fr, music (/football) won
You're wrong on this gee, Kendrick started the diss against Drake, Messi never insulted or dissed Ronaldo, it was the other way around
@@ebukaanaso9712 on a spiritual level Kendrick is closer to Messi just like Drake is closer to CR - more superficial frequency. And Messi never shied away from challenging him on a football field, where it matters. “notice I say we, it’s not just me, I’m what the culture feelin’” just like with Messi. the culture, his colleagues, journalists consider him a Goat while CR is sidelined, not trying to take anything away from both CR and Drake's achievements though.

The yams reference not only a black cultural food, but also, saying he smells it down the street, is a direct reference to Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man, where the narrator finally is able to reject the ideologies that was fed to him which made him ashamed of is culture, of eating yam, but finally, he buys a yam and feels “freedom” and is ultimately motivated to become an orator for Black equality.
Thanks for this.
Yousef it’s a triple entendre. It also references yams from things fall apart by Chinua Achebe in which yams are seen as a form of currency and therefore power, hence Kendrick says everyone wants to cut the legs off of him when he has achieved wealth and prosperity, notably the white man
Yams are also slang for cocaine

I love how this guy won the Pulitzer Prize in music. Not in rap, pop, etc - but in the entire universe of MUSIC for 2018. Do you know how many people with a PhD in classical music or jazz he must've pissed off? All of them, is the answer. That is an amazing achievement
Pulitzer Prize isn't that great of a deal in music. But, even without all the prizes he has won, he's one of the greatest, he created a legacy that will never be forgotten. Prizes are bullshit if you want to compare quality of something, atleast in rap. Look at Nas, we all know that he didn't won big prizes, but he's one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a pen. Music is relative, prizes can't be used as a measure.
@@Portthefirst it's a big deal because it awards based on artistry alone. Whereas the Grammys and other awards choose their recipients based on sales, radio play, and other commercial factors. The Pulitzer Prize committee doesn't care about popularity or revenue potential. They only focus on the contribution the artist has made to the body of artistic work.
Will B you can check in google, in the music section it's not that much of a deal. You have plenty of albums/ songs that have better body artistic of work, one of them is Lupe Fiasco - Mural. But, nevertheless as I told you, rap is domething different, no prizes can truly determine if a rapper is better than the other, and Nas, Hov, Em, Rakim, G Rap, Kendrick, Lupe Fiasco, the whole Wu Tang and so on told us that. Glad to live in an era where I can listen freely these rap songs, it's wonderful.
