This is great. A critique I have though is regarding the strategic ambiguity. It is true that u don't want to tie future POTUS's hand or force Xi to act etc, but there was a problem regarding strategic ambiguity, wasn't there? Namely it was too ambiguous, to the point that allies doubt the US resolve, average people or official does not know where exactly the gov stand, and CCP using it in cognitive warfare all over the place. I suppose that is why some US official including POTUS had to sprinkle in some clarity otherwise no body knows what is going on or what are the goals etc. Maybe strategic ambiguity is req, but some clarity helped.
In fact, the focus of the United States is not on China, but on the second largest country in the world. The same outcome applies to Japan before, China now, and even India in the future. Ruthless sanctions and suppression ensure that they remain number one in the world. He talks about benevolence, justice, morality, fairness and the rule of law, but what really touches the interests of the United States is ruthless suppression and sanctions. Double standards are disgusting.
