Simply the best! While I have have no intention of buying a Tranz drivetrain I enjoyed watching this as it was better than SRAM's official install video.... Quick question, when the little tab 'broke off' on the shifter pod button(s) what exactly happened there? Did it break trying to get the OE buttons off and if yes, are they trash now or is that supposed to happen?
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, if you don't just lift the button straight up without tilting the tabs will break. Plastic is poor or too tiny or I didn't know what I was doing...
@@LoveMTB Gotcha. I also love that you went with the 'older' Eagle DUB cranks with Garbaruk 3mm chainring and 52mm chainline to save some money and also prove that it can be done. That should help take a bit of the sting out of the price tag for people that are currently running an Eagle drivetrain. 👍👍
@@ThunderStruckMTB Yeah true upgrade style. And it works! 😊
Oval ring, waxed chain, electronic shifter, this gentleman does not miss the past.
TBH I've used waxed chains and oval rings in the early '90s. ;-)
Been seriously enjoying biopace on one of my bikes, and I have known about waxing chains since the 80's.
Hi, you gave the best tutorial video on T-type shifters. I'm a new comer to the channel and staying tuned always. Thanks, best regards from Venezuela
Thanks and welcome aboard!
I'm changing over to T type and this video is absolutely the best tutorial out there! Thank you LoveMTB. Subbed for sure. Cheers.
Welcome aboard!
Love the video, better setup guide than actual SRAM.
Though even as a super confident mechanic it just underlines how much functionally better my Shimano XT mechanical is
Lighter, 1/10 of the cost, easier to repair/source parts, better shifter ergonomics and functionally no performance loss.
No one won a MTB race because their drivetrain was electronic.
That extra $1500 is better spent on a skills clinic or a riding holiday or brakes, suspension, fresh tyres
Thanks 🙏 glad to share my learning with you all! Funny you say that, my son moved from XTR to T-Type and first thing he said was - not as smooth as Shimano but works ok. Enthusiastic to have AXS? Not even one bit…
One thing I like about, peddle backwards and the chain does not fall off lol , I can’t use this because my middlechild is not UDH . It is interesting . Your vids very informative now I understand this sram stuff . 👍🏼
Your videos are the most informative! Especially about every single component)
Great video! I have been looking for the answer about replacing my AXS XO1 on my tracer with a t-type and keeping my 5Dev cranks and oval with it. Glad I can do that!
Professor , great video as always. Keep safe . Cheers
Very well constructed tutorial. I’m sure this will be the go-to for DIY upgrades!
I hope so! 🙏
Great tuto, great chanel. Thanks !
Super interesting and informative! Thanks so much!
Glad to help
These videos are very nice, thanks! I am quite surprised there aren't bunch of angry comments on having to create a account to "ride your new transmission"
Maybe not yet😊 just need to create account for the app, website link doesn’t require anything
I will need to rewatch this video, ahehe! I'm amazed at this new stuff, I do hope it's not really that complicated during operation.
Lots of love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from my end--the Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
Thanks brother! Nothing too complicated just precise steps and order of installation needed 😉
Great vid as usual! My bike doesn’t have UDH, so it looks like I’m stuck with my good ole Shimano XT 11 speed for now. I’m not complaining!
Good choice!😉
Perfecto, thank U!
You're welcome!
Perfect manual. Perfect video. I don't need it yet, because my Spark is 2019 and not UDH-compactable, but it was please to see such a nice video. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for that ;)
You bet!
Simple explained
Absolutely Incredible information. Just saved my bacon .
Glad it was helpful!
Great information, even though I don't have this set up, I still enjoy watching your videos and the level of detail you put in every one. SRAM or Shimano should have you on their staff as a product specialist. First.
Maybe one day😊 Thanks!
Same I really enjoy the reviews even when it's brands or products I'll probably never end up buying. At least I got a sneak peek 😊
I will happily stay with my 10 speed cheapass drivetrains for the next couple of years... or decades, thank you.
Excellent install video. Interesting how the 52mm chainline setup works with the Transmission cassette which supposedly is 2.5mm more outboard.
55 mm chainline allows manufacturers to build better BB area and give wider tire option. 2.5 mm is pretty much one gear over if anything 52mm prioritizes the easier gears a bit
I upgraded my 2022 Spark from X01 AXS to the new X0 T-Type. I used the EMTB kit, as I already had the XX1 8-bolt cranks and Quarc power meter with 104BCD. Unfortunately the chain ring required a little dremeling to fit onto the power meter, but I was able to make it fit.
I was interested to discover that the additional (convex) buttons were not provided in the kit; I'm guessing they have removed them due to the easy breakage. It definitely is the Pod Ultimate rather than the regular pod though. I prefer the new shifter to the Eagle AXS, which I found to be too light touch, resulting in accidental double shifts when riding over bumpy terrain.
I find the chain slap is much reduced compared to the regular AXS, and also much appreciate the more even spacing on gear 2 and 3; the jump on the older cassettes between the 52 and 42 was too much.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah I have the Ultimate POD with the XX
Is there a reason why we have to do the same step when replacing the wheel? Just want to understand the reasoning behind it. Thanks for you informative videos.
No worries
It’s so the derailleur is set in place it’s going to be given that there is no adjustment for that B-gap. So I would do what they recommend when replacing the wheel😊
Good!
