i love your vids so much, been binging since i found you recently and i feel like you and wendigoon are the only people rn that deserve sll of your subs and more (if you guys collabed, id die)
Thanks Justin! Great compliment. Wendigoon does a great job.
There's a bunch of practicing magicians disguised it as a religion.
I lije wendigoon and all but why do ppl praise him soon much, he just uses easily found info in the iceberg style videos, which are just like everyone elses iceberg style videos, none of em go into hardly any detail on the topics, or am I just mussing the reason everyone kisses the dudes feet??
Yes! I'd like to see these guys and Mr. Ballen do something together!
would be an amazing Collab!!!!
The "Get to heaven on a technicality" is a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off.
Imagine a people who have so much hubris, they feel that they can outsmart their god with semantics…
Don't we all
Like, buying off your sins with a donation at Sunday church, or reciting a couple of Hail Marys?!
Any thoughts on the religiously peaceful Muslims (the #1 protected demographic), btw? Nah, bc that might get a little hairy, they're a pretty 'sensitive' bunch who don't condone being mocked in any way, shape, or form...
Are you being Anti Semantic right now? Oy Vey

Shomer shabbos!
I’m a landscaper and was hired To burry a wire around a customers house years ago for religion reasons. I remember there being so many rules like distance from the structure/house and how deep etc.
Woe!
Imagine wasting your hard earned cash on this bunk.
@@jadedpigeon5585 It's better than some other stuff, like $1000s a year on video games
And people say their isn't any Magic in the Bible thats Magix
How do they know you actually bury it.
This to me proves that no matter how "divine" humans say something is, they will almost certainly always find the loopholes to justify their desires/actions anyways
Not a loophole, you mean rebellion against Almighty God. Furthermore, all of those so-called Jewish Sabbath restrictions are man made, not scriptural. This is why it's imperative that one reads the Holy Bible, and becomes familiar with the Word of God that you're not deceived. For example..Jesus Christ on one account gives correction regarding the Sabbath:
[Luke 14:1-6]
"One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?"
@BoZaK Dude, I need the contact for your dealer because that stuff is craaaaaazy
@@Andomosity Not crazy, I'm disseminating truth my friend. I don't do drugs, no need for personal attacks. Be respectful.
All life is divine. None of this mumbo-jumbo is needed.
I don't know why you are generalizing all human beings when this video is clearly talking about one religious group in particular.
So, I'm a little confused. Did God say that you could expand your "home" with a giant wire to include a huge city the size of Manhattan to get around the "no walking around rule"? Isn't that cheating?
Their God is easily fooled. That's why they chose him.
Good thing God doesn't exist or else we would be in a lot of trouble.
if you read the Talmud it's basically them trying to Jew god and thinking they're smart for finding loopholes around his commands.
Isreal is called Isreal because Jacob wrestled with God.
@@newsnco Who won?
I knew about a lot of the rules regarding the Sabbath but I didn’t know about this one. I guess you have to adjust things to make sense for the time and conditions you’re living in. For instance, a lot of buildings in New York, including hospitals on Long Island, have Sabbath elevators. I was in one of the hospitals recently and asked a worker if it stops on every floor on the Sabbath so they don’t have to push the buttons. I got a huge smile and he said “yes, that’s exactly right”.
You gotta do what you gotta do to make it work.
This reminds me of that jumping on the bed rule for Amish kids. You’re not sleeping with her if your friend is jumping on the bed to keep you from using your hips.
This is written seemingly in English yet I have no idea what any of that means
@@dannydbrown90 It’s a joke about Amish people trying to take a detour around sinning by having premarital sex. The guy lays on the bed & the girl “falls” on top of him, then they have a friend who jump up & down on the bed so that they aren’t technically doing the deed.
@@replexity ohh lmao, ok got you 😂😂
It's called "soaking" and totally goes against the natural drive to thrust during sex
Oh yeah the Mormons do it too, not just the Amish
Hecklefish converted pretty quickly when he found out Saturday is sex day
I noticed that!
probably the funniest hecklefish bit on the show yet! Shomer MOTHERF****IN Shabbos!!!!
AJ & Hecklefish remind me of a funny, cliched version of my family.
Had no clue!! Interesting!! My husband works with a CFO that strictly follows this and when they sold a company plane my husband was in charge of handling… I heard him talking to CFO on a Saturday due to urgent deal needs, and all the sudden his wife busts in (later we found out he was in the bathroom) and yells he can’t be working!! ;) that was my introduction to the practice!
Did you know of the Shabbat elevator? People can't press buttons on a Shabbat, because using electricity counts as "making a fire" which is forbidden. Still, some people need the elevator because of mobility issues. So what they do is, they program an elevator to automatically go up and down all day, and stop at every floor. Needless to say, it is a slow process, but if you are a believer in a wheelchair, I'm sure you'd appreciate that invention. 🙂
I love how there is no topic too large or small for you to talk about, thanks AJ!
So basically they just changed the rules to suit them better. Sounds like a huge waist of money.
I worked in Manhattan for the past 30 years and about 20 years ago I was walking down the street and I noticed the wire as the sun was hitting it just right and made it visible down the entire block. Being a technology person, my first thought was that it was some kind of communication antenna. When I got to work I mentioned it to my boss who was Jewish and he told me the real story. Thanks for posting this. I’m sure people who actually noticed the wire were puzzled too.

