Lyrics:
Hey there,
I know it's hard to feel like I don't care at all.
Where you are and how you feel.
With these lights off as these wheels
keep rolling on and on. (and on and on and on...)
Slow things down or speed them up.
Not enough or way too much.(and on and on and on...)
How are you when I'm gone?
And I can't make it on my own.
(And I can't make it on my own.)
Because my heart is in Ohio.
So cut my wrists and black my eyes.
(Cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, or die.
Because you kill me.
You know you do, you kill me well.
You like it too, and I can tell.
You never stop until my final breath is gone.

I’m not scared to admit when I was in middle school and high school this song was literally my theme song! Bad bad memories and hopeless nights! But now I’m nearly 30 with an amazing husband and two beautiful children!!!! It’s so possible to make it out. Don’t give up!!!
as if your heartattack for a lifestyle was worth replicating
Same I almost died in High school I’ve been suicidal since 11. Now 23 with four degrees, 2 houses, a kid and a husband. All worked hard for nothing handed to me. Pour into your self you deserve to bloom
I second this (: glad you’re doing well
Well said your comment deserves more thumbs up but one thing that I've learned through my own personal journey is that sometimes we don't want to give up the bad stuff because it's too familiar. Have to take responsibility for our own lives. Sometimes we get a sick pleasure from the torture, a large part of suffering is our own creation and people don't want to realize that

Feeling this 😂
I was about 14 when an optician recommended this song to me. I was collecting my new glasses and he saw that I was wearing a Black Veil Brides t shirt. He was into the same sort of music as me, just at a different time. He asked me if I knew Hawthorne Heights, I said no. So he wrote the name down for me to take home and listen to. This is how I'm here now almost 7 years later, listening to this song. I listened to this a lot when I discovered HH. Sometimes I come across this song after not hearing it for ages and it reminds me to give it a listen.
Whoever that optician was, thanks for recommending this band! I appreciate it all these years later.

I saw this and said, "Oh please tell me you're thirty?" hahahahaha
Bro, this is a legitimately well produced song. Like it’s honestly perfect. Vocals, rhythm, drums.
Weird I stumbled on this again just today. Was gonna comment that I have an old cd before final mix/mastering from the studio when it closed down. Can't even remember if I was there or someone gave it to me. Also can't remember if me or someone else wrote "Ohio is for Screamers" on it, but it's definitely way less perfect lol.

THIS IS MY ROARIIIIIIIIING, ROARING 20s
It's time to "bring back" _some_ kind of aggressive rock music. Most of what is popular right now is _way_ out of step with what's going on in the world.
Edit: I say "bring back" because it's not really gone per se. It's just not popular, but there are many bands out there doing their thing. It would just be nice if rock reached the mainstream again.
I gotta say I saw them live a few years ago. and it was amazing. they didn't once play this song and we all begged for an encore. and then the MOMENT the first chord struck everyone got so amped up. I've never seen a group of emo kids so excited and full of life. Always going to be a favorite memory and one I'd love to repeat and see again.
Damn I haven't heard this song in so long. 35 now... I think I was 15-16 when this came out, so you know I was feeling those lyrics hard lol.

2006 I graduated 🎓 HS....and yes my lil sis used to watch those TV shows! So funny you mention that.
Nope. Seen an ad for a local venue holding a limited viewing of Hawthorne Heights and I thought, "Well I'll be damned. Cut my wrists and black my eyes here we gooooo." To the comment section. Of youtube.
Who's still jamming this post covid?
Anyone miss their childhood days?
First time I've ever heard it today and I've listened to it about 100 times haha
The good old days
I do!
We're far from "post covid" here in the Philippines but yeah.. this brings back a lot of memories
@@reneportal542 yeah no shit right! Just got covid this past Saturday. Had a fever for four days. That shit literally hell 💯
These lyrics randomly popped up in my head 😂 im 31 & i still remember this song from my childhood. I played this out when I was 12/13. Still a banger 😂❤
Ill be 40 this year but this genre is still my favorite and reminds me of the best years of my life.
How old were you in 05 lmao

