Exploring With Josh I love your work
Sure
Exploring With Josh thank you for posting this video, you make my interest even stronger in exploring places! I wish I knew places I could explore where I wouldn’t get into trouble for. Anyways thank you so much for make it so interesting and educational 🖤🖤🖤🖤👑
DONT GO TO CHINA
@@captinrural yeah im currently here is so terrible with the virus!
If only the walls could talk, they would have a lot of stories to tell x
Omg u joined CZcams 11 years ago!!
idk if i want to hear those stories..😨
Agnetė Butkevičiūtė I don't want to 😰
Whats the x for catgirl
The patience themselves talked and who listened to them so why would you listen to walls? People that say they don't want to hear them are ashamed that every bodies ancestors had same attitude towards the ppl there and are responsible for how they got treated!
There's just something about old hospitals... Hospitals in general, really. They make me feel so sad. So many deaths. In old ones like this, straight up torture. Depressing.
tbh shouldn't asylums actully care rather then tourture?
Pug gamer 26 Is awsomr actual mental hospitals aren’t like this anymore. I should know, I’ve been to multiple.
I'm a little upset with CZcams. For the longest time I had no idea you still made videos I thought you disappeared. but I thought I would check your channel and I'm amazed at how many videos I missed. I have the bell click to all notifications and I never received any. Hell I didn't even know this video had just went up 30 minutes. Currently watching a marathon of you and that's the only way I knew. CZcams needs to get it together. And honestly dude you're bigger than CZcams at this point. People like you who carry the stupid app need to band together and get them to tighten up.
Good to see your back
@@ExploringWithJosh hi josh
Make sure you have the notifications set as all brother. If that’s not working then fuuuuuuuuuuuck CZcams.
@Katrina Totten happy evening from West Virginia
Its evening for me lol
Hey Josh there’s an abandoned school/ mental hospital in San Luis Obispo in California. It was an orphanage turned facility for mentally ill women. Called Sunny Acres or better known as Hell’s Acres.
That would be really cool to see, hope you explore there Josh!!
I agree !!
Omg that's crazy! I live so close to San Luis Obispo we go all the time, I'll look it up. Thanks😀
Ok so I looked up the place in SLO looks like they remodeled it and reopened it with ppl with mental illness .
That's a good one to explore!
Back in the 50's my aunt refused to put my down syndrome cousin in a home. He held my hand during my father's funeral many years later. I am so happy of her choice. One of my best memories.
People with Down Syndrome are some of the most compassionate people you'll ever come across. Many of them actually have to be taught not to just hug or say "I love you" to everyone they see. They have such an innocent, happy view of the world.
Hospitals are by far, my favourite when you explore them. I’m not sure why, it’s probably to stories they have, or just how creepy they are. Awesome video!🙂

Yes! I love exploring abandoned asylums doctors and hospitals theres so much history in them! A few years back I found hospital notes about what happened to patients and stuff it was creepy and cool! :)
Khai's Roblox Builds woah! That’s awesome! If you explore anything else, I’ll check out your Chanel
There is one in my town I remember when I had 2 of my children almost 40 years ago and it is abandoned they say it’s haunted looks so scary you can actually see the curtains blowing through the windows there is also attached to it is were the nurses lived maybe around the 50’s the town officials went in years ago and said it was so scary they still haven’t done anything with it my daughter wanted to go in I don’t think I could but I love watching your videos so much compassion for the places you explore I really only watch yours I can watch them every day 👍
@@johnpadilla7562 Sounds great. Where is this place?
I’m an older lady in body but not spirit. Thank you for taking me to all these places! It’s awesome. I love your energy and especially your Riseabove merch. Thanks Josh!🥰😘💕
Josh: Just an empty room :)
Rob: standing in the corner like a monster
Josh: oh not empty :o
The whole piano version of “The Last of Us” theme song just made the atmosphere even better
I came to the comments just for this, fellow TLoU fan :)
8:44 Looks like a room in American horror story asylum
thanks for the nightmares pal
Thank you for helping keep the history of the treatment of the disabled alive. We need abled voices like yours. My parents were told to put me away in an institution when I was born in 1990.
Katie my mom was told to. Put my sister in one she didn’t and I worked in that hospital it is closed now but looks so scary as I have watched the videos people explore it I am happy for you you seem to be a very smart person I am so glad you’re parents didn’t just like my sister
That’s only a year after I was born and they actually told her to institutionalize you? Despicable.

I'd be cool if you could metal detect around most places you go. Just imagine the history objects just laying in soil.
