Whether you're a brand new art teacher or transitioning to a new school, these tips will help you manage the mess and thrive in your new role. Start by writing down your questions to keep track of any uncertainties, and be sure to visit your new classroom to better plan your setup. It's important to make a budget for yourself, allocate your resources wisely, and plan your lessons to ensure you're ready from day one. Find your team by connecting with other teachers and staff at the school to build a support network, and be open to listening and engaging with colleagues. Think through your routines and procedures to establish clear classroom management strategies, and always maintain professionalism by not talking badly about the person you replaced. Set up your art room thoughtfully, arranging it in a way that supports your teaching style and meets your students' needs. Above all, stay positive and flexible, adapting to new situations with a good attitude.

Your room is beautiful and I can’t believe you have four sinks!
I’ve was in a modular for three years with no sink. This past year on a cart (k-5) and my fourth and fifth are upstairs. Again, no sinks and taking supplies to my back to back classes.
My school is in the process of building a specials wing in hopes of getting in Jan 2025!
Looking at the plans I’m getting a sink!!
