Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Signals Still In Use! Weird RR Crossing, Train With DPU In Tipp City Ohio

- Weird Railroad Crossing With Crossbuck & Gates, Ancient Railroad Signals Still In Use, Train With DPU Books Through City! These CSX trains are in Tipp City, Ohio and Troy, Ohio. Last train is a local switching freight train with a conductor riding the rear over a railroad crossing with B&O signals. Old Baltimore And Ohio Railroad signals still in use and we see 2 dwarf signals. The first level railway crossing is interesting because it has lights and gates on one side and only cross buck protection on the other side. That is because it is a one way street. We see the old signals up close and then we see a long train with DPU go right next to a building that came from my HO scale layout. It looks just like it. These trains were in Tipp City but the last train is in Troy. I actually filmed it first and chased it to Tipp City so that we can see both sides of the same train. Hey, that's what I do. What did you think about the first train running long hood forward and do you know of any old railroad signals like these still in use? Leave comments below. Filmed In 4K on July 13, 2022.

Nice catch that Pan Am on the 2nd train was nice it thumbs up again
thanks for watching !
In the 70s, we used to call it Trip City.
Morning jawtooth that first train was running long hood in front I wonder if he was hauling empties or pulling them to a siding further down the line somewhere.
Tippecanoe and Tyler too!!
Thanks for watching !
Tipp had a scare few weeks ago when they tornado struck.
Hit the Meijer grocery warehouse
I remember that. Thanks for watching !
Good grief!! I could smell the paint on that DPU when it went by😁 That joker was brand new.
Strange how everyone points out how new and shiny the DPU is -- it and the lead locomotive are consecutively numbered recent rebuilds (7270 on the front and 7269 in the middle).
@@beeble2003 Good eye brother!! I totally missed it.
Good morning to you JT! Awesome video!!!
Good morning Eric!
That was some live action at that second crossing with that red pick up! That was kinda close with the crossing gate!
years ago I worked for a toolbox company and unloaded and loaded those 20,000 lb coils of steel. Seeing them on that train reminded me of those days haha
Cool! thanks for your comments
Like the historic signals. Cute small town glad they took care of the station and buildings. Chessie is cute! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
thanks for watching !
Those B&O signals are use on this line for most of the Toledo sub's length, I would say from Hamilton, just north of Cincinnati to Toledo.
Just finished one of your videos from 9/20 of that big trestle.
Great job Jawtooth, many thanks.
Godspeed good man.
That DPU, looked brand new
That first train was really moving through town. That second train was hauling everything - pretty sure there was a kitchen sink too.
Or,at least, a cook stove. L O L.
Yes it was
Some good local action. That dpu at the 8:00 mark had fresh paint lol. That old freight depot is cool. Great video!
The leader and the DPU were both recently rebuilt
I like that second old brick, two-story building. It looks like the Wright brothers bicycle shop.
It does. Thanks for watching !
Wonderful job on this video. Man, that second train sure has mega steel coils on it.
Thank you very much!
Love it Jaw Tooth Have a great week . Cheers . Love CSX and NS cheers . Sincerely Andrew Macintosh.
I counted 180 cars on the second train.
And there are 2 schools in tipp city. Tippecanoe High School and Tipp City Bethel High School. Great catches btw
I found those dwarf signals on a siding on the CSX Ohio River line, close to the Byrd Dam. And yes, they were lit. BTW, I just realized I'm the same as that rail. 6' tall, 275lb. 137lb a yard. 🤣
Very cool! I like that area
Great excellent good video, mr Jaw Tooth.
My question about the railwaysignals is the dwarfsignal is for the rightspur, the signal on the pole is for the leftspur but there is a sidingspur have this spur no signal?
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Coil steel was popular that day. A nice DPU on the second train :) A nice shove out to the main line as well. Great catches in Tippecanoe and Tyler Too :)
Thanks 👍
Hey YT, Yogurt is good for dogs. I use to give it to my dogs
They LOVED it 😋
Thanks for the videos, brings back my memories in Ohio. All good 🤠
Thanks for sharing!!
Jaw Tooth is a train video making machine! Wait, there's more. Thanks for the videos, very cool!
More to come!
Nice catch of the CSX GEEP local train running LHF that's always a great catch! The 2nd CSX train w the DPU had quite a HEFTY consist of mixed freight cars as well! Those old B&O signals along w the dwarf signals are so awesome! The last part of the local switching was cool too at that unique crossing! I like how that dwarf signal is tucked away by that building but still noticable by the indicator lights.recently bought some dwarf signals for my layout. Thanks as always for a great video in Tipp, Ohio.
Thank you very much!
Tipp city is very nice love those old small towns. Great video thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Good morning to all from SE Louisiana 19 Jul 22.
Good morning to you
Good morning Bill!
Cool video Jaw Tooth, I got out of watching train vids for a while but gonna go back and catch up on your vids.
Welcome back! I have plenty for you lol
Norfie always grooming or digging for fleas! Chessie just watching... Very long train there!
Arcelor-Mittal! Major steel company based in Luxembourg. A lot of steel coil on that second train, too...another great one, JT!
Thanks for the info!
One of your best videos ever! Cute little town and parks. And, those B&O signals still in use are amazing after 70 to 90 plus years of faithful service. Norfie and Chessie are always the cherry on top for me. 😺🐕❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's all new to me, Señor Jaws. I really like your choice of location for today's train treat. Pretty little towns on a beautiful summer's day. You're doin' a fine job! Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Puebla, México...
¡Saludos a Ferromex! :)

