Back then, his repertoire was encyclopedic and he played with the sensitive expression, articulation and depth he played with long before those hardships. He's got an uncanny story to tell, but it was born of something else besides calamity. This music is not catharsis, it's sensitivity. He's just an extraordinary artist.
