- In this episode of Sailing around Britain I leave Dunstaffnage marina and transit through the Caledonian Canal built by Thomas Telford from Corpach to Inverness.
A hike up Ben Nevis, a visit to Urqhart Castle and keeping a watch for the Loch Ness monster.

That magnificent scenery came flooding back reminding me of a similar trip through the Caledonian. That was in 1997 when good old Blakes Hire of Norfolk had a small fleet of yachts at Laggan. With my wife and 3 young kids we had a Moody 28 named 'Arrow' for a week in May. We were pretty lucky with the weather, but often had all four seasons in one day! Great video Sam, looking forward to the next already.
Thanks for watching, there were quite a lot of canoes and power boats on the canal, i didnt see any sailing boats for hire. Would be my choice.

Truly beautiful! In 1992 I climbed Ben Nevis and was later told it means head in cloud... All the locks...but the scenery is worth it. Fair winds to you!

You've had to use your outboard quite a lot. Any idea how many litres per hour you are using on average?
When the engies runing not alot, i don 't run the engine any more than 25% throttle, between inverness and whitby I used approx 12 litres
