Since Mew can learn self-destruct, explosion, Submission and sky attack this run will be super easy!
Yeah, those are the moves that really matter!
Obviously you need to run self destruct and explosion to have more pp.
How could you possibly forget razor wind? It's a tough call, but I think you'll have to "sub" out submission

I had an idea that popped in to my head the instant you talked about the hidden power choice for your runs, so i thought I'd share it with you. How about always using a neutral nature every first run to get a feel for witch stats would be/could be necessary to change a bit for an improved time in the runs. Also would like to give you a commendation medal 🏅 ive been with you since your first Odd-ish run and i love all the content to date. Keep up your great attitude towards the runs, and adhd to adhd i found out the only reason i could shiny hunt was being really lucky the first 4 then really lucky on 5th tries, however i mett a wall called sudowoodo, so I've needed many breaks from it now, but i have the same determination that you talk about alot in your videos and its kind of hilarious cause im never giving up on it even if im currently at 25000 resets ish. Good luck with your stream and channel, ill be watching as often as i have the time and possibility to. And thanks alot for all the great content. Now where's Denis.... 👀
Honestly If he looks at the movepool, and TM/Move tutor availability you probably figure out the best nature for a challenge run. I Scott has trouble deciding he can always opt for one of the 6 mixed attacker natures. Rash(SPA up SDef down), Mild(SPA up Def down), Lonely(Atk up, Def Down), Naughty(Atk Up, SDef Down), Hasty(Speed up, Def Down), or Naive(Speed Up, Sdef Down). These Nature tend to see more play in Smogon ADV than later generations as many Pokemon more Pokemon use mixed offense(Mixmence) or get huge benefit from running Focus Punch(Charizard) on a special set or Fire Blast, Flamethrower(Flygon) or Ice beam(Tyranitar) for some OU examples.

Also Tangela is really easy in Fire Red because when the Special Stat was split in Gen 2, Tangela's Special Defense dropped from 100 to 40.
admittedly unrelated to this video in particular, but i'm incredibly glad i found your channel, as not only has it been a great source of entertainment for the past 6(?) months i've known of it, it has also taught me a great deal about the franchise. to be precise, i'm glad i now know of damage rounding thresholds, because just last night i was getting clobbered by cyrus, only to realize half my team was exactly 1 level below a damage rounding threshold. after giving 2 of them rare candies, it became near comically easy. thanks

About the Community Events, I can guarantee you that the Parasect race will probably do better than the Porygon race. While that video didn't really perform that well compared to your other videos on the channel, I have no doubt more people will look into this one. That first video was a new(er) concept then, but it helped lay the groundwork for the very specific community that you helped foster. If it weren't for that video, I don't think VanMan and Speedrunner would have quite the fanbases they have now; I know I didn't know who they were until that video. Now that they as well as others like Gym Leader Matt are likely to be in the next race, I'm sure more people will tune in to watch.

That's was an excellent run! 😊Mew was having almost no problems with the run, especially with the league. Having clam mind and soft boiled on your moveset was the key to everything at the end. But like almost any other pokemon brock was really hard, and only luck and planing could get by that one, or maybe some extra levels, who knows?🤔
By the way, I really liked the usage of thief, that was making Misty kind of trivial in a sense. 😊

I can confirm the different versions of the game have different stats. I was watching gunnermaniac, a Pokemon speedrunner, speed run the Japanese version of Pokemon Sapphire, and he said that some of the require trainers have different stats because they have different natures from the English version