I wanna see where that smoke stack is attached too. I wonder if they burned bodies......

Thank you Josh for a very good short heart warming documentary of the State Hospital in that State, very similar to the State Hospital I was trained and worked at decades ago, good ole memories. Rise above for at least trying to get across the stream, I lucked out when I had to build a bridge but usually fell in anyways... I never got my camera equipment wet. This is your best mental hospital video I'll be watching it again peace out from me in Vt
Man, would love to ghost hunt there. The EVPs you could get would be nuts.
“Hunters nest” lol. Here in Texas we call them deer blinds.
Here in Wisconsin too
All jokes aside I do really love your videos. Yours are the only abandoned ones I like to watch.
Asylum exploration! One of my favourite kinda videos!! ❤️
Props to you for not giggling at the obscene graffiti.

Tyler Snyder ?
Tyler Snyder ohh, I know
Have a good day too ☺️
In those days Mental Asylum or Psychiatric Institutions were built out of sight of the public. About the 1980s onwards the concept of deinstitutionalization of psychiatric patients took off. Even the psychiatric terminology was changed as you mention, and it was a worldwide movement. One of the major problems with these institutions was homeless people who had no psychiatric/mental illness used these paces as motels. Hence society was easily lead to believe that moving psychiatric patients or mentally challenged clientele into a normal environment was part of the curer and the fundamental right of a human. Some scholars saw this as the government of the day unloading their responsibility on society as the cost of running these institutions was immense as one could imagine. The privatization of these institutions help to place the mentally challenged people into public view and worked for a period of time. However, not everyone could afford the cost of psychiatric care these clinics charged and today is still a controversial topic.
Working in a psychiatric institution (1984-1990) was my introduction to becoming a Registered Nurse although I don't practice today. I can go on and on about the pro's n con's of Healthcare.
I practice today and home groups can cost 5000 and up per month. Since these facilities have closed down, abuse, self neglect and expolitation have doubled. Furthermore, with the baby boomer population entering their latter years, the numbers will quadruple. Sadly, closing down these facilities did not work as planned.
@@teemoleague907 yeah I didn't think they would work as what government claimed. I can imagine abuse self-neglect and exploitation are rife. Thank you for sharing this with the world 👍
In the room where the bath tubs are with flower stickers on, the other things opposite each bath tub look like large changing tables, like what you change babies on, but obviously they are a lot bigger so not sure if they were used for older kids, I dont know, you never know in places like that, what they did or how they used to do things, a lot of things they had in those places, like those small cell like rooms and what they did to kids, exploiting them their whole life literally gives me the creeps! There obviously wasnt any compassion or humanity in these places.
Better never work in the health care field because changing a adult is pretty normal. Those tables most likely were used for people that couldn't weight bare or had severe spastic issues. My husband workes at Choate Mental Health, formally called Anna State Mental Instatution. It is over one hundred years old. All these very old instatutions were built pretty much the same. There is a fortune in marble, and reclaimable hardwood used in their construction.
@@keithparkhill8546 I thought that's what they were! I havent seen these in any other explorer video so either they had taken them out or never had them. It wasnt necessarily the changing tables that gave me the creeps, its these places in general, they look so cold, austere, just all concrete, you wouldn't have thought children had lived there, the small rooms they obviously put the children in, poss for hours.
@@katlowe1228 Rest assured the state regulations over the mental health field are the most strict in any field of medicine. I don't recommend exploring old ones. They tend to keep ancient machines in the basement. Old x-ray machines contain a solid ball of radioactive Cobalt. If the shielding is gone then you will get radiation poisoning.
Where is this place or does it have to remain a secret?
@@pamelahicks517 I looked it up, seems like the only one that closed in 2008/ 2009 and it sounds right to what Josh was saying; The Rosewood Centre (nee the Maryland Asylum and training school for the feeble minded) , est 1888. I hope this is the right one anyway!
Love your content and have been following for 4 years. Be safe, above all else!
As the title nearly says, these places were all evil,Doctors/Nurses in my mind should be named as serial killers with their treatments, lobotomy etc😐
Thankfully, health care and mental health has came a long way.
@@Kris-rf1mo - Virtually every state has closed most of their government funded mental hospitals. Most have been closed for over 30 years. That's one reason we have so many homeless individuals on the streets. It's bs! The funding Jimmy Carter signed for was withdrawn the very next year. Check out;. President Reagan repealed the Act through the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981.
