They don't need to be exposed. When you see something that says they will send you 90$ worth of stuff for only 30$, you should ask yourself: "In what world does that make sense"? If it was really worth 90$, he would sell it though the normal channels and get 90$ for it. So what you can expect is for it to be worth actually less than the street value minus the shipping cost. So probably about 20$.

Amen, Alex. I'm a lifelong coin lover, but a brand new eBay seller. It's already difficult to get customers when you're new. Guys who do this make it even worse. Integrity counts.

Glad to see you do this video. There are a ton of new collectors that get scammed by these sellers. I have gotten countless comments on my grab bag videos thanking me for saving people from buying this trash. Out of the 6 grab bags I've bought only 1 has not been a total waste of money
I completely agree with your assessment of this scam eBay lot. One thing i would like to point out is that frugal and cheap are actually not the same thing, frugal is being smart with money, being cheap is being an asshole with money. You can be frugal and spend a fair bit of money on a quality item that lasts, while being cheap is buying a crap quality item that doesn't, or trying to get a good quality item by whining and complaining about the price or trying to get someone to give it to you. Being cheap could be eating out at unhealthy and cheap fast food places all the time, while being frugal could be eating out at a nice restaurant, but less often.

Thank you Shaun, I seen this particular listing along with several others just before Christmas. Its really sad that people prey upon the numismatic hobbies, its almost as bad as counterfeiters. Its a really great video and goes to show that if something sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

Good rule of thumb is to only buy if it's the exact coin in the picture, unless you're buying rolled bullion silver or gold from reputable sellers (i.e. JM Bullion or Apmex)
Turn him in to eBay! False advertising. There’s not $90. worth of stuff in there.

I have learned to only purchase coins that I can actually see, "exactly what I am getting!" Everyone always LOVES a great surprise but, as another member posted, I also do not have room for error in my purchases of coins. Happy hunting everyone! =D
I actually went back and looked again, this listing (at the time of the video was filmed, has sold **1109** sets X 29.99 = $33,270 Yes there is eBay fees, and possibly store front fees lets say 13% -$4,325.00 ish APPROXIMATE PROFIT OF $28,945 and looks like you received about a $5.00 value? So, he or she has sent out roughly $5500 in product (if that)...Seems like they have made a pretty penny off these sales. Sad really!!! Thank you again for warning unexpected buyers!

PCGS graded 2 coins for me recently. Asked for 1975 penny certified error of 2nd Memorial Building, reply was can not grade due to residue. Next coin was asked to certify no s on 1968 proof dime sent in sealed proof set, came back MS66 But no info about no s. Want to auction both coins. What can you recommend. I would like you to broker,

I tip my hat to you for doing a video that exposes some of the shady dealings on eBay. are allowed to deal on E-Bay. There should be some form of penalty from E-Bay for dealers such as this.
Maybe some day E-Bay will enforce some sort of fraudulent rule on these people that will deter them
from dealing on E-Bay. It's nice to be able to make money selling legitimate merchandise at a reasonable price, but not with the intent of ripping off others.

I see these all the time. They are all scams. The “gold” isn’t even worth a dollar lol. I’ve never bought any of them and never will.

Usually they consist of:
A taped/torn Silver Certificate
A slick Mercury dime
A completely slick no-date Buffalo
Damaged wheat pennies
1 grain gold bar (xD)
1 gram silver thing
Yeah, that gold leaf in the vial is quite often not even gold. I often pick up the generic vials of "gold" leaf and I tend to test the gold inside. Most of the time I get negative results for gold.
You know what they say: A sucker is born every second. They usually don't make youtube videos about it though ;) On the plus side you will be making money with this video so it will help payback the money you lost to the genius selling those to fishes ;)

There should be a channel dedicated specifically to finding fraudulent post and vendors so that people who want to enjoy this hobby don't get burned in the process and never continue the hobby because of it. So thank you for at least doing this every so on!

EBAY sellers intend to make money. It's not worth their time to purchase something and resell it at break even or less. Just like you intend on making money from the purchase of the lot and turning it into CZcams content. Free market. Great video.
You should try cointraderonline see what you think of them.. Unless ur only looking for eBay ads
You mentioned something about a '19 teen wheatback' cent....I have a 1917 wheatback cent. It's not in the best condition, but you can read the date. What would something like that be worth do you think?
Search ebay for the same coin. Filter by "sold items" and see what people actually buy them for.

Collected coins since I was 9 to 40 years. Then sold my collection while I made a career in the Army. 25 yrs later (65 years) I'm collecting again and it's a whole different collecting world. I like eBay And Amazon but I run into scams. After a couple of very bad purchases I started reading more on the reviews and most important is watching videos from guys like Blueridgesilverhound. I got one too! For $23.99. I got $2 in 90% dimes. That alone is worth it. $12 for $1 face! I can't find it cheaper. They added 5 1 gram silver bars,5 tubes of gold flake,and some semi precious gems. I ordered 4 more. Junk silver worth it alone!

My rule of thumb, don't buy coins that aren't actually pictured in the ad (unless it's from a reputable seller and you're buying it for it's melt value), and also when buying silver (90% constitutional), buy by face value instead of weight, (they'll sell by Troy pounds or other ridiculous weights).
Sean I saw the ad too and I remember what my mom always said if it sounds to good to be true it probably is ..I got burned by police auctions .com .i won the bid on a huge sapphire.75.00 I had it checked by a gemologist.and it turned out to be quartzite ..good thing I used pay-pal and got a refund

Yes sad to say this seams to be the consensus on most of these lots.. I've seen quite a few videos about these lots and no one has found anything good in any of them... Best advice stay clear of them like you said....

It's real gold, but the flakes are so light that it barely weighs anything
I prefer junk drawers lots that actually show exactly what your getting. They usually have on or two nice items that are worth the price the rest is junk. But those are always fun and I never lost. These I only got just to see what profit they make
