powerlifting is still a bit of a joke, using weak and clueless spotters on massive weight, misloading barbells, fuck all ROM on bench sometimes and apparently it wasn't even the judges that noticed this guy so there's no one inspecting lifters before or after their attempts

The easiest cheat of all, and you won't get caught: go buy yourself a trophy. And some blue ribbons too. It's no less of a win than doing what this guy did.

@@Dr.WhetFarts well… every ipf lifter is tested in meet and randomly tested out of meet. Very difficult to cheat when you dont know when your next drug test is and cant plan a cycle. Do some get away with it? Probably… but the vast majority dont.

I used to wear 5mm Rehband knee sleeves before wearing both ST and SBD 7mm sleeves. From what I can tell, 5mm sleeves, especially Rehband ones, bunch up REALLY easily due to their weird leg-conforming shape. Even if they were tight, you'd see some musculature under the sleeves, as i've seen with tight fitting SBD ones; If you review his squats, his sleeves look all lumpy.
He probably did both, when you think about it
I believe he was also wearing a squat suit, due to that struggle to hit depth, a common thing with equipped lifters

That’s not a bench shirt. That was something like a sling shot or a catapult or ram. As far as his knee wraps go it was possible he was wearing light knee wraps. Even if it was a single ply shirt, his arms would have been much higher up.

Don’t think it was a squat suit. Possibly might be pair of Titan Superior briefs. They’re legless briefs- so they are probably right above where the inzer singlet ends
When you look back the Europeans from 2 months ago and all his national level meets, he did it everywhere.

The legs on a normal inzer singlet are way too short to conceal briefs. Suit is out of the question as you could conceal the straps at all. Also, briefs would cause the leg to look weird where the cuffs compress (which is how an Indian athlete got found out in 2019 at the Uni world's i think, she was wearing the inzer power singlet which covers a lot more). Generally people will squat wider and more hip dominant in briefs or suits, so way more likely he was hiding wraps.

magnum rams (there are other variations too) if anyone wants to look it up. They work basically the same way as a slingshot, but they're put together slightly differently to mimic a bench shirt

Hey I'm pretty new to lifting or going to the gym in general and I know nothing about any bodybuilding, mr.olympia and powerlifting comptetitions and their rules, so could someone explain me what happened in this instance? What is a raw tournament? (I would assume no steroid use atleast?) What the hell is a slingshot (in this context) and what did he have on his wrists and how did they help him in his lifts?
Raw means no helping gest like lifting suits or belts
If you still want to know:
A slingshot is a band that goes on your upper arms and stretches over your chest to make the bench easier (basically pulling your arms together). a bench suit is similar just heavier duty.
The things around his wrist are called wrist wraps, and are there to keep his wrist inline with his elbows, reducing injury and slightly helping force transfer to the bar, this is allowed in this tournament I'm assuming.
He basically used equipment where he wasn't allowed to and attempted to hide it from elite level competitors, coaches and judges.
Raw vs equipped. You can look up all of the rules on the IPF's website. The IPF does not allow steroid use in either raw or equipped lifting. You are expected to compete in a non-drug tested federation if you are on PED's.
There is "personal attire" in raw lifts.. notably the single ply suit, lifting belt, knee sleeves, wrist wraps are all allowed as they do not offer an incredibly significant advantage and are moreso there to protect the lifter from injury. Equipped lifting on the other hand can have a dramatic effect on how much you are able to lift.
A slingshot is basically a strap tucked between your elbows that goes over the chest that keeps your elbows tucked at the bottom of the bench, allowing you to press more. I do not know how significant of an adv.. it's nothing too extreme, but it's an unfair adv. none the less. The wraps he had on his wrist are allowed and they keep your wrists from bending too far backwards, they don't help you lift more, they are just there to protect the wrists.
The wraps he used in this video that he cheated with are knee wraps that he used under his knee sleeves. The knee sleeves can help you squat a tad bit more and are there to protect your knees. Knee wraps on the other hand, are wrapped very tightly around the knees giving the lifter an incredibly stiff walk and can increase your squat 100+ LB if wrapped correctly.
The entire thing about a slingshot is that it's this tight elastic thing across your chest that keeps your arms tight to your body.. so as u lower the weight on to your chest your elbows naturally are coming outwards so they're fighting against the slingshot on the way down so while you're bringing the bar down at the bottom the slingshot is fighting against you to bring your arms back in.. so when u finally decide to press back up all that force fighting against u is now force helping u to press the bar back up

They’re lifting aids and they’re definitely illegal to wear at a raw meet.
He’s hiding them but they are ridiculously easy to see, especially the slingshot (bench shirt.. kinda) which is why his arms are locked in that position before and after he lifts. He knows they’re quite obvious too which is why he’s running around trying to hide them before people notice
