@@gazza1858 I've heard some people walk 5,000 miles and then they'd walk 5,000 more... So I wonder if they have to change boots at some point?

Interesting. I've tended to give mountain warehouse a wide birth and stick to brands like Rab, Montane, Berghaus and mountain equipment. I recently called into a new store near me in Wales and was impressed with certain things like baselayers and the shorts and trousers. Which looked better quality than my more expensive Rab options.
The Extreme and Ultra ranges are good. I tend to look on selling websites for Mountain Warehouse stuff and get it really cheap, like these boots. I've got a couple of good waterproofs for very little.

Ah, the wet rock challenge, wonder if we'll ever find a pair that passes the test. Those look pretty comfy.
Yeah, I'm not sure I've ever been that confident on wet rock irrespective of what I've been wearing.
Great review video Kev, don't think I have found any boots yet that are good on wet rocks!
Cheers Stuart. Same here. Salomon's Contragrip seems fairly good, but on wet rock with any green stuff on it I don't think anything will grip on it.

Bought a pair 2 years ago walked inglebrough once they fell apart, took them back was told i should have bought the more expensive ones as the "hiking" boots were only designed for walking the dog type walks?.... paid another £30 on recommendation of the shop assistant used them once in slightly boggy fell walking conditions, leaked like a torpedoed battleship, went for a refund, which took some persuading. Spend at least £150 on a reputable brand.
This is the kind of story I kept seeing underneath Mountain Warehouse Facebook stories! It will be interesting to see how this pair gets on over a few hundred miles, given how poor your experience was.
I tend to avoid Mountain Warehouse but they look awright. Mind you, I buy the karrimor trekking from Sports direct. My latest pair I've had for a year and are falling apart but have done me well for dog walks & low level stuff.
I used to get Karrimor stuff and I found the tread wore out really quickly on them. Seemed comfy enough though. I do remember some snow boots from them that fell apart after about 5 miles. All the stitching came undone from one!
I was lucky enough to get lucky on a pair of MOAB 3 Gore Tex Mid boots for £70 from Wiggle and they're great.
That's a good deal. I've never used that brand, hope they last well for you.
@@TheWalkingKev I had the Merrell Moab 2 vent and they were good but these feel better, definitely recommend them and especially if you can get a good deal.

What are peoples thoughts on Skechers walking boots ?
I've never worn any or even tried any on so I've no idea I'm afraid.
These are not waterproof, first walk this morning out of the box and walking on track and wet grass and my feet got wet
Doesn't sound good. I'm still wearing mine, done a good few long walks in wet grass and boggy ground and every now and then they wet out, but I've had the same from Goretex boots costing a lot more. Everything has it's limit. I've personally found these pretty solid in terms of being waterproof.
Maybe they have a manufacturing fault?
Hey great review Kev lovely looking boots fair play. Iv been looking for a half decent pair lately, looked at the bewildering variety on amazon.. but as a procrastinator, made things worse.. lol.. I'm still searching.. in vain..

Ive never spent a lot of boots just because I can’t afford too lol but I bought a pair of mountain warehouse boots about ten years ago and lasted up until lockdown and ended up buying some more from trespass for £25 in the sale and best boots I’ve ever had and actually waterproof lol also where is your blue coat from looks nice lol
I've not had much from Trespass... I'll have to try some of their gear at some point. These boots I actually got brand new on eBay for £13 including postage, so one of my best bargains yet.
Blue jacket is the OEX Idris synthetic warm jacket. Think is paid £43 for it from Go Outdoors in the sale. Nice jacket.
Bargain and a half there lol and think I'll be invested in one of the jackets thank you. Trespass are ok I normal prefer mountain warehouse but buy all-sorts these days lol

Always buy the best bed and the best shoes you can afford, if uour not in one your in the other, and if either arent comfy they can really make u miserable
I tried some Mountain warehouse boots, and didn't take long till I could feel stones and ground through the soles 🥾
Interesting. These soles seem pretty good quality, but I've only done about 50 miles so far...

@@relaxingwalks_uk I had some Brasher walking boots for a while, but the sizing didn't quite suit me. Seemed well made though - heavier than some of my other walking shoes.

@@relaxingwalks_uk with some treads it feels like you need to wear them in a bit. My Scarpa's felt like skies on their first wear!
It's Trespass that I think are rubbish, don't go near them .
I've not bought anything from them, they always seem quite pricey and if I'm spending that sort of money I tend to go for main hiking / outdoor brands.
@@TheWalkingKevtheir flagship parka was on sale for 180 quid, which is the poorest parka I have ever worn, both material and quality are bad, I could spend 50 quid on temu and get a better one, don't touch this brand, donating money to charities is more straightforward.

Not on this bargain channel! I've wild camped in a £9.99 Lidl tent and a £7.99 Aldi tent! These boots are luxury goods in comparison.

@@gazza1858 yeah, I don't think they subscribe to my channel! I did snag a nice Nordisk tent the other day for £150, but even that is bargain bin gear compared to some of the £1,000 tents you see on here!
