- The city of Cartagena, known in the colonial era as Cartagena de Indias is a major port founded in 1533, located on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast Region. It was strategically located between the Magdalena and Sinú rivers and became the main port for trade between Spain and its overseas empire, establishing its importance by the early 1540s. During the colonial era it was a key port for the export of Peruvian silver to Spain and for the import of African slaves

From Keezi' s walks in Latin America I like this city and Cusco. I think Cartagena and Cusco are among the most beautiful cities in S.America.
It reminds me of a typical city in Cuba (buildings and atmosphere). I expected Cartagena to be more modern

Esto si es criticar por criticar, se cogen de pendejadas y no miran el todo de una ciudad, Cartagena es una ciudad extremadamente encantadora , mezcla de cultura, historia y modernidad, no existe una ciudad así en LAT. Cartagena se convierte en la mejor entrada a Suramérica.

One gap? .....I saw many. I saw many holes large enough to trap and hurt.
You definetly need to keep one eye pointed down as you walk. Many places to break an ankle. Walking on the fortress wall at night is treacherous. Many places to step off into a 20 foot drop.

David Bastidas i didnt find Barranquilla to be a walkable city. Its more spread out without a city center.