Hecklefish turning into Walter Sobchak is hilarious perfection😅
So hilarious. I laughed hard.
Hard enough to where you were entering a world of pain
Wow never heard of this thanks for sharing!
This was a flashback to Friday nights in Boro Park ,Brooklyn when my neighbors would ask me to come in to turn on their lights as a kid❤
It is amazing how the religious people around the world will twist or construe words and their meanings in order to make it easier to justify breaking said laws.
exactly dude, its one of the reasons im atheist
Hecklefish gets funnier everytime…gotta love him. Never too much or too little humor Good Job Goldy!
I love the little fish too!
I like it when AJ and hecklefish spontaneously argue
Hackle fish deserves an Oscar
I was thinking he would start an antisemitism rant.
Not really, it’s pretty annoying actually
I cannot comprehend that someone gave the authorization to build something like that in a city. Who is paying for that? 🤦♀️
The reason for "eruv" is ancient. 2000 years ago the jewish communities would put this wire in about waist high around their houses so everyone in the community will stay together for Shabbat.
Today it's meaningless, and is only kept because it's an ancient tradition, written as a law in the bible.
When my husband was a kid, his Jewish neighbor would come over and ask either him or his brother to go over to his house and turn on the radio for him so he could listen to his sports games. He figured as long as he didn't touch the radio, he couldn't be faulted for listening since it was on anyway. This is in a town in New Jersey that now has a very high concentration of othodox jews, there might be a wire there, too.
LMAO - I just looked it up. There is. It doesn't extend to the road my husband lived on but comes close and seems to cover a good portion of the town. Now I have to go see if there's any near me because apparently, there's a site for that.
That's pretty common, it's called a shabbos goy, it's a gentile that helps out an orthodox jew on sabbat. Some will even pay for such a service. They also use all sorts of electronics to program switches on sabbat.
Your husband was a DNJ, or Designated Non Jew
The same thing exists in London UK , in Golders Green, Finchley, Mill Hill and Hendon , a 6 and half mile wire for the same reason.
Fascinating. I've saved and shared quite a few. This is definitely on that list. This is one of the ones that'll land me researching in the public library. Thank you!
"If I were a rich fish" 😂
Doobie doobie doobie doo....
Ugh, that was glorious
Omigosh, this was fabulous. “Fiddler on the Roof” is my favorite musical and I had to listen to Hecklefish sing that a few times!
Wealthy not rich..
I love the stuff hecklefish says
Sounds to me like a thousand years ago a bunch of Jewish rabbis got together made a bunch of Jewish laws that they didn't fully think through then later on decided to make loopholes in their own laws which were stupid laws to begin with!
Exactly right.
The thing is, thousands of years ago when the laws were wrote, life was much simpler, and the religeos laws now don't fit in with modern society. People didn't have electricity or public transport, or telephones etc.. they probably didn't even have a key on their front door in them times. On the sabat, which is the day of rest, they wouldn't have had the need to go out and do things anyway, and would probably just stay at home and rest. On a normal day, they would only go out to work, buy food and necessities then go home anyway, it's not like they would go and have a game of golf on their day off. The times were obviously much more simple, and the Rabi's didn't realise how much society would change over the next millenia.
The sabbath started when they left Egypt, in the desert with Moses, they literally didn’t left their “house for nothing
@@gutz323 sounds like rabbis weren't very insightful to perceive life would stay the same for thousands of years

What I can't wrap my brain around is, how did we get from "Remember the sabbath to keep it holy", to 'don't work on the sabbath'? Seems to me a lot of this could be avoided.
That's pretty cool and great to know. I love learning about people traditions and being able to answer random questions from my kids when they ask or I can tell them random facts.

@@TheWhyFiles He was Walter From The Big Lebowski for a moment there...lol
What's the point of having a tradition if you look for any way to break the rules... Ridiculous
Great video! Thanks for sharing all of the interesting information that you do.
Hecklefish quoting Walter almost made me do a spit-take. That was really good.
Always a loop hole somewhere. Seems like it would have been easier to change a rule or two,and cheaper. Putting a wire around a city to signify that your within 4 walls doesn't change the fact that your not. Crazy way of thinking on my end of things. Love your videos. 👍
Thats the nature of religion. If you think that everything stated in religion is to be taken exactly as said then you will find that its impossible to abide by all the rules. This is why religious people are the biggest hypocrites. They constantly bend the rules and play semantics to make these laws fit into their life instead of understanding what these laws where really pointing to. Words are sloppy and can never hold True but are just pointers to help lead to Truth which can only be experienced not spoken.
It's weird.

