Kentucky State reminds me of old Valley… They used to be this powerful.
i been trying to tell people , don't sleep on KSU. they the new kids on the block.. They get more numbers they gonna be very dangerous.
I said at the NBOTB KSU was COMPLETELY UNDERRATED!!! That band is IMPECCABLE!!! Sound!! Clarity!! Power!! Color!!! An overall excellent presentation!!
This is one of the best battles I've seen in awhile. Well matched bands, played with good musicality, and great sound selection.
My daddy went to Kentucky State University and I graduated from Alabama State University. He always talked about how much fun he had in college and had a few stories lol. Definitely was a big influence on deciding to go to college. O, and I'm a Marching Hornet 🎺🐝

Been watching Kentucky state's band the past few years. I respect the climb. They are entering the higher levels of bands.
I wouldn’t say that bc only two bands at that level. Sonic Boom and Jukebox. Everybody else are three to 5 levels below them.

I'm glad Lea finally played with formations and debuted some new counts. The girls were together and clean. The krettes we're pretty good too just need to pay a Lil more attention other than that they were really good.

K state sounds nice and the stands was cute. I love love love the Honey Beez. Their count selection was tea and true went with the music. They moved as a group. ASU sounded amazing! I was hype in my living room.

k state tubas was EATING them Cs on tear da club up 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ the two tubas in the front from bama couldn’t believe what they heard lol 😂 all in all bama had the better balance, fullness and played more musical selections I give them the dub but not by much (k-state was on one this day lol)

This was a great battle. Both bands did an amazing job and I must pay every bit of respect to Director Oliver for his impact at Central State on the KSU band director. Oliver has influenced many and they paid homage to him this weekend. Bama State keep those honeybees up front!

The KRettes are like if the GGs and J-Settes had a secret love child. I see some counts that look a little familiar and remind me of both squads. They did really good though. Always entertaining to watch whenever I do see them

We have a history with both universities. Dr. Liddell and Dowell Taylor were both Director of Bands at Kentucky State way back in the day. The K-rettes have a history of The White Boots 👢 Former Kentucky State Alum Mr. Timothy Chambers was a graduate student at Jackson State and was a assistant director at Alcorn State for many years before becoming head band director at Kentucky State. He then went on to be head director at Fayetteville State, Delaware State assistant director and head director at Lincoln in Pennsylvania. He unfortunately passed last year. In all our history is rich with many schools especially Jackson and Alcorn due to those three directors. Dr. Liddell has videos of his days at Kentucky State in the 80’s check out the footage when you can.

The people were going crazy in that high school gym. This is the Midwest this type of HBCU experience isn’t like every weekend in the south during marching season. Hopefully with the addition of Wilberforce the HBCU experience will be more of a common thing up North and Midwest. It’s a win for the culture. Poor Showtime had to deal with all the crowd reaction.

KSU is the adult version of hunters lanes and I mean that in a VERY GOOD WAY. Side note isn't that hunters lane band director in the front. But very very nice battle.. I KSU with the dub over ASU. Song selection played a big part

Stings didn't Sting me 😔 Honestly the banner girls ,krettes and honey did more for me. Bandbwise I already knew what it was going to be. Enjoyed both bands as I knew I would

@Tee Johnson It’s not the crabs, it’s the captain. The crabs are actually starting to look good and clean. Asia had a team full of crabs in 14 and Janae did in 19, but both ran the SWAC dance lines their years. I like Lea, but it’s giving tired…especially with all these same counts she does every time we see them. I’m glad she actually did other formations tho, cause all that row by row wasn’t giving.

Lol I mean because social media is around now, we get to see practically every performance, so it's kind of like asking them to give us something new everytime they perform and a camera rolls. The same can be applied to the Dancing Dolls, J-Settes or Stingettes, they mostly put on the wow factor at major rivalry games like at Boombox Classic, MCC, Turkey Day, Bayou Classic. I think we will see more fire later in those major games and even home games. Plus ASU was long out of the SIAC by the time KSU joined so they never got to play each other in football, so there is no rivalry history there for ASU to feel like (oh we need to pull out all the stops!) They have to leave some surprises for MCC and the other SWAC games. 🤷🏾♂️ Idk just my thoughts lol

ASU is probably twice KSU size . Ksu is more aggressive than ASU their players all the way down to their arrangements. ASU isn’t bad but really got exposed their not a top 4 swac this year… ksu wouldn’t have ate down on southern ,jackson ,alcorn , or txsu like this. The only woah factor about asu is their honeybees and stingettes
Let’s not confuse being in a gym with hearing a band outside.
Asu doesn’t have to focus on being aggressive because the are larger has you stated.
KSU doesn’t sound better, the sound like a collegiate band that sounds good with their instrumentation.
Watch how Asu compete against the bands you think are above them and then we’ll revisit your comment.
