I always kind of compare him to D.O., who, despite not being in the dance line, is a good dancer, but when he performs, he does 'just enough'. It's similar to Sehun too. It's not necessarily saying he's not good or anything, but he doesn't really stand out to some people because of it.
As a comment mentioned below, every EXO-L loves Sehun because he's our baby, so my first instinct was to get mad at Jasper for a perceived diss. However, I won't get angry because maybe he doesn't know. Kai, Lay, and Sehun are the main dancers in EXO and they all have different dance styles. Kai has a background in ballet and contemporary dance so you can see a lot of those influences in his dancing. Lay's style is more sharp and angular. He literally dances like his body is trying to solve a complex math problem. Sehun's style is more relaxed. He doesn't do just enough but that's literally his style when he's performing be it singing, dancing, or rapping. Even the way he walks is languid and casual but Sehun doesn't waste any part of his body when he dances. He makes sure to use all his movements. I've said before that I appreciate how Jasper says his mind even if others may not agree but ever since he called Super Junior "rejects" and spoke badly about Shindong for being heavy I've been kind of upset. I really like y'alls channel and I appreciate your reactions but please do some research on groups you're reacting to. On the upside, at least JD is saying Baekhyun's name correctly.

sehun's way of dancing is different from kai tho. sehun - hiphop, fast beat, kai - contemporary, slow and sharp, lay - fast and sharp. all exo members complete and complements each other. no point in taking 2 people who are good at the same thing.
I love that Kai is acknowledged and people appreciate him for his dance and the feelings he put into it,he does it cuz dancing it's his passion and not just bcuz he took ballet classes 😊 he also can pull off different kinds of styles not only ballet and jazz as u may think. That video is a little dated, a lot dated if you consider Sehun's age. I point this out because I agree about Sehun 'feeling' music. Actual he probably does but for whatever reason he doesn't show it through dance. That said, he has come a long way. We see a bit more improv and facial expression now instead of strict precision. He's made it through puberty and is able to take on some singing; maybe that has made a difference. Anyway, thanks for viewing.

Over the years I've realized that it is his style, and it is unqiue and perfectly suited for him. Kai is balletic and expressive, Lay is sharp and powerful, and Sehun is relaxed and sassy. Here is a fan of Sehun and it is offensive to hear that he does not feel the music, so he would not be a singer and dancer. If there is someone who is elegant in his movements is Sehun. I understand that whoever has your full attention is Kai, and it's ok, but do not come to discredit Sehun as if he had no talent, because for my reasons Sehun is extraordinary wherever he looks. Kai considered one of the best kpop dancer because of his background in ballet taught him lyrical dance and body expression. Something kpop rarely had. He was one the first kpop dancers that studied professional dancing. While Sehun has a hiphop and pop, you cant expect a pop dancer to dance as expressive as contemp. dancer. Tbh, I prefer Sehun dance hiphop more than Kai. And Kai is my bias. He has groove that I like. He does dougie very well if you ask me.
I'm sorry but the reason why kai can feel the music isn't because he was trained in ballet wth, everyone can do the same thing if they want, but emotion is coming from your passion. No matter how hard you were trainned in something but if you aint loving of what you do, then it still won't make you good at it. I'm so sick with kind of defense like this. I'm assuming that sehun wasn't really comfortable in dancing contemporary is because this type of dance isn't his passion. @@fathy2370 If you're talking about his facial expression etc. That's not what I meant. I was talking about how ballet taught him a bit technicality about to tell a story through dancing. There were barely any kpop idols used modern dance back then, most of their core genre was hiphop or pop. He was talented cause he can blend those genres he learned into his own style. It makes him exotic almost. His body language and gesture has a lot similarities to ballet. You can see them in all of his self-choreographed routines; Door, Deep Breathe, I See You, Baby Don't Cry, My Lady, Angel . The part in Power where he got up straight from lying down without using his hands is an example of core strength technique from modern and ballet. The bridge part in Growl too need a lot of core strength in his lower body, and was effortless with it. He's like the pioneer of interprepative dance among kpop idol. And it's all thanks to his first experience in various genres, but mostly his first few ones. Yes, lots of dance genre used body language and story telling. But his stylistic choices wise, it's what it is. And that's his passion. He love dancing so much, he explores all the knowledge he can get and try to get his own stroke.

