I remember living in Phoenix in 1976 and watching KOOL TV Channel 10 News, with Anchorman Bill Close.

The final score in Game 7 should've been 94-86. But it don't matter.

Contrary to popular belief, the Warriors lost this series in Games 4 and 6 on the road. In Game 4, Derrek Dickey bricked a late free throw that would have clinched the victory. In Game 6, Phil Smith played hero ball and it might have cost his team a victory. He only looked to pass when he couldn't beat his man off the dribble. At that point, he had three options --- an open Barry from 18 feet straightaway or an open Davis from 10 on the left block or an open Wilkes from 20 in the right corner. He never looked at Barry or Davis and passed to the guy with the most difficult shot. Had Wilkes pump-faked Heard off his feet, he would have gotten the shot off with about one second left on the clock. We'll never know what would have happened next, but I would take my chances with Wilkes on a very makable shot.

Haha Rick Barry one of the original 1970's superstars that has that shadow of underachievement around them just because they played in such a parity era of the 70's. Kareem only won 1 in the decade, Dr J won zero in the decade in the NBA, Frazier two, Barry 1, Cowens 1, Walton 1... I always see frustration in Rick Barry's face from that

The 1976 NBA Finals were anticlimactic. It's always that way when the two best teams don't meet.

Cowers won 2 titles. Barry got frustrated with Ricky Sobers.

Actually, Barry was a classic overachiever. He played with only two HOF players in his Warriors career (Thurmond and Wilkes, who was with the team for three seasons.). Bill Russell played with more in one week.

@@RayManzarekRocks okay good point. But Rick Barry is underrated because of ships and playing in the 70's... so I said a shadow of underachievement is over him not that HE himself underachieved. He was MJ like scoring and shined in the Finals like nobody but MJ but he only showcased his primetime that so often. Hence the frustration or chip on his shoulder in interviews. That's my point. Also a strong point .