I found this channel years ago when it first started, so I was there since the beginning, maybe 5 videos or so in, and i was obsessed for a while, but CZcams stopped showing me his videos FOR YEARS... but it’s so refreshing to come back and see that Josh is the exact same as he was back then .. even after the success.. I love that about him.. and love these videos ❤️
Try going to Milledgville in Georgia. An entire town with MANY abandoned mental asylums and prisons.
Josh is so cute hahah next you should check out some abandoned factories! Those are the best! Especially in the winter
Definitely love when you and R n K explore together! And I’ll still watch both of your videos 😊
hey josh you should check out the riverview abandoned asylum, it has a really interesting backstory and is located on coquitlam, bc, canada. it has also been used in a few movies including grave encounters.
14:40 lmfao .why would people even spray paint that😂
It's nice u still put everyone's name here . I still watch John Steve and Cody. Never forget your roots.
9:52 got shades of American Horror Story season 2: Asylum when they have they Christmas party and the evil Santa is killing everyone.
How the hell do you function off of 3 hours of sleep
Young sir, please get at least 8 hours of sleep. Your body needs the rest. Best wishes
Caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine.
If you ask that question please dont have children lol
Adderall
Coke
These places make me feel legit sad, but I find them fascinating at the same time. Great video Josh!
I love watching your videos. I learn about things I didn't know about. You inspire me to do Urban Exploring. ❤
Yes Rob, we have missed you terribly... and Thanks Josh for another awesome explore.. Love your vids..
Alot of ppl who do abandoned are disrespectful as far as taking shit and/or stealing or breaking stuff. I'm so proud of how far you have come with this journey. You have taught alot of us viewers lesson we may have never learned. Most adventure channels come and go but I foresee many more adventures. Thanks for taking us along.
Not that it matters but its just my opinion but your hair makes you look so much mature like this I don't know I just like it makes me feel like you also are going to get a lot less webs in it LOL keep on doing what you're doing
I agree, I like his hair a lot better this way lol.
@@kneenuh_d294 right hes a whole different guy haha.
Crush much?
abandoned places always has its own eerily beauty.. which always fascinated..
it's like time abruptly stop and froze by the things that left behind..
it's also a reminder that nothing built by man can ever stand the test of time on its own..
thanks for urban explorers like you, Josh, who's indulging your viewers with this..
be careful and stay safe..
7:33 is an old baby crib they used those for young children too!
Been following since the start & will always. I grew up in upstate NY, and really appreciate that josh is so respectful of any place he goes to. This is why he’s made it so far in his career.
I love your work, your videos are out of this world. Best youtuber ever!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Yessss!!! Ty
I can't imagine the things that happened there... Makes for a really creepy explore though!
Looks like forest haven, used to love exploring it when I lived nearby but the vandalism is disappointing. There’s a lot of incredible history in those buildings, sad and dark as it may be.
The journey was beautiful to get there. And those buildings. Back when they were new, were beautiful. Sad to see things go to waste. Thank you for sharing it with us!!! Can't wait to see RnK's (aka "Old Man") video. Two different view points show so much!
There’s a abandoned three story elementary school in my town, it’s the most terrifying place because of how huge it is, has over 8 classrooms of every elementary school grades from kindergarten to grade 8, it’s like dark deception
“Shout your stuff out” that was sweet. Seems like he cares about the people helping ☺️
- 'Cause you're in yellow like a girl?
- That's right, and i look gooood!
This is the best! Stop sexism))
Came to the comments just to see if anybody else caught that. Love this sm.
Love this channel ❤thanks Josh for letting us all explore with you ❤
Most people think abandoned buildings/places are scary but I think they are amazing and sometimes even beautiful. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You should visit Searcy hospital in Mount Vernon Alabama. It’s super creepy and Awesome. It’s said that Geronimos remains are buried on the property.
You should carry with you lightweight wellies, the ones you can hang on your backpack. Or use gore-tex shoes, they dont get soaking wet. Take care of yourself, that upstairs floor looked kind of scary to walk on.
In new orleans they have a abandoned hospital called Charity Hospital . they closed it in 2005 due to the hurricane . they can't tear it down since the whole building is made out of cement. And it's important
I love seeing places like this because you never really know the stories behind them of which is kinda sad but you never know! You never know why it shut down or where all the patients went?
18:58 First hotel of the night? Gee, you really needed some sleep dude.
Great to see you exploring... Mad love and support coming to you love your channel... From North Carolina
Honestly, I don’t get how these buildings just stands there to sooner or later colapse. Like, such a waste of building and equipment even tho I know it have been used.
