    Other Tip: for those armor smithing, it seems pants/legs has the highest exp to resource ratio. Chest pieces give the most exp per crafted item, and gloves and boots use the least resources but least exp. Pants are the happy medium!

      Something else to note is that you can do the math of whats gonna give you the exp by multiplying the exp it gives with how many you can make to get the amount of exp youll get and ofc this works with everything good luck

    For a person how has 100+ on all prof, it goes like this: Engineering - Spear to level up. Armorsmith/Outfitting- Iron/Seel braces/Leather Gloves - you combine and bounce between both crafting stations. Stonecutting - should be obvious - stones and in between gems. Cooking - obvious - you craft rations until you bleed. Arcana - Potions - also pick the highest rating skill potion and craft those - in between craft motes. I did like over 200k gold just buy crafting tools, and those sell almost immediately. Jewelcrafting - this can be hard as you need gems, I brought mines from the trade post (a lot of it) - you also won't be able to sustain all the time to craft rings as you need gems first. Crafting jewelcraft settings isn't enough. You need to craft rings/amulets. The hardest profession to level up was Furnishing, this took awhile, really, and it's huge resource sink, but having those Iron Chest is a must. With 20k house and at lvl 30+ rep (assuming you have taken Storage perks), you will end up with 2300+ storage space (this also includes 4 Iron Chests). As for the weaponsmith, Longswords, the rest is huge resource sink.

  • @minmaxmedia
    @minmaxmedia Před 3 lety

    One thing you didn't mention in the video was that using those higher tier materials when crafting not only affects the possible min/max gear score, but it also increases the chance of getting the additional perks, meaning you may not only get a better crafted item, but you can use up LESS Azoth to get that same "very high" chance at getting those additional perks that are so desirable to have which is helpful if you are running low on Azoth or crafting a lot of an item to sell on the market. Take for example, the crafting of Starmetal tools. By default, you could use the lowest tier of resources that the recipe requires with some Azoth and you'd probably get a "green" quality tool with 2 perks. However, if you elect to use some of the higher tier materials like Layered Leather and higher tier wood, you'd probably end up with a "blue" quality tool with THREE perks. And these tier quality tools can sell for much, much higher amounts of gold especially if you get really optimal perks.

But let me say that it feels very liberating that you can do ANY sort of crafting in this game without being forced to specialize in it. IMO this game's crafting grind is very deep and rewarding. I do have the skill leveled up to lvl80 now. Past level 50 I started to see alot of difference, getting the secret chest drops more often. Like 2-5 every hour. But, I would only recomend you to use the Fishing Rod, Once you got some Gear+Fishing Chance perks equiped. This will help you to improve so much faster. And at least start directly with Rod Tier 3. Dont bothing using tier1.

    • @Frosty-oj6hw
      @Frosty-oj6hw Před 3 lety +4

      It's not like Crowfalls player based economy, but it does a few things to encourage a healthy economy.
      First of all food, potions, ammo, are primarily player crafted, you don't find much these things during questing yet they're regular consumables and so require the player economy (or doing it yourself). A lot of the mats for complex items like advanced food, these are spread out through different zones in the game including lower level zones, so much of the time mats needed for more complex recipes can't efficiently be gathered by 1 person and require trading to exchange. I find myself constantly short on at least 1 or 2 ingredients in complex food recipes and having to go to the trader and get good prices for listing ones I have excess to sell.
      Armour and weapons take durability hits during combat and especially after death, and the game is more PvP focused which results in a lot of repairing, so you need to craft gear and then salvage it for repair parts, this is a constant demand over time. Repair parts can be crafted into repair kits and sold on the trader.
      Player crafted items, especially near end game become the best items in the game. Normally that would only keep an economy going for a short while until everyone has BIS. However there is a lot of RNG involved in crafting gear. You can RNG different rarity of items and it's unlikely you'll craft the most rare item in your tier. You also have RNG on the gear score, between a lower and upper bound value. Then you also have RNG on how many perks you get and what random perks they are. Which means crafting perfect BIS items will take an insane amount of crafting attempts. I foresee the end game being people chasing BIS items that get closer and closer to being perfect, with those items being increasing worth more in value. Having to craft so much will mean a healthy drain on mats and so fluid player economy.
      For example say I craft a top Tier5 ring which is between 500-600 gear score. First of all I need to be lucky and have it be a legendary craft which is unlikely. Then I need the gear score to ideally be as close to the upper bound of 600 as possible, and then I need all of the bonuses it comes with (I think 5 in total) to be the ones I want. The odds of getting a perfect legendary 600 gear score ring that has all 5 bonuses I specifically want is going to be absurdly low. If you've got lots of cash end game and you have say a legendary ring with 585 gear score and the perks you want you'll buy that same variant again if you can find one that has 593 gear score for example. And then again later if there's one with 597 and so on. I think people will be chasing perfect builds for years.
      And of course multiply that by all the gear slots have. And then multiply that by the fact that people can re-spec their character at any time to be a completely different build and require an entirely different gear set...that's a lot of crafting.