And off course i know that kai was trainned in ballet since he was 8. I found him different because of how ballet influences a lot into his hiphop style of dance but then it still won't show "he can feel the music" if he didn't bring it with the facial expressions. Because i do believe every dance must be carried a message and meaning, that's where the role of facial expression is needed. And that's also the point why JD said kai can feel it. Lay did dance when he was young BUT he only got professionally trained when he entered SM in the age around 18. Before he became a trainee, he only did some random dancing and some old dance moves which just for entertainment use.
Sehun isn't just doing 'enough' he has a different kind of feeling to his dance than Jongin but he is still good at what he does and I'm kinda dissapointed that you would think otherwhise ...

I completely disagree with your opinion on Sehuns' dancing. I will explain my reasoning politely. Jongin (Kai) has always danced. He's been dancing ever since he was little, and he was trained in contemporary dance, things such as ballet. Jongin even said that before his career in SM Entertainment and joining EXO, he wanted to go into the field of professional dance and become a ballet dancer. Although Jongin did all types of dancing and nails it all, contemporary has always been his strong suite. My sister was a ballerina for a short amount of time, but enough that I have a very very basic understanding of ballet. In ballet, it is more common to be much more immersed in the music and the feeling it invokes. Ballet is used is theater, such as musicals or things like Disney on Ice. Emotion, movement and understanding of the song(s) portrayal of things is very critical. Sehun, on the other hand, was not trained in ballet nor contemporary dance. Sehun (correct me if I'm wrong), was never really trained. Of course, he was trained at SM and continues to be (obviously, hes an idol and in EXO), but he never took it up as a child. Sehun was extremely young (younger than Jongin), and was going through that awkward stage of puberty. Learning to dance, sing and rap was most likely difficult on him. Sehun has a much more street and urban style. He dances like a lot of American Hip Hop we see. In Hip Hop, it is more about looking cool and having very sharp, calculated moves than moving freely. And to put this out there, Jongin and Sehuns' dance in Baby Don't Cry is very different; they give me different emotions. Jongins' dance reminds me of someone who is extremely desperate so their "baby" doesn't cry, and is reaching out to get help. To soothe those emotions. Sehun, on the other hand, makes me feel restrained. Like someone is begging you not to cry and to calm down. It is still desperate, but it is desperation mixed with frustration of being ignored. Please learn to appreciate and value art (especially dancing) in different ways. Dance is such a versatile art form that you must look at it from all different perspectives and interpenetrate things in various ways.
blissfulkim, I agree with some things, we need to appreciate every member and their talents. But when you say that Sehun was extremely younger than Kai I got confused because Sehun is only three months younger than Kai. And Sehun got into SM just a year after Kai. Both were pretty young and going through puberty at the same time the only difference is that Kai already had a basic understanding of dancing that's all, both of them had to learned singing and rapping, a part of me think you are just victimizing Sehun when the majority of idols in Korea go through all of this (Some members of NCT are just 16 y/o).

That video is a little dated, a lot dated if you consider Sehun's age. I point this out because I agree about Sehun 'feeling' music. Actual he probably does but for whatever reason he doesn't show it through dance. That said, he has come a long way. We see a bit more improv and facial expression now instead of strict precision. He's made it through puberty and is able to take on some singing; maybe that has made a difference. Anyway, thanks for viewing.

I understand you view point of how it looks like Sehun doesn't try because I've thought of that too even though he is my ultimate bias. Over the years I've realized that it is his style, and it is unqiue and perfectly suited for him.
Kai is balletic and expressive, Lay is sharp and powerful, and Sehun is relaxed and sassy.

Kai considered one of the best kpop dancer because of his background in ballet taught him lyrical dance and body expression. Something kpop rarely had. He was one the first kpop dancers that studied professional dancing.
While Sehun has a hiphop and pop, you cant expect a pop dancer to dance as expressive as contemp. dancer. Tbh, I prefer Sehun dance hiphop more than Kai. And Kai is my bias. He has groove that I like. He does dougie very well if you ask me.