Thank you very much. Very helpful especially the last chapter. If u have the time, i would like to see if the Transmission derailleur can shift the old eagle chain and very important the old eagle cassette.
Simple: no😊
Since I tried GX AXS last year I doubled down on mechanical drivetrains, T-type prices and flat top chains confirmed to myself that I was following the right path, I used to be a SRAM drivetrain person but now TRP is what I expect from a modern no fuss mountain bike drivetrain.
What do you like about TRP? I have just seen it, never used it...
@@LoveMTB he probably got it for free because the TRP group is complete trash. 🤣
We are waiting for the ride review. Especially the quietness of it. I’ve just sold my old XO1 AXS because of how noisy it was
Will do.
Where was noise coming from? Just chain slap?
This is the video I've been looking for! Got a used derailleur, chain, and for cheap and I'm just running the stock non-type or axs crankset and it's working great! Although do you think I should get wide dub crankset? I'm still running stock
If ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Odd, my rear XX derailleur says tighten to 25 newtons.
Nice to see that you are running with an oval and 52mm chainline. That is what I am going for when I get around to buying an upgrade kit. Pleas let me know how the shifting performs with your setup. I.e if you've had any problems while actually riding the bike.
Will do! That bike will be racing next weekend
Nice video, (I could have used this last year for a GX T-type install 😂) Cool though. 👍🏾
Sorry for the delay😊
Still liking it?
Yes so far, had some clean-up to do with the chain which had some tacky grease and I had to re-torque my cassette and derailleur but after a few rides it went well. 😎
@@ralva2779 happy trails 😎
Hi ! Nice video !! Quick question. I'am trying to mount the xx sl groupset with wide crankset and 38T 3mm offset chainring on my specialized epic 2022 (not EVO). I think the bike has 52 chainline, do you know which spacers I have to use for the right and left side ?? 🤔
Just check my DUB video linked in the description
Awesome video! Just found your channel. I just swapped my AXS XO T Type drivetrain off of my 2024 Santa Cruz Large Nomad and put it on a new 2023 Santa Cruz Medium 5010 build. I had my LBS do the swap for me but now I am dropping my chain in gears 10 & 11 when back pedaling which has never happened before. I know there's about 10mm difference in chain stay length between the two bikes but I haven't experienced this before and have had several hi end mtbs. I also know many say this is common, but again I have never experienced it on my other Santa Cruz bikes. I am hoping to get your thoughts? Thanks!
Assume you have the correct chain length on the 5010? It’s pretty critical to ttype working properly
@@LoveMTB Yes, used the SRAM chain calculator. 2023 5010 Medium 32T low rear linkage. 116 links.
👌👍
Hello, is it normal for the Derailleur to have lateral wobble (left right) when I undo one full rotation from snug? In every video it seems like it just becomes loose and pivots around the axle, however mine wobbles side to side too
Damn I would love to install this on my bike. Challenge is, my Carbon frame will not accept UDH. Does anyone know of a Fab shop who could modify my rear Triangle to accept UDH?
Interesting about the chainline ... you said it works fine with a 52 mm chainline? I am considering a bike with Transmission but want to swap the default Sram crankset for a 152 mm one . I thought I had to play with the chainring offset to get a 55 mm chainline, you're saying there's is no need to do that?
Yes pretty much what we have in this video
Hey, just a quick question, when pulling down on derailleur to torque up, do you gently pull back or does it have to be firm.
I find it wants to pop out of the A/B setup mode.
Cheers
Gently pull back as you tighten as in the video
Have you ridden the transmission outside on trails yet? How does it shift?
Great but not as smooth as Shimano 12a
xx chain, In the box says made in portugal but for some reason the price here is higher than in the rest of the planet!
That’s crazy!
After having spent some time on this, which controller you prefer more, old or new?
I personally prefer the old BUT you would get used to either especially since SRAM is launching a rocker version for this also. Few months away though…
i have an issue, i do all the same steps, but at the end when i tight up to 10 Nm the thru axle it just blocks my drivetrian complitely, as a result i cant even move the cranks....if i lose the thru axle the transmission works properly, but it is not right, cuz the wheel itself is drilling. I dunno what to do
If the cassette is not properly tightened on the XD driver that is what you will see
Is the opposite possible? 55mm new crank on the old eagle cassette en derailleur?
Yes will work just fine😊
I did this in under one hour for a lady rider I sponsor . A lot easier to fit than I thought .
Hello I have shimano 11speed cassette 11-42t And crankshaft 2x11 26-36t will it be good idea to upgrade to sram 1230 NX 12x1 11-50t and crankshaft 32t . I am looking for top end speed or are they same? thanks.
Is it worth upgrading or will I have same results looking for more speed top end ...... Thanks
I am riding Scott aspect 920 2022
Every cyclist must have a torque wrench
Yeah…not going to happen
@@LoveMTBThe Bikehand ones are good , in a box and not bulky .
kosmos.....
Funny!
Fools and their money 😂😂😂
shimano better :)
T type useless. Completely silly. Nice job with the video though.
Thanks
I still Hate electronic and Sram
Professor , great video as always. Keep safe . Cheers
Thanks, you too!🤘
