all flutes, recorder included, are such fine instruments... But practing one as ba beginner is the most difficult thing I've had to do. The higher the pitch, the harder it becomes to hear when not properly controlled. I feel like all my neigbours have a bullet with my name on it.
But when you do control as you do... it becomes a thing of beauty and expression.

@@jonravenwulf7788 Let's have an argument over a 10 year old claim: Plastic recorders are horrible. They are loud, but there is very little variation in expression possible. a proper wood baroque recorder has much better dynamic range and coloring.
is it an aulos recorder? sounds similar to yamaha 300 series recorder.

A lot of people make fun of me when I say I play the recorder. They say things like, "Oh, is that one of those plastic things we played in elementary school. That's cute, dear." Or they say they think the recorder isn't a real instrument.
It does depends, obviously, what goes out on the lower part of It ...
I actually appriciated it and brought it to university with me (because I couldnt bring my piano and wanted to keep music in my life). I lost thr whole recorder. Idk how
I never heard the Badinerie played on recorder, but this was just great! Outstanding! I remember when I was a kid to me the recorder was an instrument of torture. Maybe I should have had the chance to listen to an interpretation like this. It would have changed my mind completely.

No, I don't want to pressurize to play this, but to show that recorder is not just for Mary had a little lamb or Au Claire de la Lune, to show that even with a recorder, you can play any tunes as long as we put our mind to it. Hey, I can't even play this with my flute yet (as I just started learning to play flute 2 months ago). :D

The pure sound of the recorder suits the minuet and badinerie so well! I love it on the flute as well, but feel that it's extra magical on the recorder.

Outstanding !!!. ------- I recently look for interpretations of other Bach -Badinerie - and fell on this video by coincidence, and found that it was published in 2009. What's magic about this recital is the interpreter's youth at that time and the techniques already acquired in the playing. This is amazing!! As a professional flutist who started on the recorder at 7 years old, I know it’s incredibly difficult to play this piece on recorder! I’ve played it on flute many times, but I don’t think I could play it on the recorder. I still have a very similar plastic one lying around somewhere, and may just have to try playing this on that thing now, lol.

My late father was a Professor of Music, concentrating on woodwind performance (and conducting). Late in his career he took up the challenge of learning to play the recorder at a professional performance level. It was devilishly hard to get perfect, with no baubles; he would practice intervals over and over and over again to get the finger & breath timing just right for clean no-bauble intervals. His performances sounded wonderful.

Ahoy there. I played this piece at 15 years old on the recorder =) It's doable. I wouldn't say it's too difficult either if you're a practiced player. However, to play the piece as cleanly as Lenka *is* undoubtedly much harder.

The good plastic recorders are very precise, never warp, get too humid or dry, nor worn. You can bring them in the bathtub to clean them ; ) . Unfortunately the sound is squeaky. To replace this and practice all day, she would have needed 4 wooden recorders at 100s $ for a good one and 1000$ + for a great one.
. Lenka is a very talented interpreter, she gave me shivers the 1st time I heard her play (that same recorder), and she does use wood now. Thank you Lenka.