I'm sorry but the reason why kai can feel the music isn't because he was trained in ballet wth, everyone can do the same thing if they want, but emotion is coming from your passion. No matter how hard you were trainned in something but if you aint loving of what you do, then it still won't make you good at it. I'm so sick with kind of defense like this. I'm assuming that sehun wasn't really comfortable in dancing contemporary is because this type of dance isn't his passion. Also, kai is considered as one of the best dancer in kpop isn't just because his background in ballet, but his passion in any kind of dance, and he can pull off all of that very well, enough said.

@@fathy2370 If you're talking about his facial expression etc. That's not what I meant. I was talking about how ballet taught him a bit technicality about to tell a story through dancing. There were barely any kpop idols used modern dance back then, most of their core genre was hiphop or pop. He was talented cause he can blend those genres he learned into his own style. It makes him exotic almost.
His body language and gesture has a lot similarities to ballet. You can see them in all of his self-choreographed routines; Door, Deep Breathe, I See You, Baby Don't Cry, My Lady, Angel . The part in Power where he got up straight from lying down without using his hands is an example of core strength technique from modern and ballet. The bridge part in Growl too need a lot of core strength in his lower body, and was effortless with it.
He's like the pioneer of interprepative dance among kpop idol. And it's all thanks to his first experience in various genres, but mostly his first few ones.
Yes, lots of dance genre used body language and story telling. But his stylistic choices wise, it's what it is. And that's his passion. He love dancing so much, he explores all the knowledge he can get and try to get his own stroke.

And off course i know that kai was trainned in ballet since he was 8. I found him different because of how ballet influences a lot into his hiphop style of dance but then it still won't show "he can feel the music" if he didn't bring it with the facial expressions. Because i do believe every dance must be carried a message and meaning, that's where the role of facial expression is needed. And that's also the point why JD said kai can feel it. Lay did dance when he was young BUT he only got professionally trained when he entered SM in the age around 18. Before he became a trainee, he only did some random dancing and some old dance moves which just for entertainment use.

I completely disagree with your opinion on Sehuns' dancing. I will explain my reasoning politely.
Jongin (Kai) has always danced. He's been dancing ever since he was little, and he was trained in contemporary dance, things such as ballet. Jongin even said that before his career in SM Entertainment and joining EXO, he wanted to go into the field of professional dance and become a ballet dancer. Although Jongin did all types of dancing and nails it all, contemporary has always been his strong suite.
My sister was a ballerina for a short amount of time, but enough that I have a very very basic understanding of ballet. In ballet, it is more common to be much more immersed in the music and the feeling it invokes. Ballet is used is theater, such as musicals or things like Disney on Ice. Emotion, movement and understanding of the song(s) portrayal of things is very critical.
Sehun, on the other hand, was not trained in ballet nor contemporary dance. Sehun (correct me if I'm wrong), was never really trained. Of course, he was trained at SM and continues to be (obviously, hes an idol and in EXO), but he never took it up as a child. Sehun was extremely young (younger than Jongin), and was going through that awkward stage of puberty. Learning to dance, sing and rap was most likely difficult on him.
Sehun has a much more street and urban style. He dances like a lot of American Hip Hop we see. In Hip Hop, it is more about looking cool and having very sharp, calculated moves than moving freely.
And to put this out there, Jongin and Sehuns' dance in Baby Don't Cry is very different; they give me different emotions. Jongins' dance reminds me of someone who is extremely desperate so their "baby" doesn't cry, and is reaching out to get help. To soothe those emotions. Sehun, on the other hand, makes me feel restrained. Like someone is begging you not to cry and to calm down. It is still desperate, but it is desperation mixed with frustration of being ignored.
Please learn to appreciate and value art (especially dancing) in different ways. Dance is such a versatile art form that you must look at it from all different perspectives and interpenetrate things in various ways.
blissfulkim, I agree with some things, we need to appreciate every member and their talents.
But when you say that Sehun was extremely younger than Kai I got confused because Sehun is only three months younger than Kai. And Sehun got into SM just a year after Kai. Both were pretty young and going through puberty at the same time the only difference is that Kai already had a basic understanding of dancing that's all, both of them had to learned singing and rapping, a part of me think you are just victimizing Sehun when the majority of idols in Korea go through all of this (Some members of NCT are just 16 y/o).
