I actually initially thought that.......... But here's the thing, Glastonbury is a funny old thing! It can lead you anywhere. Plus this footage is already up there for future generations to watch. Just think how we perceive and react to our vintage past. The face to face footage alone is amazing, I'd like to see more. That's the real Glastonbury ☺️🥰😎
Thing is about Glasto, is there is a lot of stuff going on. Tons of smaller raves going on, Banana Joes, etc. Then you have the other stages that are not on the TV, with decent acts. Then you have the underground scene, which is mainly the travellers and such. If you can get into the underground scene, it's a completely different vibe. People tend to only think it's the main, publicized acts, but the festival is massive. You'd be hard pushed to not find a good time. Granted, I haven't been since the late 90's, but I imagine the same stuff is still going on.

I snuck in there about 20 years ago. Parked up 15 mins walk away, got lucky straight away with a ladder set up and barrels stacked. Think there was 3 fences. Everyone was cheering as we ran into the crowd 😂
I work for my ticket as a volunteer steward, have done this for years, and know pretty much every inch of the ground the gang trod during their efforts to get in. I have a day job existence for the rest of my year and most likely, the majority of protected military sites are easier to get into than Glastonbury. Getting into this festival is a cat and mouse game and there are an awful lot of cats! I enjoyed watching this. Meow! Shame the festival is being spoiled by all the wealthy glampers, it is nowhere near as good as it used to be.
@@olivere5497 I used to work on one which was originally a Second World War airfield. I believe the perimeter fence was about 7 miles, similar to Glastonbury. Every morning a team went round to check the fence was still intact. Often it wasn't but that was not because people had tried to get in, it was because animals used to dig under it. Most of the site was fairly empty and I saw foxes, badgers and deer quite regularly inside the fence.
I think it was good as it let me know not to bother trying. They could've easily edited it to make it seem easier. Or bought a ticket and faked the sneak in like some other CZcamsrs

After running from security after the first fence into no mans land, went under the inner fence by a hole dug by many people, threw my bag over the last fence ready to climb and my bag came back over with a security guard calling at me.."not here mate this is a secure compound, go 30ft that way and you will be fine". Turns out he was telling the truth and we all got in. Such a relief after trying so long and what a legend for helping us, it was a great year
It's by far the hardest fezzy to get into. I got in about five years ago and it was hard then. Problem is, they know people try it and make these videos, and the organisers watch them. So they'll see how people did it and then the next year they'll be on top of the ways people got in the year before and take measures to stop it, so it gets harder and harder every year

Before the new fence in 2002 and much better security the local kids knew the fence would be down by Saturday afternoon and you could just see them go through the gaps in the fence in droves. I work as a festival steward to earn my ticket but not in any of the areas in this video. Glastonbury has quite a short management chain and I bet the stewards manager has already seen this.

But I think doing it that way has a better chance of success than any method after the festival has started, where you probably won't even be able to get over the fence.
We jumped the fences at peak Glasto,2000. Only half of the people had paid, 100,000 had got in for free, there were no fences by day3, they’d been pulled down and very little security. I didn’t meet anyone who had paid, 250,000 people was the estimate. spent the whole time tripping on mushrooms and ecstasy. Didn’t see a single band. Best memories

They have to be super gnarly with it because so many people used to sneak in. An overcapacity venue with not enough staff and infrastructure to make sure everything is safe is a horrible recipe for mass casualties.

i used to sneak in to pilton pop fest(glastonbury) for about 15 years and when that got difficult i volunteered as campsite crew and be on site for a week . great days
When i was 21 getting into Glastonbury was very easy. Around the peri,eter fence were wither scousers or Rastafarians who had ladders, ropes & various ways to bunk in. All for the massive sum of £10. Drove there from Brighton on Saturday morning, was around 1996 we did a 24 hour turn around. Messy.

Was at Glasto in 93 or 94 .. about 70,000 people got in free that year and I'm not even joking. Was there for 5 days and didn't meet a single person who had bought a ticket. Back then you were allowed to camp at the Stone Circle aswell. Scenes.
Me too,sneaked in, in a van in my first ever time at Glastonbury fest in about 1987 and in 94 got in through gap in fence and my brother took his own grappling hook and rope not sure if he got in this way but he got in that was in the 90"s also.
We used to do this in the mid 90's. It was a period with lesser security, because a guard had killed someone in the early 90's, so they had to dial it back. You still had the 3-tier fences, with the 14ft one in the middle, but the security would just charge people a tenner, if they were caught. Some of our female friends were even allowed to climb on top of the van, to get them over the middle fence.
1st time I went in the late 90s.2 car loads of us parked up. Walked for about 10 mins wondering how do we get in. Eventually 1 of us tripped over a tent peg and hey presto we got in. And then proceeded to get spangled for 3 days

