TWO Driveways at once! Where is Owen???

- Hang with the dudes from RTC as we remove two driveways right next to each other and replace them both. Owen wasn't feeling too hot and missed a day, but he got some beauty rest and he's good to go now. Rick and Dave also swing by and stain a stamped patio

Thought this was a victory video due to the same style thumbnail and red shirts😂 looks like some pretty good work tho. Not a lot of guys doing work as good as you or victory on CZcams. Hell I’ve seen crews on tic tok pouring over full grass no reinforcement and not even using a bull float😂 just screed and mag.

By the way, I used to haul for you, I won't say the whole company name but I used to drive for KMS for 14 years. I hauled for you many times. I see you no longer use them, and I don't blame ya. Lol. I don't work there anymore either. I left there in April of 2020, right when the pandemic started. The last time I hauled for you, about a month or so before I left there, I gave you a break on your haul times, and I told you we all have to look out for each other during these times. Those sprayers arent worth a shit !!! I retired last year after 30 yrs.of concrete work and I had about 40 sprayers in the garage that were worthless !! Good video's !

They like it to be 6" non reinforced. That's standard for most municipalities around here.

new subscriber ,Mr. Thomas ,i learned the trade in the early 7o's ,my last pour was in 2003. It's not so much a comment but more a question, expansion joints ,does anyone use them? I saw your tool , to cut faux lines into the side walk and driveway for looks and appearances but does that help the concrete expand and contract ?
Expansion joint at the street and garage. Not all municipalities require expansion at the sidewalk.

I'm learning lots! Hopefully not more than Owen. I'm old school when it comes to employee etiquette, especially if you are hired into a new trade with a learning curve of several years to earn the trust of your mentor/Sensei/ employer. Owen, as a contractor, his focus is on every aspect of the job, from start to finish. His reputation depends in part, on his attention to detail. He hired you because he saw potential in your willingness and ability to learn the trade and to be another good hiring decision he can reflect on. He is not bringing up issues for the purpose of debate. He is your experienced employer. Show some respect. Take that earbud out while you're on the clock. He is paying for 100% of your attention. You are getting paid, on the job training! You lucky mf-er! Do you have any idea how many people want your job? I'm sure the local zoo will permit your earbuds, while you sweep their sidewalks as your new employer. Count your blessings! He is not your babysitter! Put your big boy pants on and learn a trade, so you can move out of your parents' basement! Time for tough love in this situation.

This man-boy, Owen, may certainly challenge your degree of patience and sense of humor as you groom him into being Super Owen 2.0, aka, The Concrete Whisperer. Potentially saving him from a future of poverty in minimum wage jobs. The young man has been given such a lucky break to learn a trade that pays him from day one, straight off the turnip truck. If I had Owen's job offer, I would spend most of my off-time learning everything I could about concrete. Every aspect of the concrete finisher's knowledge base available online or at the library. Makes the on-the-job experience go better.

Rick, For your business , does it make more financial sense to sub the hauling instead of having your own truck? or is it more find a CDL driver , or a truck?....Also , what generates most of your leads?..Best, Steve
It makes more sense for us to hire the haul truck. These two jobs were a total of 5 hrs on the clock for the haul truck, 2.5 hours per job. A couple of us have CDL's. The majority of our work comes from word of mouth, but we do the Home Show each year, little ads here and there, and we did a billboard at 55 and 270 for 12 months last year

@Steve Kissel we went through DDI, I did it more for "brand recognition" and I didn't even put a phone number, the phone didn't stop ringing. We were glad when it came down, lol. This year, we are gonna try out the digital billboards
