  • www.lightsporta... -- MW Fly Aircraft Engine - We talk to the folks from MW Fly who produce aircraft engines for the lightsport and experimental aircraft market. Currently the produce three engines used on these classes of aircraft.
The engines come with a 1 year warranty, and TBO ranges from 1500 to 2000 hours depending on the HP. These are expected to be increased when the factory starts to receive engines back from customers.
The engines have crankshafts and connecting rods that run on roller bearings, and according the factory they are capable of running with NO oil pressure. Dry engine weights start at 185 lbs.
The engines are liquid cooled, with electronic fuel injection, and an electronic engine monitoring system. The factory is currently setting up a service network, with Canadian Service to be done by the Bushcaddy factory.

Crancksaft on roler berings... now that is real aviation grade safety.
Very long runing with loss of oil pressure, plus the promise of way above average longevity.
    Very, very good feature.

I ran a differential without oil once, it lasted about 3 minutes at light load, the bearing got so hot the rollers melted and oozed out the sides. All bearings need oil.

If it's not a Rotax, I am interested!

Shame that this is not much different from my 912S. Why do they develop something very different and build a diesel? In a few years time this will be history like many attempts to dislodge Rotax.

Looks like it takes 10 minutes of cranking to fire it up. Not a good "start" to the video!

I'd never buy a engine without a standardized external alternator. Stators have low life and low output.
