Ridiculous. Just look at the rankings. Ruud is top ten. Not a great closer, but has played lots of finals.
Actually Casper was extermely rude when much younger - I still don't like the poor guy. When Nick was disqualified in Rome for throwing a chair onto an empty court (third strike rule) he was playing Casper, who proceeded to beat his chest with joy and cheer. You simply don't do that when your opponent has been dq'ed. Ever.
I get where you're coming from but at the same time I agree with Frances. If he got past Alcaraz in the semis he would have a US Open title right now. The edge of the rowdy American crowd would have definitely played a huge part in getting him over that hump. And I don't see it as necessarily a slight, I just think he was basically saying "if i can beat alcaraz, my chances of beating Ruud are pretty good"

Guy was always the most humble person and so respectful to everyone, hope he wins a slam one day!

Love this. 1) great that he's interviewing non-tennis players, but if I'm honest, the tennis players are my favorite with what Nick brings to it! I was a hater for years until I saw him play Nadal live at Wimbie and follow a second serve aace (announced second fastest serve ever at Wimby) with an underarmed serve winner. You wonder what he showed Nadal, Federer, Djoker beating them all the first time he played them that they had never seen before. Keep up the good work, Nick. Very proud of you!
Frances Tiafoe was just a fresh burst of air for tennis. His story is similar to Venus and Serena! His story hits a lot of regular folk hard. Such a humble guy on and off the court.

I'm was glad to hear that Tiafoe and his coach recently decided to go their separate ways. I never thought he was the right coach for him. I would like to see Tiafoe with Renae Stubbs or Big Sacha. Tiafoe has to much talent and he right at yhe door. He just need to add few things to his game. I want to see him win some 500 and 1000 tournaments. I know 250 are good wins and good mental boost. I also you could tell that he hasn't been happy since he lost that USA Open. I'm rooting for him and Nick. Nick could have won at least two GS but he wasn't ready mentally. I rooting for Keys, Townsend, my heart breaks for these USA players. Taylor should have a sponsorship the way she's been playing these last few years.
Tiafoe played a challenger in Stockton Ca. I watched him in person and just thought “man, this guy is slow”. Never thought this guy would make it this far.
Why is Tiafoe english so difficult to listen to? Is it because he is from a particular region in US with such dialect? I consider myself pretty good at English , but everytime he speaks, I find it so difficult to understand him

No three setters, no three hours, no three tie breakers...the only matches worth watching are the old school passionate guys. Everything so correct and well mannered and 'wholesome' oh lord. That's what needs to change - come back with a passion.

Maybe the video is highly edited and key bits were cut out, but in some instances the transitions from Frances’ answers to Nick’s questions seem inorganic and rushed. If the interview was more conversational, it would come across organic and enjoyable for the audience. Instead this feels like it should’ve been a written article posted online.
I feel this show works better with tennis players. It’s awkward when Nick tries to relate himself to people like Garry V and Gordon Ramsay, there’s not enough in common other than being slightly controversial. Or maybe just expand it to sportspeople.

Casper Ruud and Tiafoe both went pro in 2015. Ruud has 10 titles, Tiafoe has 3. In 2024 Ruud is 18/5, Tiafoe is 7/7. Yeah, I think Ruud wouldn’t have been easily beaten by Tiafoe had he made it to the final.

I think both kyrgios and Tiafoe have hit their respective ceilings PRECISELY because they think they know more than a coach. A true champion knows that a coach, well used, is a potential extender of self efficacy, not a blocker of self or progress. Don’t know about Foe, but Kyrgios is stuck on “you’re not the boss of me”. That’s always obvious. But for this Nick would have won a GS years ago.
Tennis needs to divorce itself from the socioeconomic and classist parts of its culture to advance.
Tennis is its own worst enemy in the sense that requiring silence and dress codes stops regular people from falling in love with it.
It needs a culture rebrand and more affordable access to racquets/gear for low-income kids.
I’d also add that including a draft element similar to what pickleball is doing with the MLP/PPA would be helpful. Team tennis .

I think you need to pay your buddy Jack Sock a visit to North Carolina and spend some time with him playing Pickleball in his backyard. Jack shows his personality in Pickleball tournaments and the fans love it. Maybe you two can team back up playing mens doubles in Pickleball. You can make a big impact on the game and on a lot of kids who are interested in pickleball. The cost to get into pickleball and to learn is a lot less than tennis. Your gut will tell. you when it is time to hang it up in pickleball. I hope to see you playing with Jack Sock mens double this year in pickleball.

What is black privilege? There is no AA in sport, the competition decide who is better. Do you think that Serena or Venus received some privilege in their career? I agree Tiafoe is an average player, but there is no pass in sport.
Nick is ok for the game but he has an oversized ego and overestimates his impact on the game.
