to receive updates about this case.
We will provide further information for impacted employees once that becomes available.
