I had no idea that "junk journals" existed!!! You have utterly changed my whole world!! I have dabbled in many kinds of creative outlets, especially during and after cancer treatment. One of these creative ventures was Bible Journaling, so I have lots of ephemera left overs with no idea what to do with them. I could NOT throw them away! I've always had an affinity for paper, whether for writing or crafting, so I have lots of that as well. And books!! I just love books, especially old /used books. To me it feels like the used books have been loved by someone before me, they have their own stories to tell. No pun intended. So I have lots of books! People tend to give them to me when they learn that I love them. So... I have more than I'll ever get around to reading. A couple of days ago I had to have 4 teeth surgically removed, so last night was a little rough for me. While I was busy not sleeping, I was, of course, browsing the internet, as one does. I came across some beautiful pictures of these "books", the likes of which I'd never before seen. Further late night, pain med induced "browsing" (on pinterest at this point), revealed this wonderful art of junk journals!! Then somehow, I found my way to your You Tube channel! I was so excited that I almost called my daughter in the wee hours of the morning to share this wonderful "new" art form with her. Sanity won this time and I refrained from the 2am phone call. Then I realized that the first pictures I'd seen were posted about 8 years ago! How has this escaped me for so long?! Too late to make a long story short, but I am so glad I came across your channel!! After a little sleep, I've started watching your tutorials on how to make these beautiful journals from old friends/books. Thank you! I love your style and the way you talk to us like we're all friends just sitting in your living room, not like you're doing some fancy schmancy TV show. Can't wait to get started making my own junk journal! It may take me a while to actually destroy, I mean repurpose, one of my treasures, but this seems to be an awesome way to do something with them. I was thinking about insulating my tiny house (when I build it) with books between the studs, leaving parts open to be seen from the inside. I think this is better. Thank you so much! Sorry for writing an entire book, but you have inspired me so much!! Can't wait to get started! Off I go! First... To the bat cave! I mean, your amazon link to pick up a few things to help me along this new, exciting journey. You are truly inspirational at the exact time I needed to be inspired! Look how that worked out! Coincidence.... I think not. 😂

I’ve been watching tutorials on making Junk Journals for weeks. Today I stumbled upon yours. I’m so excited, I love your teaching style and how thorough your instructions are; best tutorials I’ve seen. I know I can do this! Guess what? I’ll be 80 years old in May. In the last year I purchased a Cricut and learned how to use it including “Design Space,” learned how to epoxy tumblers, and started paper crafting by following “The Posh Paper Lady,” and now Junk Journals. I love learning. I’ve subscribed and joined your Facebook group. I have company coming this week but I’m looking forward to the hunt for the perfect book when they go home. In the meantime, I’ll be binge watching your tutorials. Wish I could teach my dog to vacuum, 😇

First and foremost, you are a creative joy to watch. In hindsight, which is 10/10 for me, I could have watched FIRST, then tried it. I made do with materials that i had on hand, jumped over piles of paper and the dog, tripping around the headphone cord, arthritic fingers grasping air only to land in my chair to hear you say, "this is the fun part". I could not stop laughing. I enjoyed this tutorial very much and I thank you for making it a really fun way to learn something so creative. I look forward to more videos and more hopping around the house!

Even though I’ve made at least 100 journals, I still watch “how to” videos because I can always pick up some little jewel of knowledge. The jewel here was the Cropadile holes. My husband glanced over at the screen as you were punching and said, “Is that your next journal toy? It’s Christmas and your birthday coming up.” He knows me so well!
I enjoy the pace of your videos. I watch many videos on 1.25 speed or even 1.5 speed because they move so slowly. I love your snappy paced chatter. Are you a retired teacher by any chance? You use teaching techniques that reach different style learners.

oddly enough, I have been making journals out of scrap stuff for 4 years, have never watched a tutorial for my method, just let my method grow over time and I absolutely love the flaws and love the character and wouldnt for a second want even, perfect, store bought look, machine made look... The character of a unique method brings the "craft" into the realm of Art. something you cant find anywhere else. I sometimes sell mine, but recently have been exclusively giving them away to people I know are meant to be on my journey. anyways, it was cool seeing your stuff here. best wishes and have a good life.

Great series from a great teacher! This was a very informative tutorial. Even if your not planning to make a journal, this is a great tutorial for how to make a great tutorial! Excellent videography. Not to polished. Perfect amount of professionalism and quirkiness. I appreciated all the fumbled sayings, strange colloquialisms and misplaced tools. A purely honest representation from an artist and crafter. No trick photography here! Very entertaining fun to watch and fun to learn from. Great work!