He grows on you like a wart, Big Mig.
So, do these people think they’re pulling a fast one on their god? As if he’s blind to what they’re doing, circumventing the so-called “laws” they have to follow? It’s really kind of arrogant when you think about it, thinking you can outsmart your own god.🤣
You should read the OT. Full of stories of humans trying to pull a fast one.

Doesn't count. Still cheating.
If you're just trying to put a border to make it a home, couldn't you just use the island's border and call it a day and just use that as your excuse?
There's literally a fine line between spirituality and stupidity.
No there isn’t. It’s perfectly see through.
Clever😃
This is accurate.
Some of the rules they get around by automated timed lighting. So they don't actually turn on a switch. A crock pot is turned on before Fri sundown & not turned off until after Shabbat is over sundown Sat. Those a just a couple of examples.
I’ve never seen a people make so many rules to circumvent the rules they think God made for them.
I have cousins in Brooklyn and other areas of NY that are Hassidic so have learned about the Eruv from them. Thank you for covering this and letting others know about the story. And the curly locks on Hecklefish are called "payot" - "The sideburns are based on an interpretation of the Tanakh's prohibition against shaving the sides of the head, and the word pe'a literally means 'corner, side, edge'. Jewish men are also forbidden from shaving or removing the hair on their temples in front of their ears, which is the upper part of their sideburns. The sideburns are considered a mitzvah called chukim, which are decrees, but the exact reason for this mitzvah is unknown."

How did I not know about this channel?.. that goldfish character is hilarious 🤣🤣 ahhahaha subscribed !!!
Working at a Manhattan gym on the sabbath, one of the guys would always refuse to press the electronic door buzzer system to get inside, he would then turn on an electric treadmill and get his 30 minutes of cardio in... it was a private gym for the building, now I wonder if the hallways were not considered his home but the common area inside the gym was? Another great informative episode!
I have a couple of friends that observe and they also have different rules. They pretty much go with "we do the best we can". I think that's OK. God would understand.
I don't know if you mean that as a joke or you mightve misunderstood the part when he said within the confinds of your home part, as that part only applies for the carrying objects, but all other rules (38 others) all still apply wherever you are, so at home you wouldn't be able to say turn on your cooker or use electronics etc... What my theory is, that gym friend of yours is conscious of someone from the community seeing him press the button so outside he tries to come across as If he keeps the Shabbat, but once in the gym, then his rabbi or other Jews will be less likely to see him do whatever...
If the machine/treadmill was already on and plugged in then it would most likely be already considered as something that was already running/functioning and not a buzzer that would create a spark and connection each time you pressed it.
@@TheWhyFiles it's all in the interpretation - there are some who believe that listening is work - so a guy i knew and his mates would intentionally walk up to jews on the Sabbath and talk to them- just to enjoy the sight of them running for cover with their ears blocked - ahh the rules that Yahweh comes up with

Welcome, Adam!
I knew what this was about just from the title, because I lived for many years in Los Angeles and everybody knew about the eruv around the Fairfax area of LA and adjoining residential areas.
In Antwerp in Belgium, the Jewish community have a painted line on the ground. The City of Antwerp have decided that adding wires in the urban landscape was too messy. They agreed on a painted black, white or grey line. Now, they have an app on Google that tells them where to go or not to go.
Be safe. Be kind. And know that you are appreciated! Keep up the good work you two 🤙

You guys always put up interesting videos…👏🏼
Fascinating! I did not know this.
There are all kinds of stories about how some people call a family member before the Sabbath and then leave the line open through the Sabbath so they can talk to each other over the phone during the sabbath, but then without a speaker phone, they needed someone to be nearby to hear the person on the other end. Or they would set the oven on, and leave it on all sabbath. Or buildings in Manhattan that only hired an elevator operator during the Sabbath to push the buttons.
I learned about the wire in New York city because my sister's building complex on the upper West side is a block or two from one of the edges of the wire and I noticed it one time while walking her dog about fifteen years ago, and looked it up.

I am familiar with this even though I do not follow their religion however I have worked in Manhattan for approximately 35 years of my life I had no idea that they had one running around the island of Manhattan to me that's shocking
on the other hand nothing surprises me when it comes to religion people will find every loophole possible to make things convenient for their lifestyle hypocritical mostly all religions
You sound bitter, though you do rightly call them hypocrites. But to lump all religions and believers together because some Jewish people act this way isn’t fair or right.
You might read Matthew 23 wherein Jesus had the harshest words for the religious, and also called them hypocrites. But is Jesus Christ or a true Christian a hypocrite because some Jews are? That’s silly.
That’s like if I found a dumb atheist and used him to make the point that all atheists are dumb. Or if I found a drug addicted atheist and said, “welp, this is where atheism leads”.