1997: Found a bloke selling wristbands for a tenner outside one of the gates... Success! 2000: A few security guards had leant a "temporary/building site/security fence" up against the main fence and charged £20 to be able to walk up it and drop down t'other side. All in all, it took about an hour in total both times.
I did this in 96 spent 2 hours scrambling through woodland like a commando only to get to the main fence 🤣🤣 50 meters past the gate a scouser had ripped a hole in the fence and was charging £20 a head to go through! quickly negotiated down to 4 cans of carling and bit of squidgy black and four of us were in . Dancing to the sun rising at the stone circle the morning of the first day was one of the most euphoric feelings I've ever experienced what a night

Getting in through or over the fence used to be a doddle tbh. But I have to say 2000 was the last time I did it. So many people got through that year that the festival was rammed. I paid for ‘02 and that was the last time I went. I know a lot of people say it but it really isn’t the same as it used to be. Bring back the likes of the Lev’s on the pyramid stage. Legendary sets.

1998 travellers drove a bus through the fence, we walked through for free, 1999 there was a gate, but no fence, so we walked through for free again ;o)
Excellent work on getting in boys!! Good some sound peoole helped you. I live an hour away and was tempted to just walk in on the Tuesday in the right outfit. Tbh I think it's harder by Friday you wanna try earlier in the week when there's more chao. In the end I didnt bother because I was knackered and as you found out it can be a knackering intense festival... but it is a seriously amazing one, best city ever.
Broke in this year, took me 6 hours and a sacrificial BMX. The security there is no joke! Got a band and ticket off a fella leaving which got me close enough on one of the quieter gates at the top of the festival after doing over 10 miles around the perimeter finding a weak spot. Soon as they said I can’t come in because the id doesn’t match I bolted! Luckily all the stewards on the gates were old so I was free!
Well done boys , I went over the wall in '96 , took 4hrs to do that , the next year they spent a £million on a new wall , didn't bother going back again . . . but brilliant effort by you guys . 👍

Went around 94, climbed a ladder owned by a rasta, for £10. Went there & back from Brighton in 24 hours!
Military sites are basiclly big empty fields mostly, 30km of fence is expensive to maintain!

The trick is to be inside before the fest starts.
It's definitely changed and become a lot harder since the Levellers first played there in 1992.

2000: A few security guards had leant a "temporary/building site/security fence" up against the main fence and charged £20 to be able to walk up it and drop down t'other side.
All in all, it took about an hour in total both times.

I did this in 96 spent 2 hours scrambling through woodland like a commando only to get to the main fence 🤣🤣 50 meters past the gate a scouser had ripped a hole in the fence and was charging £20 a head to go through! quickly negotiated down to 4 cans of carling and bit of squidgy black and four of us were in . Dancing to the sun rising at the stone circle the morning of the first day was one of the most euphoric feelings I've ever experienced what a night

I went to Glastonbury as a student in the 90's a few times and it was awesome. Great drugs. Free love chicks. A lot of sex with girls who's names I never bothered to remember I returned a few years ago as a vendor and was amazed at how POSH and boring everyone was. All selfies , duck faces and designer outfits. Young people today are DULL.
Getting in through or over the fence used to be a doddle tbh. But I have to say 2000 was the last time I did it. So many people got through that year that the festival was rammed. I paid for ‘02 and that was the last time I went. I know a lot of people say it but it really isn’t the same as it used to be. Bring back the likes of the Lev’s on the pyramid stage. Legendary sets.

Glasto in the 90s was relatively easy to sneak into. It was also a lot cheaper (inflation accounted for).
1998 travellers drove a bus through the fence, we walked through for free, 1999 there was a gate, but no fence, so we walked through for free again ;o)

Excellent work on getting in boys!! Good some sound peoole helped you. I live an hour away and was tempted to just walk in on the Tuesday in the right outfit. Tbh I think it's harder by Friday you wanna try earlier in the week when there's more chao. In the end I didnt bother because I was knackered and as you found out it can be a knackering intense festival... but it is a seriously amazing one, best city ever.
Got free entry working for Greenpeace but that was some years ago when decent bands played

32 hours trying to sneak in...to watch Coldplay, lol
Broke in this year, took me 6 hours and a sacrificial BMX. The security there is no joke! Got a band and ticket off a fella leaving which got me close enough on one of the quieter gates at the top of the festival after doing over 10 miles around the perimeter finding a weak spot. Soon as they said I can’t come in because the id doesn’t match I bolted! Luckily all the stewards on the gates were old so I was free!
