Good video Mandee! Glad Sr. is ok and he was in his right to criticize the conditions of the track and what is needed to fix the problem! Good luck next time BPSr!!

Honestly I watch all the videos and there are a handful of tracks they should not criticize. Great cars…..great drivers…and a handful of shitty race tracks…period!

If the track can’t provide a safe racing environment,
The racers should refuse to race there until they do.
On the other hand, it’s been great watching
Mike, Billy and Billy Sr. race over the past week.
Always a pleasure to spend time on my iPad
    watching your posts Mandee. 👍🏻😎

No matter how unsafe any given track is, I don't know of any driver would ever say Im not racing till its fixed......Thats cause racing is much more important to them. Every track has its ups and downs with maintance really some worse than others. Even Middletown, as long as I can remember the same bump going into third turn into forth is still there, better than it was but you really can't fix a problem like that totally. Just glad Billy was ok.

Sorry to see your Dad had a disappointing night, especially when his car looked so fast. Hopefully his soreness will be gone soon.
Usually, when tracks are rough and rutty, it is either due to too much water applied, or trying to do all the track prep on the same day. It's a delicate science for sure.
Watched Mike at Weedsport....that track was just the opposite...way too dry & slick, rubbered up quick, and turned into a one lane track. Couldn't really race, just follow the leader. Wish you were there to draw #1 for him (😉), starting position was everything in that race.
Thanks for the video, Mandee. As always, you do a fantastic job and I really appreciate your work. I hope your Dad feels better soon.

Sorry about all the drama in your gang over the past week or so! I don’t know how old Sr. is, (I’m 61) but injuries that you’d brush off in your 20’s are game changers when you hit the 50 year mark! I hope he knows when it’s time to throw in the towel, not only for his own good, but his family’s also! The man is, and always will be, a legend, regardless of wether he ever turns another lap or not! I retired last year after 41 years on the railroad, a job I was passionate about, and it was tough to walk away, so I understand that driving would be a very difficult thing for him to quit! Y’all stay safe, stay well!

Billy Pauch Sr at whatever his age will still whip ass at any venue over 85% more of the field...so why not keep doing it? I was 10 years old in 1978 and he came to Fonda NY for a CRC Qualifer with a #15....that was the talk this badass NJ guy along with Brightbill and Horton and others gonna take the Fonda money...no freaking way. I went to the starting grid...screamed to The Monk to beat these Jersey guys and got a rested THUMBS UP pre green...well Louie...King of Fonda didnt disappoint that 100 lapper. Im sure Sr can tell its impossible to conquer that place by just showing up.

loved working at Bridgeport, did that for a few years, in the ambulance, in a push truck for the pits, with the wrecker, corner duty, & with the infield coordinator, & for the most part the track was pretty good, but I can remember times when a big hole would develop (mostly) in the middle, between turn 1 & 2. The drivers would be furious, complaining about it, but would not be addressed, they seemed to be ignored.
I've worked 2 tracks for CORR events in California (& although there were problems) the track crew would try to fix it, between races, & it was never as bad as I've seen happen in Bridgeport, that's a shame, absolutely love dirt track racing.

  • @drewpierce2273
    @drewpierce2273 Před 3 lety +3

Those damn first turn holes have been there since the old Langhorne dirt was used to build the track. Seems no amount grading and moving dirt as has been done helps at all. Hope Srs. back isn't bad hurt.

To clarify, my👍 is a like in the sense of showing some love to your Pa, his team and to you(MANDEEEEE).
    MUCH Love from the 315!
But a huge 👎for the nights outcome and for Sr. Feeling sore and getting roughed up.
I appreciate his candor and if anyone is worth listening to when it comes to a facility and the physical condition of the surface that is getting put out there for teams to race on...Sr. would be someone to pay attention to.
That looked so much like a early April type of deal when you're dodging the weather and just trying to get the show in so, ya end up with a rough track. Everyone who unloaded and went out on the track has to race in the same conditions, BUT DAMN.
Track prep is important as hell and I know that We've gotten a lot of rain/Gnarly Storms/flash flooding and such but drivers and teams can't be racing on tracks with conditions that is tearing up equipment and beating up bodies at this point in the season.
Georgetown in the end of March was in a helluva lot better shape than what was on display in this vlogs content just now!
Ty for all you do for us 'dee,

The track looked bad! I do agree with your dad, if a track is only a good with a bad racing surface, that's not good!
It's like going to space with a great facility, and space shuttle, but with a crappy crew.
I'd steer clear of Bridgeport until they fix the track surface.
I hope BP1 feels better! Nobody should endure broken bones by a terrible track surface.

I'm not a racer nor a track prep expert so perhaps my perspective is flawed but it seems like this happens alot with tracks that are constantly wet. By wet I don't mean water truck wet, I mean as in water from rainfall kinda wet. What I do know is clay will clump up and break out of areas that are super saturated particularly underneath. Used to see it in tillage equipment when I was a kid on the farm if you tried to get onto a field when it was too wet. If it's always like that I wonder if drain tile would help? Not so much a suggestion as more so a question.

He's 100% dead on...just like Shepperd was about OCFS. That being said Mandee I am about 2 miles from Fonda and I can assure you- that surface will be the best anyone has ever seen it 2 weeks from now. They are on it EVERY DAY. Obviously Stew is the betting favorite but I've seen your Dad match his times in hot laps. Mike is very good in long races and I've noticed Billy Jr has gotten a LOT better at Fonda after first seeing it. I feel like all 3 guys can nice finishes...Sr and Mike top 5s and Jr a top 8.
