    Do you think Frontier in Space could have benefitted from better pacing?

      @Zarius It feels like it does have those sort of stakes to it

    It’s my first Dw watch. Season 10 seems to me like Jo Grant‘s best and strongest season. Even though she became a strong character during the end of season 9 already

    I don’t know why people praise some
    Other storys and didn’t mind the characters getting captured but here it’s a turn off. The capturing eben made sense and brought character moments out of Doctor 3/Jo… Jo even getting so much ideas how to break out and fighting back just showed how much she learned from the Doctor and how confident and mature she became. Hell that girl wasn’t even afraid of the Orgrons or The Master anymore. That Jo even fighted off The Master and his hypnosis was one of my favorite Jo Grant moments. The Master twist in episode 3 and the Dalek twist in episode 6 spiced things up. I really enjoyed this serial. The conflict of Draconian and the Earth was interesting. That we even learned that the first war happened coz of a misunderstanding and mistake really came off a big twist and surprise. Nice video, my friend

      Thanks, yeah Jo may not be my favourite companion but this is definitely a good story for her

    Another story I grew to love through listening to an off-air soundtrack recording 397 times (approximately). =:o}
    The socio-political themes, and the General's backstory, were so strong that Jan Michael Straczynski recycled them as the basis of "Babylon 5" (with full acknowledgement of the debt).
    Also: Fabulous music throughout! [BOWS TO THE LATE, GREAT DUDLEY SIMPSON] =:o}

    Literally used to be one of my ABSOLUTE favourite Pertwees.
    Loved the Star Wars scale feel of the story, the range of planets, locations and so on. I think it's terrific. It's the definition of cosy who. It's gone down in my feelings since. But I still really enjoy it though!

      One of the very few times, certainly from this era, that Doctor Who has done something resembling full on space opera

    The producers wanted to, for the 10th anniversary, make a story the same length as the longest ever Doctor Who story, the Dalek Master Plan. Instead of writing a full twelve parter though, they instead chose to extend Frontier by nearly an hour (a habit they seemed to do often to Malcolm Hulke's scripts, like with Colony in Space) and loosely tie it in to Planet of the Daleks. If the two stories had been specifically written to be that long, rather than artificially extended, I wonder how it would have aged, rather than it being four episodes of getting captured, escaping, getting recaptured, and so on

      I feel like the pacing is what brings down the reputation of this serial so much, and it really is only very loosely tied to Planet of the Daleks so they did not succeed with the 12 episode story concept

      @@MidnightChimey To be honest, it was one of my absolute favourite stories when I was a child. But the last time I watched it with my parents, we all commented on how ridiculous it got after a while. It doesn't help that the next two stories, Planet and Green Death, are two of the best six parters of Pertwee's whole era
