Thanks for the shout out - I'll try not to write quite so much this time. :-) This was 2015 at Saitama Super Arena, 20,000 or more and sold out - Su-metal was 17, Yuimetal and Moametal were 15 ... and yes if Su-metal wants a wall of death she just has to spread her arms, if she wants a circle pit she will just point and spin her finger and she gets what she wants. She has been on stage since she was about 8 or 9 and was a child model before that, so yes she is a very experienced performer and it was her vocal talents and stage presence that gave their producer the idea for her fronting a fusion metal/Jpop band in the first place.
As it happens Herman Li and Sam Totman of DragonForce did write the guitar arrangements for 'Road of Resistance' and they played on the studio version - they have even played it live with BABYMETAL at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards in London in 2015 (there are a couple of not great quality videos of that on CZcams).
The band who support BABYMETAL are the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians - in this one Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura were on guitars, BOH had his 6 string bass and Hidaki Aoyama was on drums. Kami means god or spirit - so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned to support BABYMETAL in all live shows since early 2014 (and in the encores in a few shows from October 2012). They wear traditional burial robes and corps face paint because of who and what they are (more recently replaced with black robes and masks, but nobody likes the masks, we want to see them enjoying themselves too).
Any growls or screams you may hear in their songs are on a backing track along with additional instruments like piano or synthesiser etc.
For something completely different again and to give you a better idea of what the Kami Band can do try 'Rondo of Nightmare' (a Su-metal solo song, so you will not see Yuimetal and Moametal dancing in this one) with the 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' instrumental intro live at Budokan 2014 czcams.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/video.html Su was only 16 in this one and really showing off more of her talents.

The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and they are like gods of music. They are all men and are some of Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint. This is because in the BABYMETAL lore, the Fox God raises the guys from the dead or summons on them to perform for the girls for each concert/show. The girls have been chosen by the Fox God to be the saviors of metal, and unite the world through metal.

To answer one of your questions: they do not write their own songs, with one single exception. "Song 4" or "4 no Uta" was written by Moametal and Yuimetal while on tour, challenged by Sumetal to make up a song about the number 4. They annoyed the tour staff so much with it that they turned it into a real song.
If you want to continue being impressed, check out Rondo of Nightmare from the Budokan Black Night concert; for that performance they added a big instrumental intro that gives you a great chance to see their backing band in all their glory.

"4" is a popular number in ancient historical lore. The 4 winds. "The 4 Beauties ,"Sprits of North,South,East,West.. A good album/song title for them would be EARTH, WIND,FIRE,WATER......METAL as metal is made using earth, wind, fire and water (think of making a sword).

Their concerts are completely bonkers. At concerts in Japan it's considered impolite to sing along with the lead vocals, so the job of the 2 younger girls here is to give the audience a part to sing and cheer along with. So everyone in the audience knows their part and plays along as hard as they can and it's just a massive high octane hilarious silly good time. If you go and are ready to fully embrace the silly (as you guys seem more than ready to do) it's seriously the best time ever. Next up you should see them in front of a western crowd. Asked about his appreciation for the Japanese pop metal act BABYMETAL, Rob Zombie said: "I saw them the other day for the first time. I mean, I'd seen videos and stuff, but I saw them live for the first time the other day, and I just loved it; it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I mean, it was just like… Leave it to the Japanese to find a way to make fucking death metal cute. But it was awesome. And the crowd… The crowd was going fucking apeshit. The amount of crowdsurfing and stage diving and just complete mayhem, which made it even funnier, 'cause it's three cute little girls doing fucking karate on stage and shit, and these guys [that are backing them] are dressed like ghosts, all in white. It's the most bizarre fucking thing. It's totally worth watching; it's so good."

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance)
At the end they were saying "We are!… BABYMETAL!".
That was the last song of a three song encore.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at this venue, Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in 2008 as a member of the JPop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL, as well as opening for Guns 'n' Roses.
At this point, they should just give her a key to the place. : )
There are so many other great BABYMETAL songs, that it's hard to know where to start.

