I swear that boy has 3 lungs. Adam has the best vocals in the world, with a ton of power behind every note.
He came in 2nd because they didn't want someone of his sexual orientation to win a "Family show"
But it worked out in his favor, because he is now the Frontman of Queen, which he wouldn't have been able to do if he had won
All they do is promote people of his orientation. Even survivor first winner was that way.

This man is amazing!!! The only reason he lost was because he's gay. But, he showed them, touring with Queen for years plus releasing his own stuff.
The winner, Kris Allen, was married and during the season there were questions about Adam’s sexuality and then some pictures surfaced of Adam kissing his then boyfriend and apparently America didn’t want a gay American Idol, which was the best thing that happened because he would’ve had to work with AI producers and who knows what kind of songs he would’ve had to release.
This way, he was able to do his music. The members of Queen were told about him during the season and he got to sing with Queen at the finale. The rest is history with Adam as the Queen frontman since around 2012

Funny story. My sheltie just laid on my bed watching this talent show but stood up and watched every week as soon as Adam hit the stage and started to sing. When Adam put down the Mike my sheltie laid back down and put his butt toward the tv...every time.
Can we all agree that Adam and can sang not sing but sang. Gave me goosebumps have loved him ever since American Idol❤

He should have won… but was best thing for him he come 2nd , if he won he would be tied up with idol contract, putting out music not his own… but as it was, he was free to make his own songs and join Queen when they came knocking !

That was the season I stopped watching Idol, because he should have won. He was totally robbed, but so glad he is where he is today.

He was too "controversial" for american idol. I don't disrespect Kris's journey, he was very very good, but this mf should have won. Just my opinion. Hugs from Sweden.

Great reaction! I love Adam I remember voting for him every week he’s amazing so is his voice, there’s more great songs he did on idol He sang Led Zeppelin’s ( Whole Lotta Love) this is the performance that Queen was told to watch and the rest is history!!!

Adam came second. The winner was Kris Allen. And they were very kind and supportive of one another so I don’t want to be disrespectful to Kris who is an excellent singer (I love his cover of aint no sunshine) and was an incredible supportive ally at a time when it wasn’t as easy as it is today, but let’s just say Kris and the rest of the audience was shocked when Adam didn’t win that night. I think Adam has a very unique talent and I believe he deserved to win. (Kris really does seem like a great guy and he is extremely talented. I do feel bad everyone is mean to him just because he won and Adam didn’t)
Adam lost because he was gay, and in 2009 American Idol voters could not let a gay singer win. Add to that Gokey's voters swung to the other straight singer with the cute little wife, and the AT&T voting mass voting contiversies on Finals night, And Kris won. Best thing that ever happened to Adam.

Right before the American Idol finale the tabloids outed him. Crazy part is he’d been out for years, it just was not the right time. Now no one would care. And btw, it takes balls to take on Sam Cooke… And yes that’s Paula Abdul. Gotta check out her video Cold Hearted Snake. She had it going on!! She was the choreographer for the stars. Ever seen Janet? Paula was her choreographer.
This is a prime example where the public voted for the wrong individual, Adam definitely should have won but as many others he has a great successful career, in my opinion, the only 2 idols that won and have been successful is Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood

First, there is not nearly enough attention paid to Sam Cooke by reactors. Good for you for choosing one of his signature songs. Adam Lambert managed to parlay his experience on Idol to forge an amazing career. Many who compete in these shows lose and go on to win. Jennifer Hudson, Gabriel Henrique, Angelina Jordan all come to mind. Adam made Cher cry some years later with her song "Do you believe in life after love" at the Kennedy Center Honors!!

People say over and over how Idol 'owns' the winners and it's better to not win, when 19 signs the top 5(might even be top 10) for their 1st album; it's just not true. I think winners tend to not do well, or at least not become massive stars, because people don't actually know what they want. You can see this repeated in everything- things carefully crafted to appeal to the most people, what the majority say they want, tend to flop. People say they want more of what they know they like already, but then are bored when they get it.
All that being said, Kris is doing alright. Out of curiosity I looked up his current net worth a few days ago. 3.5 million. He ain't starving.
They both earned the title, really. Kris is talented.

There’s several contestants that didn’t win and became more popular than the winners .. ex: Adam JHud Chris Daughtry Katherine Mcvie etc .. I think because they weren’t obligated to a contract w American idol and they got the exposure for being on the show and were able to do what they wanted ..

No he didn’t win… But if you look back at the past seasons most of the people who didn’t win are bigger than the person who actually won their season. Apart from Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, and Jordan Sparks who won… where are the other winners at? Other people who are still relevant today like Adam Lambert, Todrick Hall, Jennifer Hudson, Kellie Pickler, Katherine McPhee, and Chris Daughtry all lost their seasons. I’m probably missing some, but my point is most of the people who didn’t win are still relevant and the ones who won have faded away and haven’t seen or heard anything from them in the mainstream…

NO one could've beaten Adam on AI. He is just too good. What an amazing voice! I believe once Queen entered the picture and wanted Adam, that he gladly accepted 2nd place so he would NOT be tied to Idol and could go with Queen. Truly amazing man!
