Incredible. I'd seen clips of this but never the whole thing!
It reminds me a lot of Easy Boy & Laura Balisky at the 1995 Shell Cup Derby... practically the same thing.

Yes Hickstead is a great jumping course and the Bunn family look after it very well. The surface is relaid (I think) once a year. Yes Harvey was a great show jumper, he training race horses now with his wife. They won the Grand National with Auroras Encore in 2013.

Right! When I was a child, my father used to receive L'Anne Hipique, with the review of the FEI events of the year, and I remember the pictures from Hickstead and Achen were always the most impressive.

jjeherrera Looking at Hickstead now, I can see the course was inspired by the kind of obstacles encountered in fox hunting. The equestrian establishment was commonly involved with hunting as well as competitive disciplines like show jumping so it's not surprising really. It's part of what makes Hickstead so different from the majority of other outdoor arenas. It's essentially a period piece.

    This is brutal stuff.
I'm a jumper myself, but this is a whole other kind of show jumping ! O_o

OK sort of round for Harvey but they should have shown a replay of the fence knocked down with the criticism of Steve Hadley.
