    I helped in the design of a folding bike a very long time ago. So I know that that seat is too far back for the design center of mass of the Xiaomi. It puts more weight on the back wheel and lightens the front wheel steering a bit. That makes the steering less secure through potholes and over ripples. To make the center of mass more centered it should allow the torso to lean forward, but that puts the head in a bad position for this short of a vehicle.
    Also both on a bicycle and that scooter the slightly bent legs of the rider are an integral part of the designed suspension. Those wheels are not, though some fattening of the tires could add comfort. It is also a safety issue to have the rider standing ready to jump off if need be. Seated at speed would be less safe for an unplanned dismount.

    • @yodayoda1782
      @yodayoda1782 Před 5 lety +1

      Could you offer any advice to make it better with a seat mount?

    • @Jozavenue
      @Jozavenue Před 5 lety +1

      i disagree on safety cus ,jumping off at any speed is dangerous ,and when u are seated u feel more safe and stable ,than standing .this seat post should be designed with foot pegs and wider seat .and bit taller .

    • @borismilosheski6864
      @borismilosheski6864 Před 4 lety +6

      Actually, it's much safer with the seat, because you can make a hard push on the break in emergency situation, compared with standing position you have much more stability with the seat on it... Also, you can steer much more easily because of the lower position it is much more stable and you can use both of your legs to help with the break and the steering... I use my M365 with seat on it...

    • @RaisinBarXZ550
      @RaisinBarXZ550 Před rokem

      @@borismilosheski6864 personally I find it to be opposite of me. In my experience, when I try sorta sitting since it was harder to control, and normally the benefit of standing is being able to just lean back and hit the brakes, and put my feet down if I need to. If I brake too hard I can just jump off and grab the scooter from the front to stop it tipping

    • @Tennababy

      It seems like a slightly longer version of this, with more suspension and thicker tires could help mitigate some of these issues. Thanks for sharing xx

    This is an interesting review I love how you guys are thinking, has good potential. I ride a GT Carbon Electric skateboard to work and back most days I would love you guys to do a review of a few electric skateboards. Here in Australia we are big advocates of wearing helmets. I know you guys are from the land of the free but helmets of any sort can save you life. My board gets up to 40km and if you come off, its going to hurt. Anyway keep up the great work, more of these types of reviews / ideas.

    Still seems like more of a fun item than one with a practical side to it. For the commuting business person there are some very nice electric bicycle solutions that fold considerably tighter for hand carry. As far as the seat goes, there are some nice spring loaded mountain bike seating systems, but they might cost as much as that whole scooter. Not sure about where you are, but here on the left coast scooters in the big cities are going insane. My guess is that its a bit of a fad that will taper off with the novelty of it since after about 150 rentals you would own one if you bought it outright.

    If you're looking for a good scooter model to use with a seat, the Dualtron City is an excellent choice. It has 15 inch wheels and a much longer wheelbase than a regular scooter. The deck is a lot wider with more room for feet. The attachment for the seat is behind the deck, between deck and rear fender, so it doesn't take deck space. You can ride standing with enough deck space. The stem is a couple of inches shorter than a standard stem, which is good with a seat. This scooter has two motors with total 4000 W and the excellent rubber suspension that Dualtrons are known for. It's not very portable, the stem folds but the scooter weighs 90 lb. It has a removable battery which can be charged separately from the scooter. Dualtron seats are big, well padded and comfortable, or you can use a seat of your choice.

    I've just bought that model scooter, and ordered a seat for it, which folds down. That's a feature that one lacks. I need one due to ill health, I can't walk far so will be using it like a 2 wheeled mobility scooter just for going to the store. Cos of the scooters size, it'll be easier to get it in and out and take up less room, rather then the 4 wheeled one my neighbor has, which he parks outside my apartment. Thanks for sharing, I found the review informative.

    Can you fit the xiaomi scooter (with seat detached) in the under compartment of your model X truck or frunck? That’s where I keep my jetson scooter and it’s really convenient for road trips because there’s still room for luggage and a 3rd row passenger.

    So I find this concept having a good reason since while it eliminates the effort of walking, it has no means to carry more than yourself. My policy for maintaining good health is to walk or ride a bicycle and save the motorized transportation for when I need to haul a load of goods. Even then, I have a nice bicycle trailer for some of that, and a real horse and wagon for the bigger loads like feed for my livestock.

  • @AbazizPlays

    When you set, you make a high pressure on the back tire. But when you stand, you make a balanced pressure between back and front tire... I think that's why chair are not suitable for e-scooters where causing a lack of speed.

    The difference between this and cycles is that cycles have saddles not seats. Saddles allow you to put some of your weight on your bum and some on your legs. A seat like this will put a lot more weight on your bum and thus won't be as comfortable.

  • @carbrickscity
    @carbrickscity Před 2 lety

    Besides being able to sit down and rest and comfort, the biggest advantage is definitely safer than standing up. Much lower center of gravity when sitting down and you can put both feet on the ground if you wish instead of one when stopping. Way better balance as well when sitting down (again due to lower center of gravity). More aerodynamic and less air resistance when sitting down. Easier to carry around without folding it too. Conclusion: huge difference with the seat. Such a no brainer. Unless if you prefer standing up.
