I have a theory. Got this from a diff vid. So when gogeta smiles, its because he knows he just saved someones life. Like broly and janemba. With the soul punisher, he used it on the both of them. After he used it, it released the evil from their soul and purified them. Along with that, he doesnt know if he'll ever be back again, so he takes a moment to admire the moment he was there.

He didn’t smile against Hearts because the Soul Punisher completely destroyed him instead of purifying him. But he also thinks about the fact that he might never be created again and admires the land around him as that might be the last time he ever sees it.
This is true men like maybe vegito also understand that he has 1 hour and so since goku likes to fight He spends all this time playing around and enjoying it but since gogeta is more like vegeta, gogeta is more serious and spends his last minutes enjoying it without fighting
For gogeta, winning is saving the enemy itself, not killing them
Gogeta smiles because he enjoys life, so when he uses soul punisher, and it doesnt kill, he smiles because he was able to give that person a chance to enjoy life as well within that 30 minute lifespan he has, he smiles because he knows he did a great deed while enjoying what he could, because he doesnt know when the next time he'll live is. Gogeta smiles not because his life is too short for war, he smiles because he brings peace.

This is why i like gogeta way more than vegito, gogeta has more character and personality and not just being cocky all the time
Gogeta smiles, he enjoys the life he is given, deapite it lasting 30 minutes, he wants to end fights quick, he tries to save others from evil, he smiles when returning Janemba to his true self, and Broly because he's not a bad guy, he was overcome by grief, enraged, angry, he went berserk, Gogeta saved him from that pain, and smiles, but against Hearts, Hearts got destroyed, there was no good in him, he was, by all counts, evil... He was sad, he didn't wish for Hearts to die that way, he wanted to save Hearts from evil, but there was no good in Hearts, hence why he got destroyed, Gogeta didn't smile, not because he destroyed someone, but because he couldn't save someone from evil
Technically vegito is enjoying his last 1 hour that resets in the wish of goku and vegeta
He didn’t smile there becuase he used soul punisher to find good in his enemy and since his enemy didn’t have any good in him it didn’t work so gogeta didn’t smile since he wasn’t able to save him. That’s why he smiled for broly and jabemba because they still had some good in them and he was able to save them

Moral of the Story is that gogeta got the chance to kick some butt, have a good fight, purify someone heart and try to enjoy the last little moments that he has left because it could be his Last because vegeta and goku dont like fusion like that only when needed. Touching, Shout out to GOGETA

That’s the sad part of fusion is that when they fuse they don’t become someone with two conscious he is a completely separate entity with his own thoughts and personality and who knows if he will ever get to exist again
