Something you might want to do. I learned on my treager to wrap the outside of grease bucket with aluminum foil then pull it off of outside and use it for liner inside. You won't have to haul a greasy bucket around.

Great video. I learned something watching a vide about a hybrid offset pellet smoker that helps. I tried it today with my vertical pellet smoker. If you take a handful or two of pellets and add them straight in the burn cup to cover the lighter probe it will start quicker and not have to prime as long.

I rarely comment on any video I watch and I really felt I needed to thank you for this video. I have been shopping for a table top smoker for the last year for myself, even though I bought my husband one a full size one for christmas last year. I wanted one for myself to use for smaller size meals or to put in camper. I ordered this exact one this morning and wasn't sure about it. you really gave the " how to use" and how big it was and it could be do-able for me who has never smoked anything in my life . thank you so much for this video. ps. I've never seen anybody on any other video's show that little button in the middle to check meat temp of the probe. never even thought of it until you pointed it out. I would have thought it was broken or user error hahaha

I was raised on TriTip ( origin of the cut Santa Maria, CA) and there is no better all around cut of beef. This time of year it comes on sale for under 3.00lb quite often 1.99 on the Central Coast and SOCal. Use it for just about every meat dish -soups stews bbq etc. Also cut it into “baseball steaks” Traditionally cooked over Red Oak so if you get some Oak pellets you’ll be able to get the full “Santa Maria Style TriTip” taste. I catered for two decades on the Central Coast and dry rub is the only way to go with TriTip. I usually season mine when I buy it or 12 hours before. The Traeger just ups that game incredibly. Look forward to seeing what’s next!

Traeger BBQ smoker was the best investment I have ever made. Paid $1,400 for mine and it's bad A**! Next time line your hot plate with aluminum foil that the grease fall on so that way you don't have to clean the grease plate. The grease bucket get a liner for your pale and save the time from having to clean it.

The ONLY thing I'd suggest is when you move to the sear faze you don't cover it.....put the meat on and don't put the lid down. You had the right plan, about 130 degrees internal then sear, but when you put the lid down it started to bake instead of sear and pushed your internal temp higher than you wanted. By leaving the lid open you stop the baking and instead just apply heat to the outside, which is what you want. Nice grill and keep learning and enjoy the results!

The Ranger and other AC models use 330 watts, Watt usage will drop to 45W-100W after reaching the desired temperature, based on fan and auger usage. You are running your generator when you could use a small inverter or battery pack. That's crazy.

Good Afternoon Crafty's. I apologize for my non watching full video yesterday ,I commented before watching whole video ,I do apologize however id like to add this comment /suggestion ,instead of searing tri tip after smoking ,try searing first to seal in flavor and juices then lower temp and smoke it thereafter that's how I do my steaks ,good luck safe travels and good eats ,if you decide to try that let me know. Thanks ,I promise it works 💪🏾💯👍🏽

Loved the video. I do a ton of smoking my family loves it. This is probably way overkill but one thing I do is keep track with a spreadsheet of the weight of the food and internal and cooking temp of each smoke. Then record the result so we can futher tweak the next time.. By doing that I have been able to dial in the cooking , to get very consistent cooking each time. I too liked the height adjustable table on the back of your truck 😁.

Great video! You explained how to use the unit really well. AND, you've inspired us to slow down during the cooking process (don't crank the temp up
so we can eat ASAP)! Thanks so much ... Be well ...

@@TheCraftyTrucker Calling me sir is like calling an outhouse a mansion LOL.... However, thanks Jason for your reply. You are welcome to call me Pete or really whatever you want,, I don't offend easy. I'm a small copy of you I think, I like the things you do too like, driving, working on my own stuff when I can, and having the right tools for the job, sleeping with the animals, etc. I think you'd love my garage, but you manage quite well to my surprise working outside and you have yet to make a bad "how to" video. I'm sure Heather enjoys you doing some cooking and the steak did look delicious. You both make a great team regardless what you are doing. I certainly gave you a thumbs up on your video, and wish you good luck with your grilling skills as practice makes perfect, but I have no remarks towards your cooking, other than I think it was a great idea to get that grill and you seem to use it well. Life can be short, so the money you spent on it is not very important as both you guys work hard and deserve treats and toys yourselves and, in this case you both benefit from it. As always, thanks for sharing and you, and Heather, & the babies stay safe is this unpredictable world right now.

Great review! FWIW, I've found that 110 internal temperature with a 2-3 minute sear works well for medium-rare tri-tip.

I am totally shocked! Of all the gadgets and doodads on your truck where is the 120-volt AC outlet at the back? Forget the extension cord, I was expecting an outlet to be on the back bumper.