dang I just live 3 blocks from the one way street you were filming on. one of these days I'll catch up with ya filming in town I have some really cool things and places to show ya. .
Wow
great video
Thanks!
Cool on the old signals. Nice they are still in use. Cool that you checked the rail since i was working there. I may have even had a test piece cut off of that rail.
Very cool
@@JawTooth Thank you.
Hey JT. So good to see these old signals still in use today, even the dwarf signals. Wow That was one. huuggee
Manifest, with a brand new rebuild
DPU. Good job JT. Informative and entertaining.👍🏼
I remember seeing these signals as me and my family was visiting my sister there. we was just there few weeks ago for the fireworks.
Very cool signals and train depot, very much old school, along with the old boxcars Pan Am,and Chessie System logos, congratulations for a great video👍,did you say you have a model train setup, would like to see that on video 😀,anyway, thank you keep up the great videos and stay safe my friend, love the pets as well👍😁🤘😀👋🚂..
That was pretty cool to see the mouse signal switch over from green to red!
You can tell how hard that DPU was working. You can see the trees swaying from the exhaust of the engine. Good video J.T.
I love those old signal lights. They're becoming more and more scarce. If those old signals could talk, imagine what they would say.
Amazing video Brian! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Hi Jaw Tooth. Great video! That’s cool that town created a small railroad themed park
Love those old B&O signals that first CSX train was short. Must have been a local maybe. That second one was long I know it’s a long train when you say “dpu I see you”
Have a great day!
Thanks for watching! We walked by the old freight depot and some ground hornets attacked us. One stung my friend on the arm and chased me. lol
Another great historical catch Jawtooth!! I've started my own train videos of the Frankston Doodlebug and steel train thanks to your inspiration.
THANKS 👍
Very cool!
THAT WAS ME IN THE ESCAPE RIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST TRAIN! LOL We went around the block to the warehouse to catch it. That means that was you we saw in Troy too bc we saw it there first and followed it to Tipp
Very cool! I saw you lol
Good morning Jaw Tooth
Good morning !
@@JawTooth Have a great Day!
Used to live in Fairborn and would go up to “Tripp” City to catch the Cincinnatian on thw B&O.The reason the siding is not used very often is because trains are now so long they will not fit in a siding without fouling the main
Crossing gate on one side and not the other is due to it being a one way street. Great video - one of my favorite places!
That was really cool JT. We'll be heading down your way in the next few weeks; may have to make a detour to check out those old signals!
Nice to see a town embrace the railroading with the depot and all!
Tipp City is TOPS when it comes to old buildings in good shape that are trackside. Neat freight house with the wedgie park. The little dwarf signal is mighty close to the street and luckily has avoided being struck by a snow plow. Both GEs nice and spiffy and those open top coil cars have Six Pack Abs. (coils)
Very cool!
WWII ended Sep 2, 1945 but the German Street crossing claimed the life of 72 year old Tipp City Patrolman George Eickmeyer on Sep 14, 1945
Love those old signals!! Especially the little dwarf!
Me too!
I love the old signals.
I counted 17 cars on the third train.
Jaw Tooth, I love your videos! I model Santa Fe circa 1987, I get so much insperation from you, Thank you! Keep em' comin son!!
I love those old CPL signals, I didnt know any were still in use. Goodd looking restored freight station and a really neat looking town. Great live action JT, You tha man 👊.... Cheers Rob
7269 (DPU) looks either new or freshly painted.
It's a brand new rebuild. Strange how nobody notices that 7270 on the front of that train is equally new and equally shiny.
It was amazing and rare to see a locomotive pulling a single unit in the front!!
Thanks for watching !
Not really that rare at all.
Love them old signal's Jawtooth! It's really great they have kept them in service! I miss the signal's that were on the L&N mainline of CSX, they used to have separate hoods for each light, the new one's wrap all the way around ,they just don't have that nostalgic feel anymore, I sure hope they don't replace those with them. Great video Jawtooth! Thanks for sharing!
I wish I would have filmed more of the L&N signals. Thanks for watching !
Great place jaw . And a nice day . Freight station looks so good nice to model that . Kitty was busy cleaning and Jessie loves yogurt and ice cream I bet 😂👍🏻 . Thxs Robin out 👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
That's neat stuff. I like that location with the brick building, signal, and crossing. That would make an awesome scene in a model railroad.
With the B&O signals, they use the cantilever setup with the signal to the left referring to the left-most track and the dwarf referring to the siding. I was lucky way back in the olden days (1985) to talk with an old-timer conductor from the B&O at the Boston NMRA show. He explained to us the different signal aspects used by the B&O. There's not much I can remember except for that and a few other tidbits. That's a long time ago.
WoW! A lot of cars even with a DPU! ⬆️👍🏻
Thanks for watching !
Thank you very much for this very beautiful video in a very beautiful place!✨✨
👍Merci beaucoup ! 🙏
