  • This video is a step by step tutorial on making a piano and synth pad layered sound on the Nord Stage 4 and through the process, we take an ordinary synth pad and using the power of the synth section and the effects, turn it into a soft synth pad that sounds great under our piano sound!
    I hope this video is helpful for you in setting up a sound that works well for worship/church music during intros or under dialog such as prayer or the pastor. Of course this sound works well for any other genre of music where a soft piano and pad layer is needed! This video is also a great starter tutorial for using the synth section!

    I won’t ever own an over priced nord but nice playing. Too many people have it honestly

    I had been using a midi controller with Synthogy Ivory for well over a decade, then my midi controller died. An NS4 was within my budget for a replacement (and very desirable because I wouldn't have to set up a laptop for sounds anymore), so I dove in, and I love it, although the learning curve is steep. I will be using this live in church on the regular as well as for shows about twice a month and adding my own touches on the way. Thanks for making that learning curve so much easier!

    Would love to see different worship pad sounds like how to make a drone sound. I’m learning how to tweak my pads on the stage 4 for my church and this helped so much thanks. Even more on learning what different parts of the synth sections do would be nice too. Seeing someone work the mechanics is better to me than reading something about it. I learn faster that way. God bless you man.

      I suggest looking at pads from Noah Wonder. He has some drone pads for purchase.

    Thank you so much for this video, it has really helped me understand the Nord Stage 4 keyboard. I just bought and was feeling overwhelmed and you explained the steps so well. I'm definitely sticking to your videos to learn about the Piano.

    I’m just now getting going with my stage four after trading up from my piano 5. I’m sticking with your videos as they are soooooo helpful! Ive learned a ton from just this one. Need to get this into the church so I was so glad to get a good solid piano pad stored. Keep teaching and God bless!

      May I ask why you traded the NP5? I really want to get one. And I think the NS4 is way too much money for things I’m not gonna use.

    • @lindawolfe8966
      @lindawolfe8966 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@menarj I traded up after much thought and you tube comparison because I wanted more real synth sounds and an organ. I wasn’t happy with the samples that came with the NP5 or those that could be added. If you like your piano sounds and don’t use much else I wouldn’t trade up. The NP 5 does have double piano and other sounds capability.

      Just bought a 73 key S4 to augment what I’m doing with my 88 piano five. Stage is unbelievably good but touch is better in piano for piano

    On the Synth pad layer, when I use the sustain pedal, every keypress adds an additional note layer which ultimately increases the volume.
    How can I tweak so when using to sustain pedal it will keep the same note without multiplying it?
    Thank you for this great channel and keep on posting!

    Very helpful! Thank you. Could you make another tutorial about the synth section?
    A tutorial on how to use which parameters to adjust a certain sound. Unfortunately there are almost no tutorials on this topic for the Nord Stage 4. I've noticed that many Nord Stage 4 users are relatively inexperienced when it comes to programming the synth section.

    • @A106
      @A106 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Since the board is new, just learn from the manual. Many people haven’t quite mastered it, as you said, they are inexperienced. But there are channels like MyKeysToMusic, in which gives you the whole rundown on the board. He just got a Stage 4, so I’m sure he will make a video on it soon. He already has a full course and rundown on the Stage 3, and some of the synth stuff on the NS3, can be applicable to the NS4 aswell!

    Thank you so much for very helpful videos. A quick question, how can I volume up and down all synth section layers at the same time?

    • @DSoundman
      @DSoundman  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You can assign multiple parameters to the morph assign. So you can assign all three of the volume faders in the synth section to control all three at once!

  • @joshuanesbit

    Why can’t you have amp envelope and filter envelope both on?

  • @brettbianchi6706
    @brettbianchi6706 Před dnem

    Curious why you make the mod wheel your volume for the pad even though there’s a fader for it?

    • @DSoundman
      @DSoundman  Před dnem +1

      Maybe part of it is just habit, but I also prefer reaching with my left hand to do it rather than crossing all the way over to the fader. I’ll often have multiple parameters all tied to the modulation wheel as well, so in those cases it makes sense to use it.
