    I have not used my new low profile 2 piece race ramps 10 inch high . I love be backing up 911 Porsche for rear oil change tomorrow my question is I’ll chock all wheels especially on the ramp while jacking up the front to place the Jack stands on Porsche have to use rear Jack point after removing the part of race ramp for access . Is the height to much to perform this method? What do you think?

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  Před 2 lety +1

      I haven't attempted to jack up the front of a vehicle while the rear is on the ramps. The ramps do elevate the rear of the vehicle quite a bit so I don't know how well your jack handles being extended that far for lifting your vehicle. Lifting the front of your vehicle via a rear jacking point seems potentially a problem since it will likely elevate the rear wheel/suspension that is already on the ramp at the same time. Race Ramps sells an entire vehicle ramp setup where you drive the entire vehicle on an elevated ramp (front and rear), but they are very pricey.

    you measured the side clearance about 14 inches tall with the race ramp.I know that the clearance is different from cars to cars. My hyundai genesis 2012 model's front side clearance measurement is 5.5 inches tall. How tall is your side clear clearance without the race ramp?

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  Před 2 lety

      I no longer own the 2017 Chevy SS Sedan used in the video. I do have a 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV also produced by Holden in Australia. The SS and Caprice have the same base platform/body with similar ride height. The ground clearance for the Caprice at that same location is 8 inches.

    when u buy these ramps, do u only get one set or 2 sets for 1 price or is it for each one ?

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  Před 11 měsíci

      You get one set which is enough for one axle of the vehicle (left and right) sides. Each side contains the main unit and the approach ramp.

    I just found this video, I asked about ramps on another video, I'm thinking about Race Ramps wheel cribs , may be an option to save a little money and get it a bit higher off the ground ?

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  Před 2 lety

      The Race Ramps wheel cribs can be useful in situations where you might use a jack stand. The problem (in my opinion) with those is you have to jack up the vehicle high enough to get them under the tires. I've used the race ramps in this video for many years without a problem. I purchased the heavy duty version (2,500 lbs per ramp instead of 1,500 lbs per ramp) just in case I needed to support a vehicle with more weight. The Chevy SSR should work fine on the 1,500 lb version but I wanted the second set to handle more weight just in case I needed a heavier vehicle on the ramps.

      I use these ramps a lot to perform all types of vehicle maintenance. These particular ramps are rated for up to 1500 lbs per wheel (3000 lbs per axle). If your vehicle is heavier than 1500 lbs per wheel, Race Ramps also offers a heavy duty version RR-XT-2-HD which can hold up to 2500 lbs per wheel.

      True, you cannot use the ramps to perform any task that requires removing the wheels from the vehicle, but it is so nice to be able to put the ramps on the garage floor and get the car on the ramps in about 2 minutes. They make a lot of tasks quick and easy to do.
