I think most people would probably disagree with me, just because they can but regardless of what the band, critics or some fans feel about angles in particular. I got to get this off my chest. Ironically, Angles is this generation's Parallel Lines but without the huge impact. It's truly a classic new wave project....I still don't understand why it's not received as a classic, maybe new wave is an acquired taste but I love how they wear their influences on their sleeves/pay homage but at the same time...don't get it fucked up. This is not just a copy and paste kinda of album or a tribute album... they still came with unique songs that push the genre of new wave forward and gave it an update the way the strokes can only do it. Macchu Piccu, Games, You're So Right, Call Me Back, Taken For A Fool and Metabolism showcase that well. Even if this album isn't your taste, objectively the songwriting is still pretty strong. The only weak thing you can say about this album is that the mixing and mastering can be messy/sloppy at times but who wants the strokes to sound all clean and pristine...not me and I hope you wouldn't want that either. This is at least a 8/10 to a 10/10 album easily it'll never not be an excellent exercise in new wave/power pop music especially in the past two decades. How is this not a great album? I don't understand all the mixed and negative reviews. Also what's a legit new wave/power pop album in the past 20 years that is better or you might deem a classic? Please leave some recommendations below....I ask this assuming that you like this type of music but don't think Angels is executed well or a great/classic project from top to bottom?

      3. Games
      4. You’re So Right
      5. Taken for a Fool
      6. Call Me Back
      7. Gratisfaction
      8. Life is Simple in the Moonlight
Tracks are moved around a little but I think it really flows. Finally realized that “Under Cover of Darkness” does more harm than good. It will always feel like the “guess who’s baaack” Strokes song. Julian is weirdly strained on it, and it just reeks of the famously tense conditions of the album’s recording sessions. Take it away (along with the well-intentioned but clunky “Metabolism”) and you have a surprisingly lighthearted, quirky and colorful new wave record. And “Taken For a Fool” is absolutely one of the band’s best songs.

I think TNA has the same mood and energy from ITI, which is already impressive, but it builds so much more on top of it, with great song structures, almost always having a triumphant finale, MULTIPLE great melodies in EACH song, perfect track order (the Ode To The Mets finish is probably the best ending track a album could have), etc... And it shows the band going in a great direction moving forward, they're actually enjoying making music again, and it really shows.