Hi Scott. When I first started watching your videos I was highly critical of them, saying you make a lot of errors and that I enjoy Jrose's content more. Still, I was impressed with how thorough you were with playthroughs, I enjoyed your sense of humor since you aren't afraid to make it slightly sexual (like Jrose who cannot appreciate tiny bit inappropriate humor) and you reading and replying to comments was impressive (and I expect you to eventually stop doing that with your channel growing, huge time sink). So I stayed.
Since then you improved immensely both at the technical side of the videos, but also when it comes to stuff like damage ranges and calculations, while also pumping out content on a pace Jrose cannot ever match. You also make less mistakes in playhroughs. Honest congratulations, for me your content is nowadays in every way more enjoyable and informative than Jrose's.
Don't take this as me talking down your peers to make you feel better, I've been watching Jrose since his original kakuna rattata video and I know he peaked already, he makes very slight improvements ever since he hired AJ to edit his stuff.
Advice for future- keep being humble, keep having goals and ideas and be extremely careful when it comes to burning out. Make sure to care about other aspects of your life like your health and family, to relax after work, to take some time off, to get out of your comfort zone from time to time. It's very easy to burnout by doing something similar for living for long, and maybe now it doesn't affect you, but you cannot predict what happens in 2 years or when midlife crisis strikes in like 5-10 years.
I’m glad you stuck around and gave me a shot. I didn’t start with any of the skills required for this sort of thing. Couldn’t edit videos, didn’t know the type chart, and really didn’t know Venomoth’s type. It’s been a really fun journey learning.
I hear you regarding being humble. I think it’s so key too. I want to keep learning and so retaining a constant humility is required.
It’s tricky for me hearing the comparisons you make between me and Jrose. His work inspired me to start doing this. Still, if I compare the work I started out doing with what I do now I can truly say that I’m so happy and proud of what has been accomplished. I hope that I can just keep learning and improving.
Love your programming that you bring to the videos. I think a accuracy pop up would be cool too. I dont know the stages % drop.

One of my personal beliefs about Mew is that if ever a move _was_ a TM and ceases to be a TM in the next generation, it should become part of Mew's level-up or move tutor learnset to keep it consistently in Mew's repertoir. Doesn't matter that Pay Day both sucks and is otherwise the signature move of the Meowth line, Mew should always have access to it because it was a TM in gen 1 and thus Mew could be taught it back then!
It's kinda funny, you were talking about your favourite music track in Pokémon over my favourite track, which is Gen III's arrangement of S.S. Anne. As a kid, I used to basically be always playing Pokémon Ruby, and I used to spend so much time in the Oceanic Museum in Slateport just listening to the S.S. Anne arrangement that plays there.
Note: If you ever do a mew run in platinum; do NOT use transform. There’s a glitch that causes the moves to be permanent.

I have a recommendation for the next community race: Smeargle.
Given that it can Sketch pretty much any move, I imagine it would be very interesting to see the ideas people come up with to get through the game. Most Pokemon have a best way they can get through and that's it... but Smeargle makes the player decide.
Fun fact: 'Tackle', in these here quaint old isles of Britannia, is another word for... Well, let me put it this way. When you say things like 'But my tackle wasn't very impressive', or 'My tackle managed to absolutely destroy him', it does the funny.
Watching this really has me feeling emotional. Pokémon fire red fully encapsulates my idea of Pokémon. Such a great game and amazing memories. Wish I could go back sometimes :,)

Always great to watch another vid from you! One of the questions asks about how Pokemon is handling plot in newer games. I guess I have a different outlook on replayability because when I play pokemon, I don't need to replay it necessarily. I just want a singular fun and good experience. I'm not saying I'm purely casual, because I've been playing competitive for a while now and have done my fair share of challenge runs. Just only really interested in playing base game for the contents of its main gameplay loop. Maybe that's why I find myself often at odds with most of the Pokemon community when it comes to opinions on the games. Because most of them play for differing reasons in comparison to my own. Like shiny hunting, or nuzlockes, or solo challenge runs. It's nice to spend my time reading and soaking in the lore. It's why gen 8 peeved me with its postcard storytelling style. I get why people don't prefer games like gen 7, even though it's one of my personal favorites for the overall quality of life changes, difficulty, plot/characters, and attention to detail in it (among other things that break the mold like the totem bosses). I like gen 5 and 9 better though overall, and I think the whole reason why is that initial slog. I liked most of the cutscenes, I do agree the tutorials were awfully implemented though. I'm an RPG lover in general so it makes sense I would feel that way. I think many pokemon people tend to land in a whole different genre, which is really the main appeal of pokemon. I can see the appeal of the older games in your vids too, they've got lots of unique mechanical things about them that adds charm to the experience. Sorry that was so long lmao why am I like this, I even shortened it and it's still this long please
This is a healthy perspective to have. Expecting every game to be infinitely repayable isn't necessarily a measure of a good game. Plus, we've got games that can be replayed over and over (at least for me.)

