    For those that want to repair a rumbling (driving with a flat tyre) noise. It can be one of the drum barrel rollers. There are four of them, holding up the drum. Often it is advised to swap the whole set . I only swapped the front two rollers as they are so expensive. The tough rubber on one of the front rollers had separated from the plastic and was making the noise. It is an easy job if you 1) release the spring that puts tension on the engine, so the drum can be lifted a little. 2) unscrew the bolt of the roller. Opposed to other models, this bolt is actually a thick screw going straight into the plastic. It has no counter nut. Lift the drum and remove the bolt and defective roller. In the old roller there is a plastic tube you can reuse. 3) screw the new one in. 4) use a piece of old electric cord to lift and reattach the spring to the engine, making sure the belt is still in the same spot as it was 5) vacuum the insides if you haven't already, done! I greased all bearings of the rollers with WD40 and closed up. Problem gone. One of the drum rollers I removed was still fine. I save it for later.

    Thanks for the video. I had again the Thunk, Thunk, Thunk as we had had before. Engineer came out and replaced one of the drum rollers. So when I heard it again I was about to order a wheel when it stopped turning. I remember when the engineer came last time he brought a wheel and a belt. So rather than risk it I ordered a wheel and belt. Using this video I was able to take the machine apart to find the belt had broken. All the wheels were fine. I think this thunk thunk thunk was just the belt fraying on a weak spot and eventually it broke. I had the job done in less than an hour. I bought everything through AEG/Electrolux which worked out about £1.50 more than an online Parts supplier. If you put your machine in the MY AEG page you get full parts listings too. Very helpful.

    HUGE thank you for your video. It helped me a lot understanding how the dryer is assembled. However, I was able to dismount and change the motor without wholly disassembly it. Once I unmounted the top rear panel and removed the drum I was able to rotate vertically the motor over the heat pump and moving it towards the front panel and remove it. The new motor also came into place the same way. Hope it helps

    Thank you very much for this video. It gave me the confidence to open my AEG (8000 series) and clean it because the ventilator was stuffed with so much lint.

    Thanks very much... the belt is much too loose for my machine, like it expanded 5 cm suddenly.. Is was spinning on a black wheel, that is almost worn out. Probably it needs a specialist.

    Hey, the dryer stopped drying. It's probably the thermostat, where is it located? Are there two thermostats because the washer is heating up?

    Hi Roee I have the same dryer.
    Do you know where the drain pump located?

      I also had this question. I found it on the back of the machine in the plastic box on the right side (next to the blower). Only needed a few screws to access. Did not require full disassembly.

  • @spacethefinalfrontier

    Is there really no way to get the motor out without completely disassembling the unit?

    If the dryer is not generating heat what can be the problem. How do you know if the compressor is working?

    • @HobbyHoarder
      @HobbyHoarder Před 9 měsíci

      You can hear the compressor working. If you put a hand on it, it should also vibrate. If it does, then it's working, but you still have to check if there's gas in the system. Leave it running for about 30 minutes, then check the copper pipes that are connected to the compressor; one should be hot and another one should be very cold. If it's only hot but there's nothing cold, then you don't have enough gas (or none at all) in the pipes and you can throw the machine away.

    Hi great vid. Do you know if the little fan in the bottom front right should be on from the moment the dryer starts or is it on a timer? Thanks

    • @HobbyHoarder
      @HobbyHoarder Před 9 měsíci +1

      No, it only turns on if the compressors gets too hot.

    My god, I tought about taking the motor out for replacing the carbon brushes. Because I opened my machine for replacing the rollers. But after seeing this, I guess the motor just has to wing it for a while longer.

    • @RoeeBloch
      @RoeeBloch  Před rokem

      I think it is going from tiny halls to the tank below, from there there is a pump that cycling the water back in, till finished and they are pulled out to main water pipe
