Yes, I saw the documentary, as well. It was really STUPID of Jodorowsky's dream project to not even have been filmed, but it influenced films from "Star Wars," and "Alien," in this case, due to Dan O'Bannon's connections, Jean "Moebius" Giraud, Chris Foss and H.R. Giger, ESPECIALLY Giger... to "Contact," and "Prometheus." AND Jodo used his bible for his graphic novels, including. "The Incal," and "The Metabarons." Awesome! Now THAT is an AWESOME science-fiction genius! The TRUE founding father of cyberpunk! He should be in the Science Fiction Hall of Fame!

What people must understand is that Magma's Kobaian myth is no si-fi adventure! It is as metaphorical as Sun Ra's knowledge of the beyond! There's no actualy language, cult or myth! Magma in the early 70's were a band that had the plan to shock the french ears! The band was a group of 21st Century Classical listeners and Free jazzers! They had the feeling that France was sleeping and that jazz wasn't really appreceated enough. That image they had in those days was really humoristic.

J'étais aussi à ce concert. A l'époque j'hésitais entre la puissance de la musique et le kitch aspect Goldorak. Maintenant j'hésite entre des vocaux merveilleux et des soli creux entre la 4ème minute et la 6ème.

J'y étais à ce concert... Bizarrement, petite salle, petit budget, petits éclairages, sono à la limite... pourtant je m'en souviens bien mieux que les "grands" concerts de l'époque... On n'oublie pas Vander quand on le voit jouer en vrai. C'est grand.
Bon c'est sur que le decorum, le langage, et tout ça,... Mais qu'est-ce que c'était créatif ^^
never heard this band before, but yesterday I saw the documentary on jodorowsky'dune and here I am! He said he wanted this band for the movie,and pink floyd too

Stella Vander a aussi fait les choeurs pour Michel Sardou en 1981. J'aimerais trouver les vidéos.
J'ai vu Neffesh en 1979, ou 80. Il y a eu Bertram, mais aussi Laurent Cokelaere, lui aussi excellent. Hhaï est taillé sur mesure pour Bernard Paganotti, et Bertram que j'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer vers septembre 1980 m'a sous-entendu que, tout en admirant de tout son être cette Musique, il ne se sentait pas "lui" dans ce type d'exercice. Reste que sa prestation, sans égaler Paga, reste tout à fait honorable. L'intelligence de ne pas faire du "sous Paga", déjà...

Fascinating.... Vander looks like a cult leader, part messianic, part demonic... I have the Magma Live album, and that too is pretty enigmatic. What I have always wondered is: how do you explain this music to your band, if you've written a 'song'? I'd like having been a fly on the wall at some of their early rehearsals... "now look, what I want you to play here is something like this, whereas I sort of go like this ..."

si pero toca de la ostia, menuda tecnica con la caja, sencillos, dobles flamps, super rapido con solo un bombo q forma d usar los platos en especial con las chinas, q duelos d moog guitarra, el bajista toca ambien muchisimo, la musica es super orijinal y diferente al resto de bandas progresivas.