Many thanks!
@@JawTooth 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love the CPL signals, and the pets. Hopefully CSX starts utilizing this line more. Hopefully the signals don't come down anytime soon.
As long as they still work properly I see no reason why CSX would take them down.
And as long as the spare parts supply holds out.
Hello from the UK. I have to say, yet again, you film in some really interesting places.
Thank you very much!
Another great video, up close and personnel👍
Thanks 👍
Worked day shift so I'm late to this get together. Great locations and love the old B&O signals. Seems like all railroads are going to the hooded solar powered signals that just don't have any soul. Someone really did an outstanding job on that freight station, kudos to them. Excellent job on this one!
Thanks 👍
Awesome, my friend. 😍 💕 Thanks for sharing. 👍 Have a good day. 🤗 ✨
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice clean DPU. That was a colorful train to. Nice catch man.
A very interesting video and chat today. That double viewed train was great. The pets were great also!
Many thanks!
Ding Ding Ding Ding still love those old mechanical bells, glad you keep showing those old position lights. I keep saying "old", maybe cause I'm old too 🤣
I see CSX was kind enough to give us a DPU, and brand new too. Plus they snuck in an old Chessie boxcar...did you see that ?? Car number 173344, after the DPU 👍
Huh, I didn't know dogs liked yogurt, just learned something.
Best videos on CZcams !!! 👍 👍 👍
Awesome opening...love those old signals. I want one for my backyard 🙂
“It’s loud in this town”... great video with the signals
Love that line due to the classic CPL’s. I visited Deshler for the first time this summer where that line crosses the Diamond with double CSX (old B&O). CPL’s still there also. Love the RR history you show!
Very cool!
Hello! You have an unusual catch at 5:34 with a "Pan Am" boxcar! I think that those are rare in Ohio and farther west, as Pan Am Railways is a CSX subsidiary that consolidates former Class-II railroads in the Northeastern parts of New England (from Maine to New York). Kind of like finding Conrail livery switchers in use in Western Minnesota on short line or elevator-related railroads -- never repainted into a new set of colors, or with a new railroad marking for the unit. You also have a segment from 5:06 to 5:26 of loaded coil cars with rolled sheet metals without their covers, something that I don't often see out west.
Yes, most of them around here have the covers over the steel but its common to see them uncovered. I filmed a unit train of them last week
Great filming. The old Baltimore & Ohio signals look identical to Model Power signals in HO scale. That freight station no doubt I was thinking of TYCO & WALTHERS. 😃
Thank you very much!
Thank you for documenting these trains in Tipp City and Troy, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! That was a long CSX manifest train that passed you in Tipp City, Ohio. The conductor had a relaxing view of the back-up move when you caught the local in Troy, Ohio. I bet he does not do that in the cold months of the year. Do you know if the local uses a shoving platform aka caboose in the colder months of the year to protect the conductor from the cold? I was taken aback at 16:05 when an 86-foot auto parts boxcar appeared with a Chessie the Cat logo appeared in the slide show. I must have been distracted when the boxcar appeared in the video. I had to look back through the video until I found exactly when that boxcar appeared in the video. I found that at 8:59 that boxcar made its appearance. The reporting mark on that boxcar is CSXT 173344. Thank you for taking a photograph of this boxcar and for adding the photograph to the slide show!
Awesome video that DPU looked like it just came out of the paint booth.. There are/were some B&O style signals on the old Santa Fe line near Vale Arizona..
Thanks for watching !
Strange how everyone points out how new and shiny the DPU is -- it and the lead locomotive are consecutively numbered recent rebuilds (7270 on the front and 7269 in the middle).
Great location with B&O signals good follow-up on local thanks for a great video
Our pleasure!
Good video Jawtooth
As always most enjoyable cheers Jt. Chris from England.
Thanks Chris!
CSX 7270 @ 4:57 is a newly rebuilt CM44AC. Originally an AC4400CW. And another(7269) at 7:57 as a DPU.
Love historical stuff!! I live in Ohio as well!! What you don't see anymore is caboose's at the end of the trains!!
CSX is my favorite train line. Always happy to see video's of them flying by. You mentioned in the video about having your own model railroad layout. Have you ever posted any pics or videos on it? I wish I had the room, time, and $$ to do that. Thanks, JT!
It is junky right now and in bad shape. I use to let the kids play on it.
Love the Domino's pizza Challenger Eddie Van Halen edition 🤣🤣 Man, I still can't believe he's gone 😔
I thought the same thing when I saw that Challenger 🤣! Yes he's gone too early🙁
@@toddselph5992 Yes sir. He still had plenty left in the tank. Just think of all those tapes in the vault at 5150.
I got to see them in concert in Cincinnati not long before The Who concert.
@@JawTooth Cool!
@@JawTooth Oh Wow!! I was only 9 when the Who concert happened. But I do remember what happened and being reported on the news. Was that Riverfront?
That's really cool 😎 👍
Last train, tank cars what do they haul in them.?
Thanks for sharing 👍
Not sure but thanks for watching !

