"This Island Earth" excerpts (Reconstructed color version of "War of the Planets" from 16mm)

Until the release of the Universal 8 400 foot version, excerpts of "This Island Earth" were never made available in color. This is a color and widescreen reconstruction of the 8 minute version I made from a 16mm IB Technicolor print.

I'm amazed that the Metaluna Mutant was cut from this Castle Films release. They should have included a few shots of it, even if it didn't make any sense in their excerpted plot. The monster-loving kids of America were short-changed!

As a kid they used to have 16 mmmm short versions made by Castle films aka William Castle of the horror movie genre .this is how I remember this as War of the planets a short clip with subtitles because they did not have audio at the time.

I have the Castle 16mm, B&W sound version of this. Also have the Universal 8 16mm color excerpts from This Island Earth, but it's 800 ft. in length. Would love to know more of the back story to this?