    BABYMETAL 101
Founded 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (22 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old), Riho Sayashi (21 years old), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.
    Past Formations.
    Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012)
From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them.

    Babymetal Era (2012-2017)
Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own.
Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moa-Meta, and Yui-Metal, Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui.

The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era
In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child.
In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand)
In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history.

    Distortion
    Starlight
    Metal Galaxy Era
The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3 member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH.
    Music Videos of this Era
    Pa Pa Ya
    Elevator Girl
    Shanti Shanti
    Da Da Dance
    (Avenger confusion)
Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before.
Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert was well worth it.
    COVID Era
COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger.

BABYMETAL have performed with, toured, or opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), to name a few of many. BABYMETAL has been around for TEN years and have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. If you want to see Su's crowd control, you should check out Karate at Download in 2016.... For Road of Resistance it was a home crowd.... There, it was a bunch of Westerners who probably didn't know what she was singing about, and she still got them to jump to her command. Her crowd interaction in that concert gets me teary eyed.

In other words, the audience had learned the "Wow-wow-wow" chants by watching fan cams of the London show again and again.

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。As you mentioned this was filmed in 2015, so the girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now and their performance has matured, and yet very energetic as before, Their activities have been worldwide. For example, since June last year until March this year, they performed 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan (total : 49 their own concerts + 6 appearance in festivals). The crowd involvement you saw occurs everywhere they go. If you find videos of this song performed at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019, you will see what I mean. If you want to go further, you should follow the recommendation by Grington300 300 below. "Rondo of Nightmare with the Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' intro" should be you next. A bit late to the party so it may have been mentioned in previous comments, but something that was of interest to me concerning DragonForce's collaboration on RoR, from Wikipedia: "According to Kadokawa, the song consists of twin shred guitars courtesy of (Herman) Li and (Sam) Totman (both of DragonForce), with a dynamic sound derived of melodic speed metal."
Further, according to Li & Totman, they wrote the guitar parts with such technicality & speed because they thought it would never be played LIVE. Oops! BABYMETAL'S backing group, the insanely talented, mega bad-ass KAMI Band disavowed that notion as just witnessed! To Li & Totman's credit, they eventually did perform it LIVE & with BABYMETAL. This is what's possible when you adhere to a core BABYMETAL philosophy: "Don't think. FEEL."

The collaboration with DragonForce were a few things. For one, they helped write this song. Also, at first the people that ran Download festival refused to ever let Babymetal play there. At the 2015 Download, DragonForce brought them on stage during their set to do Gimme Chocolate, so they were the band behind them. Also, DragonForce did once play the backing band for Road of Resistance at an awards show for them.

They had not even heard of metal music when they started in Babymetal. It is a concept by Kobametal a sort of a producer who hand picked Su-Metal from Karen Girls a J-pop band.
But from what has been on CZcams Su-Metal enjoys the genre. She has been playing along side the living metal god Rob Halford, that is a performance to look up, despite the crowd being really bad at that performance, like dead.
Also all bands who has done collabs with them has enjoyed it so I expect great things rom Babymetal, fans Su-metal in particular. (I think she will end up in the powermetal genre eventually if she doesn't go symphonic metal)

