People complain. If they lived in a city with no progress they’d complain. They live in a growing and desirable place that people are moving to.

You’re funny for that, it’s a massive project, miles of a new highway, with new exits and connecting ramps, it’s a lot of extra stuff.

You saying it wasn't planned properly, where they have an accurate completion date? Plenty of other projects finish on time, just never in Miami. 😂

Damn is traffic that bad in Miami... It amazes me how people just want things to stay the same and boring for decades ... that new stretch... that bridge is going to change Miami skyline forever and I'm not even from there I'm from New York

As someone from Miami: the synchronization of traffic systems, overwhelming stress on small town designed roads, converging roads, and interchnages is insane. There's billions being pumped just into two of our major interchanges being the I-395/SR 836/I-95 interchange and the Golden Glades Interchange (I think about $1.4 billion) to completely rebuild them to handle current day conditions and physically move over traffic heading to separate areas. They're also installing a brand new traffic management system throughout Miami-Dade County at all four way intersections to properly track and communicate with each other with advanced detection for all cars, bikers, bicycles, and pedestrians. It's a big game of catchup but a major issue is how physically massive Miami-Dade County is, how concentrated highly-profitable or high-revenue areas are and how much reliance there is on driving as a whole throughout Florida. There's also a big push for pedestrian infrastructure (more American style than Dutch atm), trams, trains, and local city services. We're expecting by 2030 for a LOT of Miami and many cities throughout the county to be reshaped. It also doesn't help that people are pouring in left, right, and center.

@@TastyGuava I just went through this in Orlando from 2015 - 2022, they completely rebuilt 22 miles of I-4, and similarly redesigned the biggest interchanges, spending near a $1B on the I-4 & East-West (408) interchange, replacing a terrible design that was built for a MUCH smaller city in 1964, before Disney announced they were coming to Florida. FYI - I spent the summer in downtown Miami in Brickell, so I got to feel the pain on this one too 🙂

The I-395 single column elevated upper level design is terrifying. It looks unsafe. I will not be using it, or the roads beneath it.
Plus, only 2 lanes northbound connecting to 95? Lame.

As you can see from most of the comments about this fugly bridge all over CZcams, a lot of people think this is a waste of money. And it is. This is what makes Florida and Miami a joke. We spend liberally on needless projects like this, but we cannot improve our existing infrastructure which would work just fine if we invested money into it. Namely, the airport infrastructure and existing mass transit infrastructure. Florida is always one step behind and Miami is always 2 steps behind.

Google the longest suspension bridge in the world. it was built in Türkiye in 3 1/2 years and unfortunately they’re building this small six arch bridge in longer time. Unbelievable.
