The Charlie Brown specials for the "big" holidays are probably the most cherished. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas... but unrequited love is probably the biggest driving theme in Peanuts. You could probably argue that Valentine's Day is the holiday closest to Peanuts.
They gave the Valentine special one of the lowest ratings of the original series... one reason being that the series hit a new low in the level of cruelty inflicted on Charlie Brown. Regardless Vince still knocked it outta the park with his score. Oddly enough one of the least memorable scores was from the 1971 "Play it again Charlie brown" a special that had music as its basic plot.
