Shelly, thank you so much for this! I've made a couple other versions of this in the past. They work but yours is a real step up! Somethings I did a little differently: I taped the edges with white Gaffer Tape. Old Theater geeks have this stuff. I substituted my cell phone at max brightness in full white for the overhead light. I have some clip-on battery-powered LED lights which I substituted for the lamps. I clipped them onto coffee cups on each side. Happened to have some double-sided tape on hand so I used it to attach the poster board to the interior. Shelly, this is the perfect size for what I needed. You're an inspiration!

Wow, I’m so glad it was helpful and thanks for your support! Definitely sounds like you made some great improvements to the design and with some better materials. I’ll have to use some of that on mine. Thank you!

@@TheLittleBlackShadeTree it was. ty. I'm going to upgrade the light box I have. I ruined mine when I placed sticky paperr in it to catch the gnats and that sticky glue won't wash off. I might just cut that off and replace it with the fabric you suggested from your video or just get some black and white poster board to cover up the messy glue spot. btw, youtube suggested another one of your videos for me to watch. you're a woman of many talents. Found it very interesting and enlightening. I never knew what a quiver was even though I played AOC as a ranger/assassin. The character I had just pulled out arrows from behind her. I was nonchalant about what it was stored. lol

because they were 20x30, you could have used a 20 inch side of one to measure out 20 inches for what to cut on the 30 inch side of the others. didn't need a ruler.

worked out okay. like yours, there's a seam at the front, like the posterboard doesn't reach all the way to the back of the top to the front of the base, so i used two pieces but am still not happy with the seam there. i guess i'll use a stand when taking photos of things the way you do, or i might look for some bigger pieces of poster board (or get white photography paper or something and use that over the posterboard). saved me 90 dollars (since the lightbox's on amazon are like 100 dollars) though so can't complain. i sell things on ebay and previously i had just been using my exercise pylo box as a background (for like a wood texture) but it didn't work well for things i couldn't photo well from the top, so this should improve my ebay store a lot. what do you use as the stand btw? is that a wax cube, like for a candle?

@@rinkuhero I’m sorry the poster doesn’t reach all the way from the bottom to the top and you’re right it’s a bit of a pain, particularly if your photographing something a little bigger. I hope you find a larger poster board that works. I’m glad this method could save you some money though. My little “stand” is a cube of foam because when I make fondant figurines, they have wire sticking out the bottom that I drive into the foam for stability.

So I can use whatever backdrop I would like inside of the box?

It’s not paper scissors you have to worry about. Don’t let paper anywhere near your fabric scissors!