Congrats on how fast your channel is growing ! I remember when you had far less subscribers though I could tell you were gonna get bigger. You just had that something it took, keep it up man ! I cook dinner and do other house chores to your videos because I have always been a big pokemon fan and because they are rather relaxing funnily enough. I know you want to use retroarch but would drastic ds emulator work better potentially. I know its a standalone emulator but maybe it would allow access to the ram. I tried using retroarch, didn't like it really. My saves wouldn't stick other emulators wouldn't play nice with it either.
We're finding a solution with Retroarch. It gives far better footage qualify, despite it being quite cumbersome.
You play SC2! Have you seen GiantGrantGames' challenge videos? I've been pestering him to do a playthrough of WoL with only a blastoise, but now I think it might be just as fun to see how fast you could beat Pokémon Yellow with an ultralisk.

Gen 2: Totodile (though Cyndaquil's best in Gens 2 and 3, due to better mixed stats and Water being special)
Gen 3: Treecko
Gen 4: Chimchar
Gen 5: Oshawott
Gen 6: Froakie
Gen 7: Litten
Gen 8: Scorbunny
Gen 9: Fuecoco
Blastoise is alright, but slow and a little weak, while Venusaur is too passive for my liking - though Sleep Powder's great.
Meganium...ugh, no. I already mentioned I prefer Typhlosion in Crystal, but Feraligatr in HGSS (can now use physical Water and Ice moves, and physical Crunch, while most of Typh's moves run off his lower Atk - so the issue effectively reversed itself).
I was never a big fan of Blaziken, as I played Pearl before Emerald, and that FireFighter is my favourite. Swampert is great, but slow.
Torterra's great too, but slow and 4x Ice weakness hurts. Empoleon...never liked him. Weak to both Torterra and Infernape, and doesn't have a wide movepool _at all_ especially without Hidden Power and Signal Beam. Ugh.
I don't like Delphox's design, and Chesnaught has way too many weaknesses for a slower, bulkier 'mon.
I absolutely hate how feminine Primarina looks, when Popplio by himself is my favourite; Decidueye just has far too narrow a movepool, like the penguin above. Shame Incineroar loses a lot of Speed, though.
Inteleon's movepool once again has the "too narrow" issue, so he's out; Rillaboom's great too, but not as fast. Really, Cinderace also has a narrow movepool, but he's got _juuust_ enough to be useable.
All of Paldea's starters are great; it's just that I chose fire croc as mine, as I found Quaquaval's design too goofy, and I despise nerfs with a passion and Meowscarada's Hidden Ability was nerfed, so...no. Plus, Skeledirge has Unaware and Torch Song, which boosts Sp. Atk, and he's also got a decent enough movepool and good bulk.

50:34 It makes sense they kept the accuracy of Rock Slide lower. It's a spread move that also has a 30% flinch chance. Maybe they should raise the power to 80 or raise the accuracy to 95%?
I picked up Pokemon Ultra Moon when it came out. I tried. I tried really, really hard. I took breaks when I got frustrated, I reminded myself that eventually it will run out of tutorials for valueless systems I will never use, at some point the NPCs will shut up, and that later on the fights get really interesting and the music is awesome and the evil team leader has a neat personality. I survived two in game hours before I got fed up and shut it off. Ultra Moon soured me to the modern Pokemon experience. Don't get me wrong, I know that for someone the newest Pokemon game is going to be their first and they will have no idea what they're doing; a quick rundown of the world and how it works will help them. But for the love of Arceus don't make me sit through 100 minutes of tutorials and dialogue in the first two hours. Don't make me wait 30 minutes before giving me my first pokemon, and then spend the next 20 on more tutorials and dialogue. Don't force me to grind for levels on wild pokemon just so I can get some battles in between learning how to take pictures with the rotomdex and saving Lillie from whatever the hell is bothering her this time. I can hardly say that I stopped playing the game, because it honestly felt like I never got to start.
If you never do Gen 7 on the channel, I will not be disappointed in the least. If enough sadistic ne'er-do-wells convince you to do it, I sincerely hope someone makes a rom hack that lets you skip the gratuitous bloat.
I will try to make this hack. I won’t be playing it on the channel with all the cutscenes. Honestly I loved Sun and Moon. But by the time the Ultras came out it’s spell had worn off. It’s more of an interactive book than a game with how much dialogue you have to scroll through, and I really don’t like reading.