i feel like the youngest person here....... im 15 and its four in the morning... just listening to my favourite song..... i should sleep.....
@@larceniexd i’m 21 and have been into this music since i could remember. i had really young parents, they were kinda emo. my stepdad wore guyliner and my mother colored her hair black. i was 4 singing marilyn manson and coal chamber and then i fell in love with screamo, my fav song at 5 was my eyes burn by matchbook romance. my parents had a tumultuous relationship that shouldn’t have lasted as long as it did so while they were listening to emo songs about each other i was learning the words and asking for them to play it. i got so see hawthorne heights and armor for sleep this year and meet them after, it was one of the best nights of my life. even all this time later they still sound young and fresh.
THIS SONG IS GOLD PURE GOLD ALWAYS HITS NEVER STOPED LISTEING TO THIS
This song and music genre will never die. Makes me nostalgic of my younger emo days 🖤
Same here 👊🏻
Based one piece pfp
This is a jam 🤘 but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🔥🤘
trust me, elder emos, we're making sure that emo never dies.
Bless.
Lmfao
I guess I'm considered an elder emo now, but let me say, youngin'; as long as I can breathe I will be screaming. 🤘🫡
Although I was never emo, I did have that hairstyle. Miss this music, playing football and using songs like this to get hyped up before the games. Last good generation with good music imo. I’ve been on “taste of ink” “taking back Sunday” path today and I’m just going down memory lane apparently.
You apparently were Emo.
@@Anonymous-wb3nzTell me you have no clue what emo is without telling me.
I’m a huge metalcore & deathcore kid… still at 35… yet find myself singing and listening to this often… it’s a lifestyle… not a phase
Not to mention… bangers are foreverrrr!!! 🎉🎉
I get high on:
⚪️ weed
⚪️ life
🔘 that part during Ohio Is For Lovers by Hawthorne Heights when they say “SO CUT MY WRIST AND BLACK MY EYES”
Very creative. You earned a like
The guitar part before that line, I flip my emo hair...either one they’re both awesome
DEATH 666
Win comment.
everyone who says they went through a phase of emo music it wasn’t a phase you got so attached to the music that it’s still with you deep down and whenever you hear songs like these that side of you comes out
You feel EVERY lyric
"Slow things down or speed them up? Not enough or way too much? How are you when I'm gone?" 🖤
I remember seeing Hawthorne heights at warped tour when it was a torrential downpour. Amazing show. Almost 20 years later I’ll never forget that feeling, I looked around like man this is EPIC! Thanks for the memories 🥰
I'm 32 and I'm still listening to this song...
33... the same
I'm 33 and scream this song in the pouring rain! Real talk
Me too but I’m 31
38....ouch
Same. Fuck yeah dude
Back when I was 18 my homie got me into music like this. I only used to listen to rap or country music. I'm 40 now and he passed away 10 years ago. Whenever I'm rolling I put this on and think of him and remember all the good times. Kinda like a music video in my head.
Prayers & condolences 💐 🙏
It makes me so happy seeing kids find this music for they first time and enjoying it, I remember what that felt like. They’re the ones who are going to carry emo so it can live on
This song just hits a nostalgic nerve in my body. Not only about the song but about certain memories and moments in my life. The good and the bad. Definitely a certified classic
no other music hits like the music you listened to when you were young.
Anyone else here after JT’s reveal on TIKTOK that the mic hanging down is actually that way because the director forgot the mic stand? 😂😂
Dude I literally just saw that and remembered this song and looked it up and right when the beat dropped my wife who's soon to be 28 was like "with! Whats that song" and I'm like babe...really
Yes 😂
LMAO yeah
Yep! ;)
Yes
Omg hearing this song after so many years brings back so many memories! 😭
Same here.
type in bones-nightmare
With you
Elizabeth Perez it's been months for me
19 years later this still hits the same ❤️❤️
I’m 41 and this brings back memories 😂
The hanging microphone is so iconic. I’ve been introducing my younger cousin to original iconic emo songs/artists, and the first thing she said when I showed her this music video was, “I like how the microphone is hanging”. I wish music videos were still made like this.
youre a great brother
Uh no he said cousin
@@limabeangames lmao
@@br00talhonestytwenty one pilots has it in fairly local mv (I believe that song haven't watched vid in a while)
My 10 year old loves this song. Im teaching him how to play it on acoustic.
The scene isnt dead. We're just tired.
Wish I had parents like this :(
Parenting level 99999
💯
Tired after about 10-15 years of chasing kids around and working a shit hole job to feed said children lol.
Older but still very sensitive LOL
40 years old, this was the song that made me give a new genre a chance, I've never heard anything like this again.
It really hits home being from Ohio and moved To Washington State, then back home to Ohio after 16 years. . .
"Because my heart is in Ohio"
