  • Let's demystify the suspension setup. In his Suspension Setup Masterclasses, Lynx R&D Manager and two-time FIM Snowcross World Champion, Janne Tapio covers the basics of suspension setup of your 2023 Rave RE or Xterrain RE snowmobile.
    Part 1: Setting the Sag
In the first episode of the series, Janne Tapio explains the first step of suspension setup: setting the sag. Sag is the amount of suspension travel used when you are sitting on your snowmobile in a natural riding position, with full riding gear and cargo you are carrying. These instructions are for 2023 Lynx Rave RE and Xterrain RE models, equipped with the PPS3 rear suspension, but can be generally adapted to any snowmobile with a similar rear suspension structure.

It appears Lynx has ignored the sag for the front suspension? @Lynx Snowmobiles, what is the recommended sag for the front suspension? Can not find it in the owner's manual (Xterrain RE 900 Ace Turbo R).

Hopefully they give you a proper answer but I’m pretty sure you need to run a minimal amount of preload in the front (back it off until the spring loses tension while off the ground)

Adjusted the front today on my Xterrain 900T 2020, with those stock 22nm springs rate you need 15-20mm preload (a lot yes) for 40-50mm free sag on the front with rider on. I adjusted to 40mm because I want the skis as light as possible. Aka higher front to move the center weight point further back. Stock settings 5mm preload free sag at the front is a lot maybe 80-100mm to much in my book. Test ride tomorrow!
