This amp is underrated power wise it outputs 242watts in 4ohm in stereo I drive a pair of monarch dj 3004 huge dual 15 inch woofers and horn it just gets crazy loud I love mine I have the remote also beware of scratchy knobs but I solved the issue by prising off the led light ring from input selector now its fine this amp is mental I love it 😀

to fix it properly you need to remove the input selector assembly, desoder the ALPS unit from the PCB, remove and disassemble the 4 rotary encoders and clean them, you also need to clean the assembly for the LED, after that you'll have a great unit complete with its LED.

Someone throw away this amplifier on the nature strip. I was walking my dog and stumble upon this. Quick inspection, it was worth taking home to see what I can do. It was damn heavy. I've gave it a quick clean with a pressure blower. A few silver fishes ran out of the unit as it was outside for a while. There was a bit of rain that day. I thought I will leave it to dry for an hour or so before power it on. It power on well. Hooked it up to my speakers and the right main channel had no sound. I was lucky to find a service manual for this. I am just know the basic with volt meter. The only thing that I could understand and do from the service manual was to check the idle voltage of the main channels. The right one was way off. I have hope. I've adjusted the dial to bring the voltage to spec. Hooked it up again and I was surprise that both main channels now work. During the process, I 've got a little bit of an electric shock as my skin touches the board momentarily.

The volume control is also, they physically turn if you have the remote, it's a super nice feature that I which amps were still doing today. They don't anymore simply due to cost of the mechanism, everything today is built to a price and as such suffers for it.

      haha, how little you know.
This is one of the best amplifiers ever produced for the consumer market using discrete transistors to create a class ab amplifier with insane low THD and crazy performance. Nothing today even comes close to the performance of the amplifiers in these older era high end devices.
Back when these were in common use it was common to have a graphic equaliser for your EQ needs, they were quite a common living room appliance in your audio rack, as such the amplifier only needed minimal tonal controls which once set were usually never touched. Amplifiers of this era were doing their best to not colour the audio, these tonal controls were for people that could not afford an EQ or needed to tune the device to get a flat frequency response out of their speakers as not all speakers are created equally. Also this amp has a "Direct" mode, which physically bypasses all the internal digital and tonal controls using a set of relays so you have complete control over the audio when feeding it from a graphic eq, or you can go one step further and disconnect the pre-amp from the amplifiers on the rear (removable cross connects) and directly feed the amplifier modules from other equipment.
When it comes to audio quality, power and build quality these older amplifiers are a class above what you can buy today as there was fierce competition between the manufacturers to make better amps, they were not built to a price point and most of them were made in Japan to a extremely high standard. I mean, the PCB in this particular amp is screwed down with pure copper screws (yes copper) to ensure good grounding to the chassis for noise rejection.
Also unlike modern amps, they were designed to be repaired, service manuals and full schematics are easy to obtain for these devices, and internally everything is designed in such a way that it's easy to test/probe and trace faults in them.

The tiny knobs are perfect, even better that they're hidden behind a panel, this looks much better, much cleaner, less cluutered, you don't need adjustment knobs on the outside as you set them once and very rarely adjust them again, the remote has lots of controls on it.