Thanks for all you do to bring us the best videos.
The two tank cars on that train are placarded 2055, which is styrene. Why do you ask?

Just curious 🤔

Great to see they have left Old History of the Railroad in place like the Old B&O and Dwarf Signals. We ONLY see this on Jaw Tooth CZcams Channel. What a Country. 🇺🇸
I like the way that old brick building is sideways.right by the tracks.interesting.
Shiny DPU on second train. Good catch. Love the old signals.
Strange how everyone points out how new and shiny the DPU is -- it and the lead locomotive are consecutively numbered recent rebuilds (7270 on the front and 7269 in the middle).

Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Hey cool video Jawtooth. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
No problem 👍
Thanks for taking time to show Chessie and Norfie(?).
Nice video . Really nice to see the New York central box cars and old Chessie system box car.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the horn on that first south bound train.
Those old time signals are so interesting. Remind me of my childhood at the Rock Island Rocket depot in Iowa City. They didn't have the dwarf signal, but the other types with an arm on it. What are those called?
Semaphores
@@dougobrien4877 Thanks That cleared that up for me.
That was a very interesting crossing. It's pretty nice that u are finding different locations to film at. Hey you should try doing some downtown filming in some of the bigger Ohio cities. Just a suggestion though
Thanks for the idea! There are a bunch of them that I want to film.
I saw csx 4304 near Baldwin FL about 3 months back
Great video JT. Those trains running through Tipp City were sure in a hurry. Does the city have any say in how fast trains can go or is it all up to the rail company? The old B&O signals are cool, glad they are still there and working.
Not that I know of but thanks for watching
Like the other guy said this was real nice different in a unique way, nice signals and that little freight station 🚉
Thanks for watching !
Thanks for the description of the flat cars with covers , now I know .
4:42 Its actually very rare to have all of the aspects on that type of signal, nice catch!
I was just there again Saturday and Sunday. I am working on a video right now. Those old signals are really cool