Takes money and resources and in some cases, clearance that’s hard to get for buildings to be knocked down.
You guys missed the abandoned rehabilitation community next door.
Watching your videos for many years and I want to say thanks. Because watching your videos cure my depression, you're an upbeat and uplifting person that give me inspiration to live life and explore.
2 years ago, I was tired of looking at abandoned hospital photos. I decided to try CZcams for real video. You were the top search result! Followed you ever since. You have inspired me to Urbex. I even have a board on Pinterest called I ❤ Urbex! Keep those videos coming!
Who else loves watching Josh and his team explore 🙃
Love the way you take advantage of shadows and light in your filming. You have some fantastic pictures.
Would love to see some exploring in a old Missile Silo!
Reading yahoo and came across an article or liza Minnelli abandoned mansion looks good, love to see it recorded
I noticed that every episode of Scooby Doo had a villain that was trying to scare people off the land. 👻 Abandoned castles, mansions, skyscrapers, domes, star forts, cities, islands. Why aren't there any abandoned homeless shelters or tent cities? 🏰🏛🏟🏯🌆⛺🛒🏖
It was a journey to adventure just to get to those buildings. Creepy but worth the trip, great video Josh !
I'm so grateful your able to show us these places! Thank You...
No matter how old or newly abandoned a place is i think it’s just amazing how fast nature quickly takes back over. Nature is a powerful living thing that can not be controlled. Just imagaine if everyone left there city/town for say 10 years I wonder what it would look like when they returned etc. Pretty cool stuff 🙂💯👍
I explored this place in 2006 while it was partially active. It was very creepy back then! Nice job documenting what it looks like now. There were sooooooooo many places in the area to explore it was a UE dream! Not so much now. Be safe & leave no traces. Peace!
I wish you would do the ospedale psychiatric asylum in Italy heard it's really cool😁
Like the outside of the buildings but the inside is depressing.
Amazing new adventure again and again. I love it. Wish to experiment it. Josh is getting way more dreamier and gorgeous more then ever !!
I have a question, Josh! How come these buildings are no longer accessible by like road or something, if they were still open 12 years ago? Love your videos :)
Go to Fairfield Hills in Connecticut
Ooooh Josh! I knew there was something I liked about you. That's 🔥🔥 I'd love to go on a date with you to your favorite abandoned place. That's sweet your letting us in to your world. We all need a place to escape, some throw themselves into their jobs, relationships, some to their secret places. I hide myself with nature and disc golf.
just imagine the hurt, pain, sorrow, & hopelessness that was @ these places
As someone who’s been in a mental hospital before I’m glad they’re not like that anymore.
Nice to see Old man Rob...I mean RNK on this explore. Scary place but very cool.
Here is a good idea. Invest in hiking boots. They do have better grip when hiking through stuff and water.
I went there last year & only got into one building. Couldn’t find a way into the others sadly ..
megan shaffer where is it at
Just found this video. Judging by the information Josh gave about the place, the surroundings and the way it looks on the outside I'm 99% sure its located in my home town. I've actually done a lot of research on it in the past and I used to drive by it all the time. Always got weird vibes. It's pretty much been completely demolished at this point and as far as I know the land was going to be used to expand some big school campus. Pretty sad.
Just caught this one! Looks awesome! Can't wait to watch!! :))) Great work Josh!!...glad you have your team with you!!
In my county in my state we used to have 2 asylums we still have one active asylum and the other one is now an extension office.
You should visit Old Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, AL. It is a very old abandoned insane asylum that was built in the 1850s.
I've now gone through most of your videos and I'm hooked. Great channel. You've absolutely put the work in and I subbed. Great content! Stay safe man!
Thanks a ton
Those torn up mats you saw are actually called crash pads
Come to philippines and explore hospital in clark, pampanga.
This place is so spooky but I like the aesthetics.Your cinematography is beautiful! Like something right out of a movie.
Josh. Take advice from a hiker
Go to Walmart and get yourself a cheap set of aluminum trekking poles. It'll help keep your balance when doing those water crossings. Plus you can test how deep the water / mud holes are.
Josh!!! I love your videos! Always keep up the great work!!!
You're a braver person than me! I loathe driving and I avoided busy roads! Far too scary for me!
my favorites are the abandoned hospitals for sure
You guys should come to the old hospital here in waxahachie TX. Its abandoned.
Nice to see you back with RNK for a bit you guys make good content
Man I started watching this cHannel when you had maybe 15 videos up and you’ve come so far! I’m super proud of you! I love this channel so much
