Gambler 500: Cleaning up public lands, Mad Max style

  • The 9th annual Gambler 500 brought some 2,000 people to the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond for a two-day festival of music, food, camping and, most importantly, cleaning up trash. By the end of the weekend, “gamblers” had removed more than 1,100 cubic yards of waste, 26 dumped vehicles and six abandoned boats from public land.

    God Bless these people. Mixing fun and caring for our public lands is just fantastic. It's a shame that this kind of cleanup is even needed though.
