I live in the Charlotte area but was born and rasied in Bridgeton. There was always electricity in the air when you went to either a cardinal game or a blues game. It was so hard to get anywhere near the parade and I was at the courthouse. But man was it ever a great time anyway! Everyone was so cool and as crowded as it was there was no drama til we hit the metro link station back and some of the non fans were pretty fuckin rude. My best friends pregnant wife got shoulder checked by a guy and he tried to act tough with her lol wrong choice. He almost got put to bed for the day but he quickly realized he was not going to make it if he kept it up. Seeing the Stanley Cup with my own two eyes is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life and maybe the next life as well. Couldn’t ask for a better day or a better team to bring it home finally! 31 years I’ve been able to understand hockey existed and I’ve bled blue the whole time. Couldn’t be happier. Steel Republic since St. Louis is such a small city and surrounding area geographically, it’s an easy way to find out what part of the area you are from. Asking which high school you went to has become kind of a joke because it’s such a St. Louis thing to ask. By the way, what high school did you go to?😂🥅🏒

    • @CaleSchmitz
      @CaleSchmitz Před 5 lety

      The psychology behind the question, as a Saint Louisan, is that it's a a generally accepted question to break the ice when meeting new people. But! It's so much more because Saint Louis is a case-study in socio-economic rapid change.
      Saint Louis is known in economic circles due to capital flight and rapid change with regard to the middle-class moving away from the city core to suburban lifestyles. This city has a dark history of racism and or divide.
      As many know racism doesn't just go away. It is very normal to see in Saint Louis, as a family of any sort becomes more wealthy or well-off, they move towards the suburban areas-- farther away from the city core. This is mostly because there are more opportunities for the children, more space to live in, and in general more freedom.
      It's crazy but it's real. I'm ashamed to say but "White Flight" is a thing here for a few generations now. We as a culture NEED uniting events like this Cup to help bring us closer.
      The big difference is living standards and income equality, when the poor and the rich can get together and revel about a common Joy is there gfd Cup, things can get better!
      Let's go Blues!!!!!

    • @hugenose8824
      @hugenose8824 Před 5 lety +1

      Steel Republic The high school one went to is a big part of a St. Louisian’s identity. It’s easy way to know where you grew up, and it’s an easy ice breaker. No one really cares, but it’s just an easy question like “Where’d you grow up is.” High school is also a bigger thing culturally here than it is elsewhere. No idea why, but it is.

    hey blues fans, take a look at the hit that got Barbashev (fitting name, as he is a total barbarian from the stone age) suspended a game. it's EXACTLY the same hit he put on Tomas Hertl to knock him out of the game and the series. He had all the time in the world to set up his check, and both times he plants a shoulder ccheck right on the cchin of the other player - Johannson (I think it was) in the finals, and Hertl in game 5. That was the only way this team could have ever gotten past San Jose. The Sharks were clearly at least 3 times better than the Blues. all the blues could do was try to injure the Sharks skill players - and they did, finally. with the refs' permission. great job, st louis blues. you completely cheapened the Stanley cup and the nhl. the Stanley cup is just a big clunky tin piece of trash this year, and maybe for all years to come, if the refs and the league continue to sponsor DIRTY, CHEAP, BARBARIC brand of hockey, like the blues chose to play.
    and you know, whaat pisses me off most of all, is not that the refs allowed them to head hunt their opponents, and assault the other team's skill players. it really isn't. what pisses me off more than anything! is the waay the refs not only allowed that, BUT HTEY EVEN MADE CHINTSY LITTLE F*CKING PENLATY CALLS AGAINST THE SHARKS!!!!! that is maddening.
    Whatever. I don't even care. enjoy it st louis. but remember game 5 of the Finals. that was the defining moment of this series. watch the looks on your own team's faces after that moment, when the refs chose to ignore yet another obvious penalty (you couldn't have a more obvious tripping penalty!). All of the blues team had the most guilty look on their faces. like they knew that the game - and eventually, the series - was HANDED TO THEM by the refs, and the league office.

LOL.probably he was too stunned with guilt at ultimately getting away with it. maybe knew, deep down, that he and 99% of his teammates were a bunch of junkyard apes who will be hatted forever by hockey fans for ruining the Stanley cup and the nhl playoffs. I wouldn't hate allie pussytrangelo so much if not for elbowing pavelski into the boards in game 5 - WITH THE GAME ALREADY DECIDED - and then PUSS out of a fight afterwards. ah well, hopefully he will make the mistake of dropping the gloves with Michael Haley next year. Gonna get his face bashed UP! how would you like that, MF'er?? to see yor boyfriend,allie pusstrangelo, get his face pummelled? they gotta get their payback sooner or later, bro. pussytrangelo, Sammy blais, braden schenn .. they need to be fuct up BAD. they need a really good ride head first into the boards. everyone in the league sees how they are. lot of guys have taken down their numbers over this season, and especially, the playoffs.they'll get their come-uppance.