Great reactions to Babymetal guys. I had the privilege to see them twice last year, drove 300mi to see them in St Paul, MN & then flew to LA for their first ever USA arena show at the Forum. There is another band from Japan I saw twice last year on back to back nights @ two small clubs in NYC & they're the best "hard rock" band I've heard or seen in almost 30yrs, BAND-MAID!! You said that you don't mind long comments, so hear you go, lol. BAND-MAID was the vision of one Miku Kabato, a struggling young woman trying to break into the "idol" music industry while working as a waitress in a maid cafe. She had small success with a three member idlo group called Lil Cumin, but it really wasn't going anywhere. She always liked what she describes as "cool" music, or rock for most of us, and wanted to try and form a band that played cool music while wearing the cute maid costumes, she refers to this as "the gap". With this idea Miku approached her talent agency with the idea & they gave her the OK to try & put something together. From watching videos on CZcams, Miku discovered Kanami Tono, whom mostly played acoustic guitar & performed with a few bands, but mostly as a solo singer & song writer. Kanami eagerly agreed to join the band and suggested a drummer, Akane Hirose, whom she had worked with on various projects, and when pitched the idea she also agreed to join. Akane then suggested a girl, MISA, whom she went to music school with that played the bass guitar. MISA was a harder sell, but after thinking about it overnight reluctantly agreed to also join the band, and that was supposed to be it, a four member band that played cool music while wearing maid outfits. Miku ( me-koo ) on lead vocals, Kanami ( ka-nom-ee ) on lead guitar, Akane ( ah-con-ay ) on drums, & MISA ( me-sa ) on the bass guitar. After a very short period of time however, Miku herself realized that she didn't have the right type of vocal chops for the music she invisioned for the band & the search was on for a lead vocalist. The talent agency suggested someone Miku had heard & liked, so they brought her in for a audition & won them over. She also was very hesitant on joining, but agreed to also join, her name is Saiki ( sigh-key ) Atsumi. Again, after a short period, it wasn't working with two girls standing on stage holding microphones so it was agreed that either Miku or Saiki needed to learn the rythm guitar in order for the band to reach its full potential. Saiki tried it & was very uncomfortable, so once again Miku stepped up and agreed to learn the rythm guitar on the fly & doing mostly the harmonies and backing vocals. This was all taking place in 2013. BAND-MAID was only having moderate success in Japan and were thinking of disbanding when someone in early 2014 posted their very first music video of the song, Thrill, to Facebook and recieved over two million views in just a few days, they couldn't believe it & thought they had been hacked. At first the record company had everything written for them, but now they write & compose everything themselves. Miku (founder, lyricist, rythm guitarist, vocals, & promoter) Kanami (lead guitar & main composer) Akane ( drummer ) MISA ( bass guitar ) Saiki ( lead vocals ) I will give you two options for a first listen, the before mentioned "Thrill" which was their first ever music video & how many of us longtime fans discovered them, but was not written by them, or one of their newest posted live video performances of the song "Domination" recorded on 14 February of 2020 @ Line Cube Shibuya in Tokyo, and was entirely written by them. Can you believe that this was the condensed/short version of their history? Anyways, I hope you give these amazing talented girls a listen and I'll subscribe now in anticipation of a reaction. Thank you & take care.

@@CATCHtheSCASE just a couple other side notes on just how good these girls are, I'm sure you've heard of Jimmy Page? While visiting Japan he went to one of their concerts and was so impressed that he asked to meet them after the show. Some people will say it's because the drummer (Akane) reminded him of Led Zeppelin's late great John Bonham which cannot be proven, but there is a picture of her with Mr Page after the show that she posted & simply stated the he encouraged her to continue drumming and her response was that she would do her best. Also, music producer Tony Visconti whom produced for David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, T. Rex, and on & on, went to the same shows I attended in NYC & also asked to meet the girls after for a photo & told them that he would like to produce one of their songs, which they obviously jumped on & from that encounter came their song "The Dragon Cries" with all English lyrics ( one of only two ) & more of a 70's vibe & can be found on their last album "Conqueror", released in December of 2019. The music for that one was done in Japan, while Saiki & Miku flew back to NYC to record the vocal tracks in Mr Visconti's studio.

This IS the song they collaborated with Dragonforce on! It was cowritten by Herman Li and Sam Totman, who also played guitars on the original studio recording. They also joined Dragonforce onstage to perform this and Gimme Chocolate at the Golden Gods Awards (I think).

Baby metal is a deep foxhole their live shows are intense. You might want to check out another Japanese band called Band-Maid. All female hard rock band that will make you smile. Try "Freedom Live" and then try "Don't you tell me" live. These ladies can really play and they kick ass!

Japanese crowds quiet and reserved? You guys need to watch more, lol. I went to two concerts in Japan in 2019 (for the group BiSH) and I have never experienced an audience like it in my life. A complete madhouse for two hours straight.

This is 2 months old. But I have to comment on the crowds thing. Japanese has always had THEE most interactive crowd I have ever seen. If their idols want them to sing want them to jump they fricken do it it’s insane.