    • @Obenfiquista81
      @Obenfiquista81 Před 3 lety

      @@Frosty-oj6hw Wow dude… Thank you so much for the time it took you to write this i really appreciate it!!! I have been playing Crowfall and it has a similar feeling that you can craft insane items, a little bit like getting those unique rare items you grind from action-RPGs like Diablo or Path of exile. This is the kind of crafting that i love because i play this games mostly for the crafting experience. I just love the fantasy of playing a Merchant/crafter chatacter in these games! Some people want the perfect builds, i want to make the perfect items!!
      In Crowfall it’s great because even a near perfect item, will never last forever! Unless you just keep it in the bank forever i guess hehe

    what do you recommend on launch as a solo player? do main story first or get gathering levels up?

    • @Adric68
      @Adric68 Před 3 lety +1

      Main story will gain you just little bits of XP but lots of Azoth.. Once you are near cap with Azoth Stop doing main quests and side quests till you use up some of your Azoth (If you do quests while capped you will just lose the Azoth) Also Main Quest is limited / gated to your current level - You will get to a point you can not effectively continue with the Main quest. That is where side quests come in. Side Quests also earn your Azoth so you will still want to pay attention to that as well. Side quest also help boost your Regional standings - This gets you the Bonus options (Like larger storage / less housing and crafting taxes / XP boost / Increase Gathering speed in zone - and others) So side quests are good to do too. Then there are Faction quests.. You want to do those to get Faction points - Faction points can be used to buy great gear and the runes to make bags.
      NOW as to a simple answer to your Which 1st questing or gathering.. BOTH.. As you are on your way TO the quest location gather whatever is in your path (except trees lol trees are everywhere). Iron / Silver / Elemental / Hemp / Herbs - skin all your kills
      Do NOT forget to loot every single chest as these will give you the extra things you need in crafting and cooking.
      Do not overlook your campfire - It too is a crafting station and will let you make things like rations / health / mana potions from all the extra stuff you get. So as soon as you can lvl up your camp fire to lvl 2 do that quest. Same with lvl 3 camp fire etc..
      So in essence do it all at the same time. Once you have some resources built up go on to refining them. BUT be aware some of the Town Board missions need you to craft certain things and they required unrefined ore so pay attention to that before you smelt all your ore (lol I had this issue) Same with fibers / fish ect.. check the boards before you go off refining stuff.. Town Board crafting / gathering quests are also a good way to earn XP.
      That is one of the things I like about this game.. You can just do all the things and progress each a little slowly but consistently or you can concentrate on one goal (leveling / gathering & crafting / gathering & cooking) and make large strides in each.
      My plan is to level up to 15 and then do a little gather leveling beyond what I did while leveling and do a crap ton of fishing in salt water for pearls to help level my Jewelcrafting and also level my fishing. Then getting to lvl 30 do my 1st dungeon and go back to finish leveling any professions that need some boosting to get them to tier 3. By then we will see what Towns have upgraded the crafting station and I can plan out where the best place is to concentrate on things - Then go do all the side quests and town board quests to level up standing in those regions. BTW Fish use up less weight than salvaging them into filets, so do not salvage them as you go unless you are near town. Unwanted gear try to salvage as soon as possible as gear takes up more weight than salvaged.
      There are boost foods / boost potions to give you perks in gathering so those will be a priority when I am concentrating on gathering.
      I mean if you are gona lvl up Tree cutting / mining / gathering /skinning you want as much luck as you can to get those rare and epic dops

    • @Frosty-oj6hw
      @Frosty-oj6hw Před 3 lety

      What Tier are the steel ones, is that Tier 2? Basically the way rarity works is that it is capped by the Tier of the item. So a Tier 1 item can only be common. Tier 2 can be common or uncommon (green), Tier 3 can be common, uncommon or rare (blue), and so on. If it's a tier 2 weapon it'll never ever craft to be above uncommon. If it's a Tier 3 weapon it'll only rarely craft as a rare and that's based on your skill level, as you get higher skill levels the odds of you crafting a max rarity item for any given tier increases. I think i was about jewelcrafting 125 crafting Tier 3 rings and only about 1 in every 8 was rare.

