  • I normally don't talk about movies, but Garfield is my favorite cartoon, and this movie has been getting a lot of negativity around it. So along with another fan we wanted to talk about the movie and why we enjoyed it. Special thanks to Jeffyroth for finding so many images that were used in this video. Enjoy the podcast-esqe video discussion. :)

I liked the 2024 Garfield too and call it a guilty pleasure.

Glad to see Mark Dindal directing a big theatrical film again

As another person who loves Garfield, I also felt the movie itself was pretty darn good. It is a partly a guilty pleasure, but it is mostly a sincerely fun movie. It is a high 7/10 or low 8/10, not setting the world on fire but incredibly entertaining.

I wish Jinx’s song was included, but I am very glad it still exists in the credits

I feel like people are judging it because it is a kid's movie, And unless you can be Puss in Boots, The Last Wish, it's kind of hard to get that much attention nowadays.

Huh the only thing I heard about this movie was that it was generic spec script that was picked up and added Garfield last minute

I honestly liked the movie. It's not terrible so I don't get the hate.

I much prefer this Siskel & Ebert style of movie discussion/review, rather than just someone reading out a script of what their thoughts were.
Not to say that anyone who uses that style is faking it or anything like that, moreso that having it be unscripted discussion feels more authentic in my eyes.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
