    We just did this on my 2016 Ram Rebel with 40k miles on it.
    I had a friend help, so we could 'tag team' it. Before we started I told my friend this was only supposed to take an hour. We both laughed (knowing how exhsust systems fuse together).
    It took us about 50 minutes to get everything apart and 15 minutes to install the new muffler. Close enough to an hour to me.
    We did have to cut the clamps of the back of the stock muffler, loosening the bolts didn't help.
    It sounds great and with the Mopar CAI (that I installed a few months ago) they seem to add some power.
    It is almost like I switched back to the 32" stock tires, from the 34's I have now.
    Thanks for the help.

    Just a word of warning. If your truck is a few years old the factory muffler doesn't come off this easily. I just had this muffler put on my 2013 Ram. I took it to a shop and they fought with the factory muffler for an hour and a half before it finally came off.

      Your exhaust work was done by kids with lil experience. if you were removing the factory muffler they could have used a splitter which goes on an air chisel that will split the pipe in mere seconds. It took them a lot of time because they have limited experience and tools. also if muffler is using old school clamps there is a tool you can place in the pipe and expand it so you can ding the pipe with a body hammer to restore it to original condition to make the new muffler slip on effortlessly.

    I'm curious how did you get the muffler off of the tailpipes without removing them? I've always seen people take the hangers off of the tailpipes first before trying to remove the muffler.

    • @AmericanTrucksRam
      @AmericanTrucksRam  Před 4 lety

      Hey, Erick! Sounds like theres a possibility of installer error or a defect on the clamp itself. I would recommend calling our customer service team if this is a part that you ordered from us to see what we can do. I have a feeling we'll likely refer you to a local shop to have them take a look at things and request some pictures of where its leaking. -Zach

    A little misleading of a video, the stock muffler is extremely hard to take off due to the clamps (at least for me) , I literally had to pry and snap them off the pipe and still wasn’t able to pull the pipes apart.

    • @AmericanTrucksRam
      @AmericanTrucksRam  Před 4 lety

      If you're concerned about factory warranty, I'd recommend checking with your dealership before modifying your exhaust. But since this is just a muffler swap, you honestly should not have any issues. -Zach

      @@AmericanTrucksRam Got in touch with the dealer and they said that it would not void the warranty simply because the warranty deals only with any lubricant component, but I would be responsible if something goes wrong with catalytic convertor or anything else relate to the exhaust system. Thanks for your response to my concerns.

    • @AmericanTrucksRam
      @AmericanTrucksRam  Před 4 lety +3

      Could honestly be a number of reasons! Clogged air filter, burnt out O2 sensor, clogged catalytic converter, dirty oil needing changed, worn out spark plugs or coils, or just having a heavy foot while driving if you have the 5.7L HEMI. If you have a lighter foot while driving and still have bad mileage, you may want to take it to a shop and have them look things over. It may just need a little tune up. -Zach