      They are extremely rare, but I think your level in gathering also matters. I finally started to get Fae iron with +1400 luck food when I was around 150 in mining. Even then it's like...25 pieces for about 5000 mined.

    • @Frosty-oj6hw
      @Frosty-oj6hw Před 3 lety +1

      @@shoblizz21 I agree, however I also don't have the full experience of getting to late game. The thing I noticed is that all later resources are based off a combination of the the early basic ones. For example to get steel you need to smelt iron together. And then to get the next level (Starmetal) you need the raw Starmetal ore but you also need to smelt it with steel ingots (which require Iron). So no matter what level you get to in crafting you always need the early tier resources. When you go back and mine those early tier resources with much higher level skill than you need, like say 150+ mining skill for iron, the rare drops start to happen more frequently.
      My main beef is that the special weapons and items Fae Iron can be used to craft are too low level, once you've got to 150+ mining skill your main character level is like 30+, but the first Fae items you can craft, like named swords for example, they're in lower Tiers. So the incentives if anything are a bit messed up. But presumably you'd be at least able to sell those special named weapons on the traders to lower levels who can use them.

      @@Frosty-oj6hw Makes sense. Biggest complaint I have with the game is crafting at lower tiers is non existent. No point in crafting when you can clearly just go buy faction gear for a long time to last. Either lower the faction gear score or make crafting viable at all stages of the game

However that gear is more PvP focused, it comes with +attributes to your primary stat, for example my leather medium armour came with +dexterity, but it also comes with +constitution for survivability in PvP. Where as if you want to storm through PvE content you'll likely want to make or buy gear which is focused on just your primary stat, which for me is dex. You can get like +14 dex gear at Tier2 rather than the PvP stuff which is split about half and half between Dex and Cons. PvE damage with min/max gear is huuuuuuge, I'm headshotting many enemies my own level with a Musket in like 3 shots before they even reach me, if I make a glass cannon build.

    For an "Ultimate Crafting Guide" you glossed over a fair amount of pertinent information. Not to say I didn't learn something, but you're selling your viewers short.
    You didn't touch on the versatility of Tier items for certain professions. Specifically Arcana and Cooking. Both of which you will use on a daily basis, regardless of what aspects of the game you indulge in.
    It's worth knowing you can view most Arcana herbs within the same tier as the same herb. Cause there's a LOT of different plants, but they're largely interchangeable.
    Same for cooking- with the largest asterisk imaginable. Dedicate one town for your cooking, cause you'll be using a lot of weight for different food types.
    Finally, it's worth splurging hard on getting the traits you want for your gathering tools- burn your Azoth. Azoth is cheap; Gathering Yield is invaluable.

      Yeah this is a good point. They moved to a class based system for mats, where in most recipies a certain class of item is needed like say a "herb" and many items might be considered herbs and so are functionally interchangeable. It's always good to check the drop down for alternative to use as you'll want to use any you have an excess of first to keep balance.

    For me a good RPG rises and falls with its crafting system. And as far as i can see in New World it seems uninspired. In general it is just look like running around for resources, watch your avatar hack away on it, running back to town, click a few buttons, done ... if you have the right skills unlocked it might even be a good outcome.
    What would be better?
    Make it into a minigame, with you being involved in the actual process, engaging with it and thus the game world. The number representing your skill can make the game a little easier, help you hitting the right rythm/spot, or might make the process a little faster, or allow you to process a larger batch of resources at once. But your performance in the minigame will determine your efficiency with the resources (how much coal you need for smelting/smithing, or waste you produce etc.) and the quality of the product. If you design the minigame right, these outcomes could be based on diffrent metrics and you could get a high quality items (hitting the right spots smithing), while having wasted a lot of resources (taking your time aiming for the right spots), or get good outcomes for both if you are competent.
    I guess it is a pass for me.
